POPSFlu zombies reported in Mexico City The flu zombies first appeared saturday night as the city sewer system failed and manhole covers were seen being shoved aside. The 'walking dead' have been impossible to negotiate with simply because they're dead, but Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has sent a forward team to attempt negotiations as early as Wednesday. Sporadic gunfire could be head as Mexico's Head of National Security urged people in a televised address 'to remain calm and eat an enchillata.' Attempts to bribe the zombies reportedly failed when Treasury Secretary Juan Corona attempted to meet with the zombies and was promptly eaten.

POPSThe NeverEndingSandStory We did it. We did it. We did it. Sometimes 10 miles a year, sometimes 20 miles of good earth blowing away in South America, North America, North Africa, Western Russia, Australia, and China with a vengance. Why more sand? During the 1960s in Russia, China, India, and North America lands that were never farmed intensively were - now they are blowing in the wind.

POPSWomen Take the Lead As long as I can remember, there’s been a world map hanging in my grandmother’s kitchen. When I called to let her know I was off to Liberia soon, she was quiet for a minute and then yelped when she found the small west African country — just about the size of Tennessee — located between Cote d’Ivorie, Guinea and Sierra Leone. Over the coming few weeks we both learned a lot more about Liberia.

POPSEasy Guide to What’s Allowed and What’s Banned on Airplanes Trying to pack for a trip which includes air travel can be very stressful in itself, but with the new safety restrictions and the ever-changing admissibility status of fresh and packaged food items and things can get very confusing. Here is a guide that would hopefully answer most of your packing-related quandries.

POPS ObamaCare's ‘Fat Police’ The voice of common sense, other than Hoenig, came from Wayne Rogers, whose problem centered around the money allocated to the likes of ACORN without any specified powers. It will be part of Our Lord and Savior’s civilian national security force, or Obama’s brownshirt brigade and Hitler youth.

POPSGrowing Poverty and Despair in America Worst of all, conditions for most people are deteriorating as businesses, states, and local governments shed workers and cut budgets at the worst possible time. It promises harder times ahead and potentially millions more impoverished.

POPSClimate Change Seen as Threat to U.S. Security “We will pay for this one way or another,” Gen. Anthony C. Zinni, a retired Marine and the former head of the Central Command, wrote recently in a report he prepared as a member of a military advisory board on energy and climate at CNA, a private group that does research for the Navy. “We will pay to reduce greenhouse gas emissions today, and we’ll have to take an economic hit of some kind. “Or we will pay the price later in military terms,” he warned. “And that will involve human lives.”

POPSHow House Bill Runs Over Grandma The author mentions the likes of Stephen Hawkins. Ok..he might be worth saving. But what about those pace-makers, the hip-replacements, the cancer treatments, etc....? Counseling every 5 yrs.? Can you imagine the horror of knowing that your appointment is coming and someone might suggest that you might...for the good of society...want to take a really, really happy pill? Imagine all that will be saved in Social Security. (yuck!) I know my MIL lived 2 yrs. beyond any quality of life...but I'm not pulling the feeding tube!!! My mother is here with me, receiving full-time care from me with the help of some wonderful people at Elder Care. She needs help with walking, bathing, dressing....but she enjoys the home-life, the great-G-children, good food, security and reading. She would be a candidate for those counseling sessions. :~(

POPSWhy Africa depends on handouts Western farm subsidies undercut African agriculture: Subsidized US-grown crops are sold in Africa at less than it cost to produce them, making Africa-grown crops impossible to sell, and driving African farmers out of business.

POPSThe Food Crisis Will Be Back More than 1 billion people, or every one in six, are starving, according to a report issued by the U.N. Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) on June 19. The number of the hungry increased worldwide by about 100 million in 2008 alone, a hike of 11 percent. "The silent hunger crisis...poses a serious risk for world peace and security," said FAO Director General Jacques Diouf. http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2009-07/07/content_11668272.htm Global warming, top soil degradation, and water mis-appropriation can all be linked to the decreases in production that in turn lead to food inflation. One Stanford study stated that rice and corn harvest has decreased 20-40% as global temperatures continue to rise. Lester Brown states that for every degree C the earth warms above normal, production yields decrease by 10%. http://www.examiner.com/x-9508-Honolulu-Environmental-News-Examiner~y2009m7d7-Environmental-factors-to-blame-for-rising-food-crisis

POPSWhat is your political philosophy? Take the truth test!
My mother's other sin, (besides financial irresponsibility) was processing a false pride. She went to a government food distribution facility to collect such bulk staples as cheese, peanut butter and powdered milk, once or twice but found the experience quite humiliating and never went back... So hunger rejoined our family. You don't ask to be born nor to you have a choice as to what type of guardian/parent you will receive. Little children who have to live in abject poverty because they were conceived by unenlightened, uninformed and yes, ignorant parents (who were raised possibly by the same) are one of the main reasons for Liberalism. The very old and the very young are the vulnerable ones in any society. They have little or no tools for survival. And if government can't help them, most will fall prey to the very dark side of life. Pain and despair for these unfortunates are a way of life.
