POPSInteresting I found this article on the Pagan site, Witchvox. Now... let me just put this in context.... Scotland was once Pagan, then it became Catholic, then it became Presbyterian. Now the European Union is threatening to convert it to Equal. And this event is being covered by a Pagan publication. I don't know what all of this means, but it is fascinating.

POPSScottish Castle: Eilean Donan At the end of the bridge you are faced with the heptagonal and now impenetrable building which was once the main entrance (in the days when there was no bridge across to the island). It is thought that this unique, oddly-shaped part of the castle might have been built in the 16th century to protect the well which it encompasses, as well as to strengthen an existing entrance in the wall behind it. After passing through this gateway, you would have crossed a small wooden bridge across the well, then entered a funnel-shaped courtyard with upper defences, before finally reaching the main castle. The guards could easily have prevented your passage by withdrawing the wooden bridge across the well. The more modern entrance was chosen to be an arch in the south wall and over its portcullis is a Gaelic inscription which translates as: As long as there is a MacRae inside There will never be a Fraser outside

POPSA Few Important Questions for President Obama's Teleprompter As dissatisfaction with Obama mounts, expect the teleprompter to become a much more familiar topic of conversation. Maureen Dowd @New York Times Barack Obama even needs a teleprompter to get mad. As he watches the fury of ordinary Americans bubble up at those who continue to plunder our economy, he should keep in mind one of my dad’s favorite Gaelic sayings: “Never bolt the door with a boiled carrot.” At the White House on Monday, the president read reporters some tough talk from the teleprompter about the chuckleheads at A.I.G., accusing them of “recklessness and greed.” http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/18/opinion/18dowd.html?_r=1

POPSThe Twelve Apostles and Bloody Sunday (original) Like America, we had out War of Independence followed by a bloody Civil War on the issue of independence. This was also in common with many other states that gained independence. We didn't gain full independence until 1948 when we took it without a shot being fired. We did lose 6 of our 9 counties of Ulster, our northern providence. Hopefully some day our "four green fields" will be reunited peacefully. By Bush&Co's definition all our leaders would have been terrorists like Nelson Mandela , just like your own revered insurrectionists/freedom fighters/terrorists/founding fathers. Our longest serving PM and president de Valera would have been executed along with the 1916 Rising leaders only he was born in America.
