POPSThe Daily Show vs. Blovation Fest 2008! I've been watching the Daily Show since its first episode, and I started taking it serriously when Jon upped the IQ quotient by replacing Craig Killborne. Now the show pretty much only does indie film makers, political wonks, and third world presidents. How cool is that? The only people who do more serious interviews are Charlie Rose and Bill Moyers, and actually, Bill Moyers described Jon as "The Mark Twain of our time." But why did I clip? for the "Blovation Fest" Quote, which by the way, will be the festival of avant garde noise-punk music I attempt to put on this fall. ;)

POPSCensorship Disguised as Fairness
Now, poor, abused and deprived leftist politicians are demanding the revival of what they call the Fairness Doctrine, created and enacted for a while in the 1980s, aimed supposedly at balanced use of public airwaves. You may remember that, during the life of that regulation, all media had to struggle to provide equal time to virtually any and every political opinion. It wreaked such expensive havoc and confusion on the airwaves that it became difficult to get anything on. The canny Rupert Murdoch encouraged a “fair and balanced,” though admittedly conservative, Fox News Network, and it eventually it out-rated CNN and all other cable offerings, hands down. Why? Because ordinary citizens liked what they were viewing, and collectively applauded the opinions expressed. And they greatly appreciated hearing and seeing news being reported without the obvious filtering of liberal bias. At last, somebody in broadcasting was giving the public what it clearly wanted.

POPSRice Arrives in Georgia With Cease-Fire Concessions Meanwhile, a flurry of international diplomacy was set in motion, even as regional tensions escalated dramatically over a missile defense deal between the U.S. and Poland — with a top Russian general saying the pact exposes Poland to attack. Gori, about 45 miles west of the capital Tbilisi, is key to when — or if — Russia will honor the terms of a cease-fire that calls for both sides to pull their forces back to the positions they held before fighting broke out last week in the separatist region of South Ossetia. By holding Gori, Russian forces effectively cut the country in half because the city sits along Georgia's only significant east-west highway. Russian military vehicles were blocking the eastern road into the city on Friday, although they allowed in one Georgia bus filled with loaves of bread. President Bush video statement

POPS12-year-old US Girl Escapes Georgian Crisis Watch her interview, it has already been taken down on some sites for some reason. Also the part where she states that Georgia was the aggressor has been omitted from a few, this was how she saw it as, she was in it.

POPSI do not have time to waste on Bill Kristol’s musings Powell’s spokeswoman Peggy Cifrino echoed the former Secretary of State, saying there is “no truth” to Kristol’s claim. “I have no idea why Bill Kristol would be making this statement. There is no imminent endorsement,” Cifrino said. Ouch, what an idiot Kristol is. My favorite part is when Powell said, “I do not have time to waste on Bill Kristol’s musings,”. Score one Colin Powell and ZERO for the clown named Bill Kristol.

POPSFox News: Edwards Yes, Georgia War, No From the article: ERBE: The American public have told pollsters, this political season they want substance. Both these candidates have expressed support for allowing Georgia into NATO. … We could have been on the verge of nuclear war. Those are the kinds of the things that the American public wants to see discussed. JARRETT: Right. You know, but getting back to Edwards, during the Monica Lewinsky affair, Edwards absolutely ripped into Bill Clinton.

POPSThe Most Important Story So Far This Month I join you in your anger, disgust and dismay. I'ts the best news corporate can buy! (0.00 / 0) Between this story and the Matthew McConaughey placenta spectacular, I thank God I've lived long enough to remember what journalism used to be. Including the status of our servicemen and women, there are so many issues to be tackled and this...is the best that media can come up with? I'm too flustered to read more than the headlines of this swill. Specifically gave up on network television news 2 years ago...is print next?

POPSO'Reilly is Just So....Funny! I never had seen this until someone posted it on youtube the other day. I don't watch Bill very much, once in a while I catch his shows and find him to be seriously funny, yet somehow also think he is sad and pathetic, since he seems to actually BELIEVE the crap he is saying. But here he is in yet another humorous yet pitiful moment! Enjoy!

POPSWhite House used FoxNews to shape public opinion Hannity, O'Reilly implicated. "Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow point out that in the US, the government is forbidden to propagandize the public. Fox Cable News head Roger Ailes (a former Republican Party official) and other high executives routinely sent memos to the newsrooms instructing them to spin stories in particular ways"
