POPSThe Victims of Fort Hood
According to an officer who served with him at Walter Reed Hospital, Hasan spoke approvingly of the shooting of Army recruiters this past summer by a Muslim convert in Little Rock, Arkansas. Authorities also investigated Hasan as long as six months ago for internet postings discussing suicide bombings and other attacks, though they have not yet determined definitively if he was the author of those posts. One of those posts was a blog entry that deified suicide bombers as being similar to soldiers who throw themselves on hand grenades in order to save the lives of their fellow soldiers. A cousin, Nader Hasan, builds a picture of the shooter as a bullied Muslim who was a good person who did not even like weapons, was conflicted about his military service, and was against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. But postings that are thought to be Major Hasan’s don’t match the portrait of a soldier who was conflicted. They present us with a picture of someone who housed beliefs that

POPSFlorida Buries the Islamist Threat to Rifqa Bary "If you are a blogger, or post at forums, please spread the word about this case. The Muslim Brotherhood and its useful idiots on the Left are close to achieving a major propaganda success with this probe, and only massive negative publicity will have a chance of turning it around — and possibly saving Rifqa Bary’s life" --Baron

POPSA Story Of Rape, Shame, And Honor Killing "At the employee's insistence, lab workers using freshly acquired DNA-testing equipment drew a sample from the fetus. The prison guards were ordered to submit DNA samples and did so, apparently unaware of the sophistication of the morgue equipment and the people trained to use it. The DNA results showed that the father of the unborn baby was a police lieutenant colonel who reportedly supervised guards at the prison. In another society, the scientific evidence would have led to arrests and prosecution. But this being Iraq, the power wielded by men in uniform and the belief that a raped woman is better off dead combined to cloud the truth."

POPSCOLLECTIVE PUNISHEMENT FOR FAMILIES Not ever do I support guerrilla war fare and suicide bombings to keep the cause alive and harm the occupier, but I certainly will not support Israels lashing out with its own shock and awe and indiscriminate killings of civilians. The destruction of homes and shelters for Palestinian families associated with a militant has and will not ever be right.

POPSWhy is Islamic Rule Always So Brutal? Estemirova said two of the women were married, with two children each. Their husbands held large funerals and buried them in the family plot, which would not have happened if the women had disgraced their families, she said. Kadyrov's version also has been contradicted by federal prosecutors in Moscow, who have concluded relatives were not involved.... Kadyrov's office refused to comment on the investigators' conclusion. The Moscow newspaper Novaya Gazeta reported that some of the women worked in brothels frequented by Kadyrov's men. Many Chechens say they suspect the women were killed in a police operation. The truth of the killings may never be known, given how much Kadyrov is feared. Rights activists fear that Kadyrov's approval of honor killings may encourage men to carry them out. Honor killings are considered part of Chechen tradition. No records are kept, but human rights activists estimate dozens of women are killed every year.

POPSGovernor Perry Wants U.S. Troops Guarding Border
Perry said his presence in El Paso also was meant to send a message that Texas is willing to protect Juárez Mayor José Reyes Ferriz, who received death threats from a Mexican drug cartel and moved his family to El Paso. On Tuesday, Reyes' staff said that the mayor carried out his normal duties in Juárez, including a Mexican Flag Day ceremony, and that he would continue to remove corrupt officers from the city's police force. And the violence has continued with multiple killings daily. A total of eight homicides occurred Monday in Juárez. On Wednesday, members of the Mexican federal government's Security Cabinet will meet in Juárez with local and state officials to discuss what to do about the violence. Mexican authorities also continued their investigation into the attack Sunday against Chihuahua Gov. José Reyes Baeza Terrazas' bodyguards, in which one agent was killed. One of the gunmen suspected in the attack, a former Mexican soldier, was wounded.

