POPSLouisa Ball has rare SLEEPING BEAUTY SICKNESS
Soon the youngster was out like a light for as long as ten days at a time. Surveyor Richard, 44, says: "It was very hard to wake her but we knew we had to give her food and water and get her to the toilet before she fell asleep again." Doctors at the family's local hospital in Worthing, West Suusex, examined Louisa but told her mum and dad they had no idea what was wrong, saying it could be hormonal. She was referred to St George's Hospital in Tooting last year March where a paediatric consultant diagnosed Kleine-Levin Syndrome - a rare form of hypersomnia in children also called Sleeping Beauty Sickness. There is no known cause - but the good news for Louise, who has a 14-year-old brother, Ross - is that it usually disappears in adulthood. But that's little comfort to her now. "I was really upset when I went to sleep at the beginning of our week's caravan holiday and woke up when it was over!" says Louise. "Ross had a great time with our friends, and I missed out ....

POPSAustralian twins learn of brother's Sydney car crash death 'from Facebook' Becoming increasingly concerned, their mother then rang the local police station to ask if the messages were correct. An officer then confirmed her son had died in the crash six hours earlier. Sydney police have since been forced to defend their actions, saying the family were informed because authorities had been unable to confirm the dead teenager’s identify. "I didn't get it. All these people were writing, 'RIP Chris Naylor' and 'RIP Bobby', and I thought: 'What's going on?'," Angela told local media. “I kept ringing and messaging but couldn't get on to him. So I rang Mum and said: ‘Chris Naylor must have died - I just read it on Facebook. But where's Bobby? People are writing about Bobby, too’,” she said. Her mother then replied: “Bobby was with Chris Naylor last night.”

POPSPURE EVIL Taliban commanders used to come to our house. There was an underground bunker beside the house, with electricity. It was concrete and very strong. Cars would drive on top but no-one would realise what was underneath. In that hideout they used to train suicide bombers. Most were children of my age or younger than me. They were used for these activities because they were too young to know any better. Going to 'paradise' I used to see these children getting on a vehicle to go for their missions. They used loud Islamic CDs to motivate them. And I would think, "My God, more Muslims are going to be buried". Then the news would come that more Muslims were wiped out.

POPSObama Prays for Civility. Gets Criticized. This clip takes a humorous spin on yesterday's event, President Obama appearing at a political 'Prayer Breakfast.' In other articles it's noted the President called for more civility in our politics (lots of luck). Finally responded to those idiots who say he's not an American citizen (good luck) and on the most serious point: Ask Uganda to not approve the death penalty for homosexuality. This 'humorous,' clip makes a point that others would try to hide: USA right wing wacko groups, under the guise of being missionaries and/or Christians, have been pushing Uganda in this direction for decades. Just like they did in several South American countries. Sometimes affiliated with the 'International Republican Institute," or groups like 'The Family,' (aka The Fellowship) that also been in the news a lot.

POPSSpikey, Dog Rescued From Flooded L.A. River, Is Reunited With Owner Photo: Maria Medina and Ramon Medina look on as animal care technician Stephanie Webster says goodbye to Spikey during a ceremony Feb. 2. Credit: Anne Cusack / Los Angeles Times A family friend reclaimed Spikey at the SEAACA shelter last week on Medina’s behalf, but the dog remained at the shelter for several additional days. When the friend arrived at the shelter, Spikey “just went crazy, his tail flapping,” the organization’s director of operations, Aaron Reyes, told our sister blog L.A. Now. “We see it all the time: Gosh, he really knows this guy.” The firefighter, Joe St. Georges, suffered a fractured thumb and lost a fingernail during the dramatic river rescue, which was broadcast live on many TV news stations. He told reporters that he didn’t blame the dog, however, because “ cold, he’s wet, he’s scared, and then here’s this stranger jumping on his back for all intents and purposes, and he did what dogs do.”

POPSBrown: 'Humbled' by White House Talk, But Doesn’t Rule Out 2012 Run
Brown: 'I'm a Scott Brown Republican' In an Exclusive Interview on 'This Week,' The newly elected Massachusetts senator made it clear he's not your typical Republican referring to himself as a "Scott Brown Republican" and said he's fiscally conservative but more moderate on social issues, especially his stance on abortion. During ABC News' exclusive interview on "This Week," Brown told guest host Barbara Walters that while he opposes federal funding for abortion, a woman should have the right to choose whether to have one. "I feel this issue is best handled between a woman and her doctor and her family," Brown said. He called for more effort on reducing the number of abortions and said he is against partial-birth abortions. "The difference between me and maybe others is that I'm very -- I'm against partial-birth abortions. I'm against federal funding of abortions. And I believe in a strong parental consent notification law.”

POPSAn eyewitness description of Blackwater's Nisoor Square shootings (Sept. 2007) The father of a nine-year-old boy, Ali Kinani, killed by Blackwater employees in September 2007 in what was apparently an unprovoked massacre of unarmed civilians, is now suing the Blackwater employees he thinks were responsible. This article provides a rundown of some of the currently available information, including Kinani's own eyewitness account of the incident. It makes pretty harrowing reading. The federal lawsuit against Blackwater was recently dismissed; the company attempted to settle with Kinani in the matter of his son's death for $20,000. (One official remarked that it was important to keep the settlements low, because otherwise Iraqis might try "to get killed by our guys to financially guarantee their family's future.")

POPSNot Just A Status Quo-Overturning Political Insurgent * If Obama says “Bipartisan” or “Bipartisanship,” the back section of the bar yells “Yes,” while the front section yells “No.” Whichever side is louder should take a drink. Or take a drink after you lock arms with a person next to you (like a romantic toast). * Every time the camera shows the Supreme Court justices not standing, take a drink and then recite your Miranda rights. * If the camera shows Joe Wilson, yell “You lie” and then take a drink. If Joe Wilson yells “You lie,” finish everything in your glass. Treach says these are just “some” of the rules, but doesn’t say what the others are. I guess that means you can make up your own. Here’s one. The first time he says “responsibility,” start a chugging ”wave” that goes around the room stadium-style. See how long you can keep it going. It stops when he says “prior administration” or “inherited.” Also, everytime he says “anger,” jut your jaw and defiantly knock back .....

POPSHeisman Trophy Winner Tim Tebow in SuperBowl Ad I think it's great that Tim Tebow is not afraid to share his Faith with others. It's amazing that a wholesome message would be considered controversial, but commercials with less wholesome messages gather little to no publicity. Or when Christians oppose a message, we are adamantly (and rightfully) reminded of "Free Speech". Read more here:
