POPSMom's Confession!:Balloon Boy Cops' Smoking Gun: Mom's Confession!
Balloon Boy's mother, Mayumi Heene, has admitted to investigators that the whole "my son flew away" thing was a hoax and that she and her husband, Richard, knew all along that Falcon was asleep at home. "The motive for the fabricated story was to make the Heene family more marketable for future media interest," states the search warrant served on the family's home last week, which was obtained by the Coloradoan. In fact, according to Mayumi, Richard built the flying saucer-shaped balloon expressly for this stunt, which had the world believing for a couple fraught hours that there was a little boy trapped in a nightmare straight out of the pages of Roald Dahl. "The fact that they're releasing an affidavit before an arrest is made—I've never seen that before," Richard Heene's attorney, David Lane, told the Coloradoan, adding that he had not yet seen the document. "It's further proof of what that sheriff will do to further his own agenda and try to make it unfair to the Heenes.

POPSSheriff: Charges will be filed in balloon saga "We were looking at Class 3 misdemeanor, which hardly seems serious enough given the circumstances," Alderden said. "We are talking to the district attorney, federal officials to see if perhaps there aren't additional federal charges that are appropriate in this circumstance."

POPS The Truth May Be … Out There Anyway, I don’t know if there was a publicity-grabbing hoax plotted, or if an opportunity was seized on the fly, or if it all innocently happened the way Balloon Dad says it did. But whatever happened yesterday, I have a sneaking suspicion the flying Jiffy Pop balloon was not originally conceived, built and being tested as an innovative commuting vehicle. It’s not for nothing Shepard Smith and everyone else was comparing that thing to a UFO yesterday. Maybe, like the Richard Dreyfuss character in ”Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” Richard Heene was just strangely compelled to make his experimental 3DLAV commuting device look like a traditional Roswell-inspired flying saucer hoax.

POPSFamily at Center of Balloon Saga Faces Scrutiny Read it all! These are crazy publicity-seekers. "authorities would need to bring a criminal case before attempting to recoup restitution costs for the thousands of dollars spent to search for the boy, an effort that involved military helicopters, a ground rescue and even a mounted posse. Officials also rerouted planes around the balloon's flight path and briefly shut down Denver International Airport. They should do just that!

POPS FOUND SAFE AT HOME!!! A sheriff's official said the boy climbed into a box attached to balloon before it floated away from the family's home, but the basket was not found at the crash site. The harrowing scene played out live on TV as initial reports that the child was in the flying saucer-shaped balloon, raising fears that he was in grave danger hurtling through the air at alarming speeds. Some eyewitnesses said they saw something drop from the balloon while it was still in the air, but the ground search had yet to turn up the boy as of Thursday evening. Cathy Davis of the Larimer County Sheriff's Department told reporters the balloon was owned by the boy's parents and tethered behind the family's home. She said two sons were playing outside when the older boy saw the younger one go into a compartment at the bottom of the balloon and fly away. POPSConversation With an Alien With a faint whirring the flying saucer leaped above the roofs, hesitated for a few moments, and then disappeared among the stars, forever. I went back to my vegetarian imitation turkey, suddenly realizing that all the anger and the guilt that had been haunting me all day were gone - replaced with a sense of an accomplished mission. Come to think of it, I just saved a whole alien world from the corruptive American influence! It felt almost as good as when the US Forces withdrew from Vietnam and Somalia, or when we defeated Republicans in the midterm elections. I adjusted the electronic shiatsu massage pad on my couch and turned on CNN.

POPS"Brit firm to demo serious flying robo-saucer in 2009" http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/08/27/gfs_saucers_to_get_serious/ Oh great - the UK has more CCTV camera's than anywhere else; now they'll actually be able to follow us home. I guess it was inevitable the concept has featured in many Sci Fi scenarios over the years.

POPSThe World's First Flying Saucer: Made Right Here on Earth Using an onboard source of energy (such as a battery, ultracapacitor, solar panel or any combination thereof), the electrodes will send an electrical current into the plasma, causing the plasma to push against the neutral (noncharged) air surrounding the craft, theoretically generating enough force for liftoff and movement in different directions (depending on where on the craft's surface you direct the electrical current). The concept sounds far-fetched, but U.F. mechanical and aerospace engineering associate professor Subrata Roy plans to have a mini model ready to demonstrate his theory within the next year.

POPSIonised air to power flying saucers They're still testing, and when they discovered the principle, they thought it was anti gravity, but it turned out to be dependent on the earth's magnetic field. Sounds like a far more efficient way of flying than aircraft fuel. They might take a while to learn how to steer it. I wonder how many passengers they'll hold. Spinning around sounds bad for airsickness, and in flight meals.
