POPSHandbook for Living 17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. 18. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with His/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness. 19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others. 20. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present. 21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you. 22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime. 23. Smile and laugh more. 24. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

POPSBin Laden Message to Europe: Withdraw from Afghanistan I clipped the most intriguing phrases. Go to clip source to read entire message. The closing paragraph: His message seems to be Europe, you still have a chance. Don't go down with the American ship. Happy is whoever learns a lesson from the mistakes committed by others. Modest precautions are better than expensive follow-up care. Returning to truth is better than insisting on falsehood. And peace be upon those who follow the path of righteousness.

POPSSome of our foods are poisons!
This subject will always be actual. It's our life, after all. Modifying old sentence, we are eating to live, not to suffer from what we eat. And drink. So, better check what you eat and especially how you feed your kids; not force them to pay for our mistakes and our inaction toward crooks, making living on our health. There are many bizarre theories in food and medical science to be revised and as soon as we start to do that as better. How many troubles can be prevented! First of all it is the notion that we can safely eat artificial food, practically plastic. We are not! We cannot be healthier neither with synthetic food, nor with chemical medicines. Even naturally occurred remedies have to be applied carefully. Chemical "revolution" of past century in relation to our life and health is over. One more remark. Please note, that not all toxins are poisons and most dangerous stuff in our food not toxins, which are produced by some microbes, but man made poisons, added there by stu

POPSHow to eat to best fuel exercise More: Post exercise…eat something within 15 minutes…the enzymes that help the body re-synthesize muscle glycogen are really most active in that first 15 minutes. The longer we wait to eat something, the longer it takes to recover…to prevent that delayed-onset muscle soreness, refueling is part of it… How we drink can make a difference in how optimally we hydrate our body. A lot of people sip liquids, but gulping is better. Gulps of fluid leave the stomach more rapidly. It’s important to do this. It seems counterintuitive, it seems like gulping would cause a cramp. People are more likely to have stomach cramps sipping because fluid stays in their gut too long. When you take…gulps as opposed to sips, you have a greater volume of fluid in the stomach. That stimulates the activity of the stretch receptors in the stomach, which then increase intra-gastric pressure and promote faster emptying. This is why gulping is preferred.

POPS6 Food Mistakes Parents Make
I have a 7 yr old and here are some of my observations that jibe with this article: 1. He is more likely to try a new or questionable food if I leave the room for a bit. 2. He is also more likely to want to try something if I tell him it's so good it's all for me and he isn't allowed to have any (seems to simple, but it works!) 3. I've read somewhere that a new food has to be put in front of a child an average of 10 times before they will try it. I always add in foods that I want my son to try and tell him if he doesn't want it to leave it on his plate. 4. I'm a big fan of food camouflaging. I put thin slices of apple in quesadillas and grate carrots and broccoli into spaghetti sauce, chili and sloppy joes. I also make a mean chicken noodle soup. I use a ton of veggies in the broth and then process and blend them and re-add them to the soup so the only thing he's chewing is chicken and noodles, but he's getting vitamins and minerals from celery, onion, peppers, broccoli, carrots,

POPSMassachusetts Bakery Distributes Wheat Berries for Customers to Grow in Their Yards the old ways are often touted as being the best, this is an idea who's time has come back around. We have made some fundamental mistakes allowing our food production to go corporate, this may be a start at reclaiming our agrarian birthright. The further a thing moves away from it's center, the more corrupt it becomes, perhaps it is time to revisit the concept of village.

POPSHow Government Regulation effects oil prices at the pump
As is usually the case with government intervention into private enterprise the unexpected results are usually far worse than the original problem congress set out to solve. Doesn't anybody study history anymore? It was not that long ago that the same ideas were floating around congress during the Carter years. Anyone remember the odd even gas days and the long lines at the pumps because of the government forced oil shortages of the 70's Among other mistakes from that period, the government increased the taxes levied on domestic oil producers, as if that would somehow help. The result was “reduced domestic oil production from between 3 and 6 percent, and increased oil imports from between 8 and 16 percent.” The government also instituted price controls, which only served to create the notorious gas shortages of that era. Yes, price controls meant consumers could get cheaper gas — but only after waiting in long gas lines and only if stations didn’t run out first.

POPSObese People to Be Banned By Miss. Restaurants This is hysterical. I know I have an obese cousin who is eating himself to death. My aunt is aiding and abetting. Instead of not letting overly obese people in restaurants, they should force all of them to join Weight Watchers or wire their mouth shut. That was sarcasm for those who didn't know. I am tired how we are constantly trying to babysit people that are old enough to vote. They know the dangers of overeating, smoking, drugs, etc., so there is nothing we can do but let them realize the mistakes they are making on their own. It's ridiculous this bill was even thought up in the first place.

POPSWhat's up with all these products from China being contaminated. This trend is becoming obvious. If you read the whole of this short article it gives a step by step scenario of what could have happened to cause the same contaminated product to reappear. Frankly this seems to be getting a bit obvious with all this garbage coming out of China. Their unemployment rate has likely been lowered by becoming the main supplier of deadly products for the American. While our unemployment is skyrocketing along side our risk of death by overseas products. I'm getting disgusted. And please. If you're Chinese and living in the states don't take this as a jab by someone that is prejudiced. I'm not a moron...you are just as vulnerable! Of course, unless you purchase all of your food ( as well as dog and cat food), and hygene products directly from China. Then again, they're reaping the 'benefits' too. I'm curious about what is in store for those who attend the Olympic games.

POPSBob Kerrey on Iraq Suppose we had not invaded Iraq and Hussein had been overthrown by Shiite and Kurdish insurgents. Suppose al Qaeda then undermined their new democracy and inflamed sectarian tensions to the same level of violence we are seeing today. Wouldn't you expect the same people who are urging a unilateral and immediate withdrawal to be urging military intervention to end this carnage? I would. American liberals need to face these truths: The demand for self-government was and remains strong in Iraq despite all our mistakes and the violent efforts of al Qaeda, Sunni insurgents and Shiite militias to disrupt it. With these facts on the scales, what does your conscience tell you to do? If the answer is nothing, that it is not our responsibility or that this is all about oil, then no wonder today we Democrats are not trusted with the reins of power. Mr. Kerrey, a former Democratic senator from Nebraska and member of the 9/11 Commission
