POPSTaliban in Pakistan bomb Irish-run school My aunt is back (thankfully) in Ireland now after serving for over 25 years as a teacher/principal in Pakistan. This violence is a frightening development, and so very sad for the people of Pakistan.

POPSPalin and Her Followers are frightening I think that says that you abused your power, if I read correctly. This kind of parsing of words is disingenuous in the extreme. It is also either arrogant or stupid to suggest someone read the report knowing they will find Finding Number One. It is hard to believe that John McCain can be trusted with anything if he is suggesting that we should trust Sarah Palin. Someone who abuses her power by using it to further her personal ends in the context of her sister’s nasty divorce, and sees nothing wrong with it, frightens me. Its like the Mafia, don’t cross a family member, your livelihood and your reputation could be in danger. But then, this is what frightened me about the Bush/Cheney Texas Mafia, so I guess I’m just a weenie.

POPSRepublican Rallies Now Sound like the KKK The clip from the New York Times reports someone at a Palin rally urging killing Barrack Obama, others calling Obama a 'traitor," -- Palin associating him with domestic terrorist...and an Afro-American TV reporter being hassled by the crowd. If we let these Republicans win again these are the types of people we'd be continuing to let rule and mislead our country. I urge their defeat not just in the elections next month, but the elections after that and the election after that until their party is driven into extinction. This will not only help our country but "send the message," that you shouldn't mislead and lie a nation into war, you can't commit war crimes, you can't shred the Constitution, you can't destroy our economy and give away money to the banks while people life savings are stolen. KKK America in power again? Not on my watch. Not while I still have breath. And I hope, sincerely hope, you feel the same. Vote Obama. Defeat Republicans.

POPSAPPLE GENIUS WORTH 8.4 BILLION: Guardian.co.uk's charles ARTHUR
The author puts a keen focus on how we gave Apple enough information to make 8.4 billion seem fair. Extremely sharp and incisive. I learned a lot. I think Mr. Arthur is a bit too quick to be interpreting Steve's algorithm at this point. I find that the program is genius in large part because while Steve Jobs and Apple™ know the tempo of every song to a frightening accuracy. Five seconds of silent thought will tell you the reasons Mr. Jobs will not fill in a BPM (beats per minute) column. To truly understand the tempo manipulation: you;d need to see the algorithm itself! So said, knowing the speeds of the songs I play on drums (it's the drums or the treadmill - I'm doing the exercise thing), I find the program to be almost wildly genius. What's wildly evil os that 1) Apple knows but will not divulge BPM; 2) Apple uses the tempo element of you collection on playlists made for you that are so good that when I play I do not even look at what is coming next as iy has all been so

POPSFacts About Epi Pens Anaphylactic shock is a serious and sometimes deadly reaction that can be experienced by people who have a variety of allergies, including peanut allergies. The most frightening thing about this condition is that it can strike at any time. People most often experience this reaction when they are away from home, and consuming foods with unfamiliar or unlisted ingredients.

POPSCould Palin possibly leave the ticket? Joan Walsh, editor of Salon Magazine online, makes some very wisely observant points about the Palin candidacy, and what a sickeningly cynical choice it was for McCain to pick her as his running-mate.

POPSPalin is Scary She has officially moved into the realm of truly frightening. I used to believe I could vote for McCain but that has become impossible. Palin should not be allowed near the White House let alone within a heartbeat of the Presidency. This interview should not have been difficult (Katie is no Sam Donaldson) or surprising (do you think you might get asked about something you have been repeatedly asked about). She did not rise to the level of small town mayor or governor, let alone Vice President

POPSRussia seeks linkage of Georgia and Iran issues Putin’s comments made it clear to policy-makers in Tehran that the Iranian nuclear issue is nothing more than a bargaining chip in Moscow’s eyes. If the West made concessions to Russia on Georgia, the Kayhan commentary noted, Moscow could be expected to cooperate with the West against Iran.

POPSRFK Jr. on Palin's Big Oil infatuation
Now John McCain has chosen as his running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a diligent student of Big Oil's crib sheets. She's something of a flat-earther who shares the current administration's contempt for science. Palin has expressed skepticism about evolution (which is like not believing in gravity), putting it on par with "creationism," which posits that the Earth was created 6,000 years ago. She used to insist that human activities have nothing to do with climate change. "I'm not one ... who would attribute it to being man-made," she said in August. After she joined the GOP ticket, she magically reversed herself, to a point. "Man's activities certainly can be contributing to the issue of global warming," she told Charles Gibson two weeks ago. Meanwhile, Alaska is melting before our eyes; entire villages erode as sea ice vanishes, glaciers are disappearing at a frightening clip, and "dancing forests" caused by disappearing permafrost astonish residents and tourists. Palin had to

POPSThe Creature From Jekyll Island (Scary Stuff)
In the wake of the Lehman Brothers, bankruptcy, and the long queue of other banks and mortgage companies ready to follow this, old bank, in a freefall slide down the ole' crapper. This is an interesting but frightening piece. The only question I have upon listening, IS... What the hell can we do about it? G. Griffin says, "slay the creature" (federal reserve sys.) in Congress. With an informed electorate this can happen... We must all do our part to bring about change. Clipmarks is one way to GET THE WORD OUT. Education and information is really the answer. If we were all informed, the political nonsense we see upon our BOOB-TUBES would never penetrate the USA psyche. We can't keep going downhill like this. The bottom is harder than ROCK. Please download the mp3 and pass it around. If this enlightens just one person, I have done my bit to help thwart such a dire outcome for our nation and world. If the mp3 is a little much, view youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWKlz2Z4Nlo

POPSSarah Palin on Censorship Sarah Palin has the frightening quality of many who believe they are in possession of revealed, absolute truth: viz. that evidence is irrelevant when it contradicts revealed "truth." New evidence need not be considered, and toleration of it is a fault and temptation that needs to be eradicated. That's why she need not read a book she wants to ban.

POPSSarah Palin's Punch lines full of hot air and lies Quote: "That qualifies her to have her hand on the tiller of American foreign policy in the event that, God forbid, something happens to John McCain? To suggest that is frightening. Really – what if something happens to John McCain. What relevant experience does Sarah Palin have, to be able to sit across the conference table, with negotiators, with the prime ministers and presidents of this world?" the congresswoman said. "As the McCain campaign constantly reminds us, this is a dangerous world."

POPSOil Bubbles Point to Eco Disaster in Paradise
Collapse danger "What is frightening is that the Hoyo appears to be leaking from an area where oil was stored," Jeffery told New Scientist. Nor is the Hoyo Maru the only ship to be leaking oil – although for now, it is the only tanker which has been seen to leak. Jeffery and his colleagues are now seeking Japanese historians and shipping experts who could remotely assess the contents of the Hoyo's oil storage tanks. If the ship is found to contain large amounts of diesel, this will need to be pumped out in order to avoid severe damage to the local biodiversity and economy. The situation is likely to repeat itself around the Pacific over coming years. "A lot of these wrecks are in areas where the communities just don't have the resources to deal with oil pollution," warns Jeffery. In 2003, the US government pumped 10 million litres of fuel from the sunken hull of the USS Mississinewa, a US tanker that was destroyed by the Japanese in 1944 in the Western Pacific.
