POPSPETA's dirty secrets: 7 things you didn't know about PETA
More: regularly target children as young as six years old with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda, often waiting outside their schools to intercept them as they walk to and from class-without notifying parents.… PETA…fund the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a deceptive animal rights group that promotes itself as an unbiased source of medical and nutritional information… PETA…billboards taunt Christians with the message that hogs "died for their sins."…And its infamous "Holocaust on Your Plate" campaign crassly compares the Jewish victims of Nazi genocide with farm animals. PETA has repeatedly attacked research foundations like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, because they support animal-based research that might uncover cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases…president Ingrid Newkirk has said that "even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it."

POPSBoston Plans Livestock-Type Flu Vaccine and Tag Program Mmmooo...People will be herded, shot, tagged, and treated like cattle. Welcome to the human plantation where the government is the proverbial Farmer from Orwell's dictatorial Animal Farm....in America. . This is phase 1 under the plea of "necessity" of course. More "experiments" will come later as the sheep get used to it.

POPSFarm Factory Food: Chicks being ground up alive. Hy-Line said the video "appears to show an inappropriate action and violation of our animal welfare policies," referring to chicks on the factory floor. But the company also noted that "instantaneous euthanasia" – a reference to killing of male chicks by the grinder – is a standard practice supported by the animal veterinary and scientific community. Story continues below According to Mercy for Animals, male chicks are of no use to the industry because they can't lay eggs and don't grow large or quickly enough to be raised profitably for meat. That results in the killing of 200 million male chicks a year. Hy-Line says on its Web site that its Iowa facility produces 33.4 million chicks. Based on that figure, Mercy for Animals estimates a similar number of male chicks are killed at the facility each year.

POPSThe Cow Pie BioGas and Flu Connection When you take cow pies from dairy farms and from feed lots around the world and dump them into an anaerobic digester as well as manure fro pig farms and from chicken and utrkey farms - you get methane gas that can be bottled, piped and will burn more cleanly than carbon based gas. AND, and, and since during the digester process, the manure is raisde to over 104 degrees F for more than three hours, the viruses that carry influenza to ppigs and people are killed, do not mutate into new forms and other nasty viruses that kill animals and humans are also zapped. Fill up on cow, pig and chicken plop for a healthier planet!

POPSFamily Farmers: No NAIS in our name National Animal Identification System (NAIS) is designed to protect the health of livestock and the economic well-being of those industries by quickly and effectively tracing an animal disease to its source. So sayeth the federal government. NAIS poses the greatest threat to local and sustainable agriculture since the Nixon administration. NAIS was originally designed to give huge corporations help with export markets. It will not stop animal disease or improve food safety. So sayeth those who oppose another layer of bureaucracy that severely cripples the livelihood of independent farmers and ranchers. NAIS is not legislation but a program designed by USDA bureaucrats with the help of businessmen and manufacturers of ID tags and will only enrich the corporations that already control most of our food supply. So sayeth everyone who knows how government really works.

POPSOrganic Versus Conventional Food: UK Report Flawed
One of the biggest hurtles to reforming our food system in the United States is our unwillingness to acknowledge at the governmental level the superiority of sustainable agriculture. Leaving aside the nutrient question, organic agriculture helps improve the soil, protects farm workers from exposure to toxic chemicals, places an emphasis on animal welfare, and keeps toxic runoff out of our waterways. In so doing, sustainable agriculture improves not just our personal health, but our collective environmental health. The nutrient content in our food is going down because our soil is being degraded. Sustainable agriculture, by contrast, improves the food we eat by improving our environment. Instead of focusing on puny reports that tell us next to nothing and yet dominate the media with simple binaries, we should be taking an integrative approach to analyzing data and therefore face the hard truths before us. Sustainable agriculture improves the food we eat by improving our environment.

POPSAmazon Erases Orwell Books From Kindle Amazon appears to have deleted other purchased e-books from Kindles recently. Customers commenting on Web forums reported the disappearance of digital editions of the Harry Potter books and the novels of Ayn Rand over similar issues. Amazon’s published terms of service agreement for the Kindle does not appear to give the company the right to delete purchases after they have been made. It says Amazon grants customers the right to keep a “permanent copy of the applicable digital content.”

POPSAmazon Erases Orwell Books From Kindle
Amazon effectively acknowledged that the deletions were a bad idea. “We are changing our systems so that in the future we will not remove books from customers’ devices in these circumstances,” Mr. Herdener said. Customers whose books were deleted indicated that MobileReference, a digital publisher, had sold them. An e-mail message to SoundTells, the company that owns MobileReference, was not immediately returned. Digital books bought for the Kindle are sent to it over a wireless network. Amazon can also use that network to synchronize electronic books between devices — and apparently to make them vanish. An authorized digital edition of “1984” from its American publisher, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, was still available on the Kindle store Friday night, but there was no such version of “Animal Farm.” People who bought the rescinded editions of the books reacted with indignation, while acknowledging the literary ironies involved. “Of all the books to recall,” said Charles Slat