POPSThe Left and a Woman's Severed Head For those American feminists and Muslim-Americans who still insist that beheadings and domestic violence/femicide against Muslim girls and women has absolutely, definitely, positively, nothing to do with Islam or Muslims: I dunno. Ask Nonie Darwish, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Wafa Sultan, Robert Spencer, Geert Wilders, read Nonie's recent book Cruel and Usual Punishment, about the nature of Sharia law and Muslim women. My God, talk to Muslim feminist dissident-activists like UK-based Maryam Namazie, or the group “Muslims against Sharia Law”

POPSRIP --beautiful Aqsa Parvez Another gorgeous girl dies at the hands of her "family"....and the gruesome 'honour killing' death toll continues. This story is even more distressing in that a movement to try and place a proper marker/memorial( in place of the number 774) on her grave has been met with both a stunning refusal from her family (also her executioners) and, of course, spineless bs spouted by the ongoing fear based 'DHIMMITUDE ' that continues to plague supposed 'civilized nations' worldwide. Pam Geller from Atlas Shrugged is on the case...GO PAM!! http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/12/canada-no-heads.html

POPSOhio family found dead in suspected murder-suicide It was the second time this week that a family died in an apparent murder-suicide. On Tuesday, the bodies of Ervin Antonio Lupoe, his wife and five children were found in their Los Angeles, California, area home after Lupoe faxed a letter to a local television station explaining that he and his wife had lost their jobs and felt it was better to end their lives. Police resisted the suggestion that the killings were motivated by finances or job loss

POPSDon't "Give A Give A Give A Garmin" (h/t Indiana Law Blog) I'm a lover of all things that are gadgets, and GPS toys are a favorite of mine, but this article discusses the use of GPS data from a defendant's Garmin device. Eric Hanson had evidence introduced by prosecutors in his murder trial was used to pinpoint his location on the morning of the crime. Score one for the prosecutors on this front. I suspect we will begin to see more of this sooner rather than later. GPS chips are installed on all new cell phones now. My new phone I recently picked up has builtin GPS navigation software which is brilliant, but knowing that the boys at the NSA's Fort Meade, MD SIGINT farm can pinpoint my location anytime they want is kind of scary.

POPS"Honor Killings" In America but multiculturalism hits a crossroads when honor killings come to America. The United States has avoided this bloodstained trend until recently. Some consider Kanwal's death the first documented honor killing here. Others point to the murder of sisters Amina and Sarah Said in Irving, Texas, on New Years' 2007. (Their MySpace page remains up. Featuring assimilated teen culture and American music, it is haunting.) Their father remains on the run from police. In upstate Monroe County just a few days ago, a girl was stabbed by her brother for wearing immodest western clothing and wanting to move to New York City. According to court documents, Waheed Allah Mohammad explained the stabbing by saying his sister was a "bad Muslim girl." "Honor killing is a misnomer," author and exile Ayaan Hirsi Ali told me. "The killing occurs because these girls have allegedly brought shame on their family. The paradox is that these are individuals who have emancipated themselves.

POPSSan Francisco: Sanctuary City Gone Awry However, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Police Department "cited ’numerous documented contacts’ that officers had with Ramos and Lopez, and said both were active members of the MS-13 street gang.’" But thanks to San Francisco’s sanctuary city status, instead of being reported to federal immigration authorities and deported, Ramos was allowed continue to roam the streets of San Francisco until his arrest for the Bologna killings. Earlier this month, San Bernardino County officials threatened to sue the city of San Francisco for sending a group of Honduran, illegal immigrant, juvenile crack dealers to group homes in the city of Yucaipa without notification. Eight of them simply walked away from the unsecured group homes and only one has been recaptured. In fact, Yucaipa has seen a rise in violent crime in accordance with the influx of foreign offenders to its group homes in recent years.

POPSWomen With the horror of the recent "honor" killing in Georgia as the backdrop, I'm inspired to remind everyone that women die at the hands of male family members every day in the US. In fact, 4 times a day. I'm tired of the Right acting like they really care about women and gender equality. The only mention of women in the 2004 Republican platform is their insistence that if a woman gets pregnant, by law she'll stay that way until delivery. I went to a number of right wing websites and typed the words "violence against women" into their search engines. If any stories were listed at all, they were about honor killings in the Muslim world. The Right wrap their "concern" for women in the cloak of anti-Islamic rhetoric concerning honor killings and are dumb, deaf, and blind to all else. Enough. Islam is not the problem. Patriarchy is.
