The Copenhagen That Matters
debbyski
by debbyski  12-23-2009    2
"My fellow Americans, the fact that the recent Copenhagen climate summit was a bust in terms of solving our energy/climate problems doesn’t mean that we can ignore those problems — or that we can ignore how individual countries, like Denmark, have effectively addressed them. With unemployment in Denmark at about 4 percent, compared with our 10 percent, maybe we should at least consider putting a few of its ideas on our table."

Mind-Control For the Poor From Childhood.
mcsmithblack

Disturbing study showing how our upper crust makes sure that the underclass stays under. One can never start too early. More below: "The questions go beyond the psychological impact on Medicaid children, serious as that may be. Antipsychotic drugs can also have severe physical side effects, causing drastic weight gain and metabolic changes resulting in lifelong physical problems. “They say it’s impossible to stop now,” Evelyn Torres, 48, of the Bronx, said of her son’s use of antipsychotics since he received a diagnosis of bipolar disorder at age 3. Seven years later, the boy is now also afflicted with weight and heart problems."

Clunkers: Taxpayers paid $24,000 per car
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  10-30-2009    2
In order to determine whether these sales would have happened anyway, Edmunds.com analysts looked at sales of luxury cars and other vehicles not included under the Clunkers program. Using traditional relationships between sales volumes of those vehicles and the types of vehicles sold under Cash for Clunkers, Edmunds.com projected what sales would normally have been during the Cash for Clunkers period and in the weeks after. Edmunds.com's estimate of the ultimate sales increase generally matches what industry experts had thought, said George Pipas, a sales analyst with Ford Motor Co. But that misses the point, he said. "The whole purpose of the program was to provide some kind of catalyst to kick-start the economy," he said, "and by all accounts the extra production that was added this year was a boost to the economy." Emunds.com's projection indicates that, without Cash for Clunkers, October's sales increase would be even higher.

15 Most RIDICULOUS Car Mods You Will Ever See
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  9-14-2009    3
I would like to see the impact ratings for the obese Cadillac. I am betting that 'mod' boosted the impact ratings. Kind of like slamming into a sumo wrestler. The WTF pt. 1 and 2 are vans from Japan styled in the Bosozoku fashion. Trucks like #10 used to be all over the place...back in 1996. That Nintendo valve cover was freaking genius. Picture # 8 is not a mod. That is a standard night headlight assembly for a rally car. These drivers are often doing +150kmph on a road designed for 80kmph in the dead of night; they kinda need really powerful high beams to see the road ahead of them well. Albeit, it may be on some dudes stock Impreza instead of an actual rally car, but it is not a mod anymore than having a roof rack to hold some skis.

The Cow Pie BioGas and Flu Connection
nedhamson1
by nedhamson1  8-31-2009
When you take cow pies from dairy farms and from feed lots around the world and dump them into an anaerobic digester as well as manure fro pig farms and from chicken and utrkey farms - you get methane gas that can be bottled, piped and will burn more cleanly than carbon based gas. AND, and, and since during the digester process, the manure is raisde to over 104 degrees F for more than three hours, the viruses that carry influenza to ppigs and people are killed, do not mutate into new forms and other nasty viruses that kill animals and humans are also zapped. Fill up on cow, pig and chicken plop for a healthier planet!

CBS Touts ‘Cash for Clunkers’ As ‘Great For the Environment’
merrie
by merrie  8-5-2009    2
It’s getting people to spend money. So do you still believe, as you have said in recent days, that this is quote ‘a great example of the stupidity coming out of Washington’?" DeMint defended GOP opposition, explaining: Well, this is another program that was rushed through without even reading the bill language....And the dealers tell me it’s been so mismanaged they have no idea when and if they’re going to get their money....The problem here is instead of across the board tax cuts that would have the same effect on our whole economy, the federal government is trying to run a particular business by targeting just the auto industry here with this bill....This is just an out-of-control government at the federal level right now, and we need to stop and see what we’ve done. And it just doesn’t make any sense to keep rushing through bills, borrowing money from our children, and then saying, ‘shazam, we’ve sold some cars.’

Heath-care clunker
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  8-1-2009    2
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that at a meeting this week of 150 Minnesota auto dealers, not one has gotten a single transaction approved by Washington. If Obama’s horrible policies aren’t because he wants to take away our freedoms, they’re just because he’s an idiot who has no idea what he’s doing. If Obama were a dictator, I’m quite certain he’d be a horrible tyrant who would strike down many freedoms, but as president at worst he’s Carter.
