POPSBreaking: Treasury I-G Agrees to Probe ACORN those dollars were misused in anyway." "I am heartened by the agreement of the Treasury Department's Inspector General to examine the troubling financial questions that have been raised about ACORN," said Senator Collins. "This is the first step in the right direction toward much-needed transparency. As I've noted before, at a time when so many American families are facing difficult economic situations, it is completely unacceptable that even one penny of taxpayer money be misused. We must bring all agencies and groups that use taxpayer funds into the spotlight of accountability." Last week, Senator Collins and Rep. Issa made a formal joint request that seven Offices of Inspectors General, including Treasury, probe the activities of ACORN, a community advocacy organization. By Matthew Vadum

POPS13 Doctors Demand Inquest Into Dr David Kelly's Death Mr Halpin said that he lost more than 6,000 pieces of correspondence - many relating to Dr Kelly - during his investigation, explaining that the mystery began when the 'firewall' on his computer, which all similar machines are fitted with as a security measure, became inactive without warning. His emails started disappearing as though they were being sifted remotely. 'I believe this will have been done by a state-sponsored agency and not by an amateur acting singly,' he said. Dr Kelly's death may have been linked to the secret world of germ warfare research. Until his death Dr Kelly was privy to some of the state's most sensitive information and worked closely with the intelligence services of all the major industrialised countries.

POPSSpam on the Wall I have had it with facebook anyway now I need to tell friends & family to look out as well. Even though I know that they will never understand the tech speak, I feel it is my duty to tell it to as many as who will listen. I have good security, but some people actually believe that their Windows Defender and Firewall will do the job. WRONG !! The real killer about facebook is they are now using hi tech backdoor Trojan viruses and worms now. Brothers & sisters if you have enough money to buy and use a PC, you had better be protecting it. $50 a year is a lot cheaper than having to have it reconditioned or relaced, and with the hi-jacking you're gonna lose your privacy as well. I know that it seems like a hassle to have to re-enter your credit card info and other stuff (passwords etc),but I only store mine in my Norton toolbar, and no one can get in but me. More to follow

POPSIs Windows 7 the Best Windows Ever? Faced with the possibility of a so-called upgrade from XP I’ve been reading any review of Windows 7 I can find. So far the reviews are favorable but I would like more than one month experience to decide. XP is set up just about perfectly for me and I am not eager to leave it. Has anyone out there switched yet? Maybe others would like to hear of your thoughts on it too.

POPSFirewall Policies and VPN Configurations
The security provided by firewalls and VPNs is only as strong as the protocol rules and policies that you create. The concepts of defense-in-depth and least privilege are merely holes in your perimeter waiting to be exploited, unless you can define and maintain protocol rules that allow only the minimum protocols required to provide your requisite services. This book provides fundamental information necessary to configure firewalls and build VPNs and DMZs to survive the dangers of todays internet. The book includes a bonus chapter from the companion Web site on using Ethereal to monitor and analyze network traffic. While you may now feel overwhelmed by the countless firewalls with a dizzying array of features, you will feel empowered by the knowledge gained from this book. This book covers the leading firewall products. It describes in plain English what features can be controlled by a policy, and walks the reader through the steps for writing the policy to fit the objective. Because o
