POPSOur Hackable Democracy Last month, Princeton researchers submitted a report based on their study of the machines' security, part of an ongoing lawsuit filed by Rutgers Constitutional Litigation Clinic against the state government aimed at decertifying Sequoia machines. The results of the study still aren’t known: A judge placed a gag order on the researchers that prevents them from publishing their work. "Any reasonably talented security researcher can compromise these machines" In fact, California's study of Sequoia's machines found that any poll worker with access to Sequoia's machines could quickly change the results of an election. In 2006, researchers at Princeton found that a Diebold machine could be hacked in less than a minute. (In the six states) There's a possibility their votes will be hacked, lost or miscounted. But that's no excuse not to vote, argues Smith. "You'll just have to take a chance," she says. "The only way to be sure your vote won't count is not to show up.

POPSGoogle Rolled Back The Clock, And Guess What I Found? and is under investigation in at least a dozen states for voter registration fraud. Is it too much to ask of "real" journalists to ask the campaign why Barack Obama ran as the candidate to the left of even the most radical left-wing of the Democratic Party, and has since tried to downplay that radical association? It is now well documented that Barack Obama ran for office and won uncontested as a New Party candidate, but what is the New Party? In 1996, for all intents and purposes, "ACORN and the New Party were essentially the same body." That would be the same ACORN that Barack Obama has close ties to today, the same ACORN that Barack Obama funneled $800,000 to this year, and which is under investigation in at least a dozen states for voter registration fraud. Thanks, Google! Now Perhaps Barack Can Explain His New Party Membership

Does anyone know how to do this, or where to point someone to the answer on this forum? I did a search for Blackberry on here and found a few things but not quite enough info. Thank you for any suggestions.

POPSPalin abused her power as governor No doubt, this will be the 50th version of this report. It is different to the one put out by the Republican Party yesterday in an arrogant attempt to confuse the uneducated.

POPSAlaska Ethics probe says Pain abused her power McCain and Palin are trying to bullshit people, saying that this is a partisan attack, but the public record shows their lie. The probe was started before there was even a hint of a rumour that McCain was going to tap Palin as his VP pick. The committee was bipartisan . That means there was no partisan agenda involved in it. McCain/Palin; they keep lying, and lying, and lying, and lying, and lying... <drum beat in the background>

POPSPanel says Palin abused her authority After seeing the cavalier way that Palin treats everything, it should be no surprise to find out that the Alaska panel found her guilty of abusing her authority in firing an underling who didn't aid her personal agenda in getting an ex-brother-in-law fired. Hopefully this will kill some of the unwarranted support she's gotten for John McCrazy; at least the support from people who aren't just plain stupid.

POPSAlaska Inquiry Concludes Palin Abused Powers The report was released after Alaska lawmakers emerged from a private session in Anchorage where they spent in excess of six hours discussing whether to release the ethics report into the politically charged scandal. Mr. Branchflower based his finding of abuse of power on Alaska’s Executive Branch Ethics Act, which was established to “discourage executive branch employees from acting upon personal interest in the performance of their public responsibilities and to avoid conflicts of interest in the performance of duty,” the report says.

POPSSarah Palin Republican vice-presidential candidate So, Sarah is found to violate the ethics law. Her lawyer says: "There has to be some personal gain." In the next breath, he says: "...failed to identify any financial gain." Isn't vengence 'personal gain'? Don't try to hoodwink us Sarah Palin. Birds of a feather ... you and McCain with his ANGER sysdrome.

POPSPensioners hit the hardest Never! Have been telling lying Labour this for years. So much so that MP's no longer respond to letters. It give me great satisfaction to say to Gay Gordon Marsden and his cronies, "I told you so".

POPSMirror-Image Clues to Life's Origins From the source: The meteorites did this by providing building blocks with a slight preponderance of that handedness (known scientifically as chirality) that makes life possible. "We know that all amino acids start mirror-image the same, but in living things they have this handedness," said Ronald Breslow, a Columbia University researcher who published recently on the topic. "This change doesn't happen spontaneously, and we've never been able to reproduce it in the laboratory" under conditions similar to early Earth. "The answer to where it comes from looks increasingly like meteorites," he added, "from extraterrestrial bodies falling to Earth. It's a complex story, but we're beginning to understand it better."

POPSMakeup Reviews: Anastasia Brow Pen Ladies, I have found the impossible: a product for my eyebrows that I completely adore. Not one that I like. Not one that simply works well. No, this is a product I am wholly, deeply in love with.

POPSObama Brushes Off Terrorist Ties, But CNN Digs Deeper... Whoa! If CNN is now searching...and finding...things are coming out that have been deeply buried. Obama is so new to the political scene that most of his ties are recent and knowable. The man's character, his core values, and his concept of our United States are very, very important. Where an Obama Presidency and Administration would lead us could effect our very foundation and security.

POPSThe Constitution Lives! Almost killed by rebubbacans, making a comeback.
Members of the area's Uighur community reacted to the decision with jubilation. "We won!" one attendee exclaimed after the hearing, setting off a loud cheer. Scores of detainees are challenging their detentions in federal court after winning a Supreme Court ruling in June that gave them the right to have their cases reviewed by federal judges under the legal doctrine of habeas corpus. The government suffered a major setback in June when a federal appeals court found the evidence against one Uighur to be so weak that it compared the government's legal theories to a nonsensical 19th-century poem, Lewis Carroll's "The Hunting of the Snark." The court ordered the man, Huzaifa Parhat, released, transferred or offered a new military hearing. The government chose not to retry Parhat and announced it would no longer treat him as an enemy combatant. It subsequently did the same for four others and added the final 12 late last month.

POPSWhy nature can't be reduced to mathematical laws If so, then even perfect knowledge of the physics at one level would be inadequate for understanding organisation at higher levels. This conjecture has been debated ever since. Now Mile Gu at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, and colleagues, claim that it may be possible to prove Anderson's idea. They studied a basic mathematical model called the Ising model, which is often used to study how magnetism arises in iron and other materials from the collective organisation of their atoms. Using the model, the team focused on whether the pattern that the atoms adopt under various scenarios, such as a state of lowest energy, could be calculated from knowledge of those forces. They found that in some scenarios, the pattern of atoms could not be calculated from knowledge of the forces - even given unlimited computing power. In mathematical terms, the system is considered "formally undecidable".
