POPSScientists Make Radio Waves Travel Faster Than Light A Los Alamos National Laboratory gadget, called a polarization synchrotron, combines radio waves and a rapidly spinning magnetic field, which forces radio waves to travel faster than the speed of light. The resulting phenomenon could lead to new technologies in health and communications.

POPSThe soap that knows what you want This is one of those things, though, that’s an easy trickle-down technology for things like the iPhone, which already is a touch sensitive gadget with an accelerometer and multiple modes of functionality.

POPSHans Christian Ørsted : Who he was and why you owe him But no one had ever before scientifically documented the connection between electricity and magnetism, Cadden-Zimansky said. Ørsted's observation helped set the stage for the discovery of electromagnetic induction, whereby a changing magnetic field is used to produce an electric current and vice versa. Hans Christian Ørsted: 21st-Century Man Today Ørsted's fingerprints are on everything from medical scanners to your car's motor to theoretical invisibility devices. Cadden-Zimansky compared Ørsted's contribution to science to that made by another European scientist who lived more than a century before."Isaac Newton showed that the same phenomenon"—gravity—"causes a ball thrown into the air to fall down and the planets to orbit the sun," he said.Like electricity and magnetism, the different expressions of gravity "look like two different phenomena, but the same rules can describe them both. Ørsted's discovery was analogous."

POPSIs it a Fly or... Just think, you could simply just open a window and let a real fly awaken you. That would be to cheap to count, plus the scheduling might be a little off.

POPSNew Camera Promises To Capture Your Whole Life A SenseCam-like device could be part of an artificial memory used by ordinary people, just as they use notebooks and planners as memory aids today. Geepers. They make it sound all cool and dandy, but you'd not only be logging your life, but everyone else's too. I'm not really keen on the idea of having my picture taken every single time I met someone, with one of these contraptions. This would turn everyone into a 24-hour surveillance system. I'm not sure I like the sound of this... :(
