from staunch critics of illegal immigration. Open-borders groups have sought to marginalize, criminalize, and demonize those of us who have raised our voices for years about lax immigration enforcement " and to impose an Orwellian Fairness Doctrine-style policy on illegal alien amnesty opponents. During the presidential campaign, the National Council of La Raza launched a “We Can Stop the Hate” project to redefine tough policy criticism from the Right as “hate.” Unsurprisingly, far Left billionaire George Soros’s money is backing the “So We Might See”/National Hispanic Media Coalition effort. And remember that the Soros-funded Center for American Progress has provided the Obama White House with its Fairness Doctrine-embracing “diversity czar,” Mark Lloyd. Jeffrey Lord, who happens to belong to the United Church of Christ, reported in the American Spectator that not long after that speech, the UCC sent out a mass e-mail to its millions of members urging them.......

Obama’s FCC, “Media Justice” Mob, and Liberal Churches

 * Media change of all kinds must expose and directly confront the mechanics of structural racism and systemic oppression. * Leaders from historically marginalized communities must be developed as effective media activists and strategic movement communicators. * Media policy advocacy and strategic communications are more effective when clearly relevant to the primary justice issues of the movement for racial justice, economic and gender equity, and youth rights. * Compelling communications and media activism campaigns must be both rooted in critical issues and coordinated across issue, sector, and region for national impact. * When justice sectors strengthen communications strategies, center the use of culture as a communications tool, employ winning frames and messages, and strengthen their influence over media rules and rights, the possibilities for transformative change skyrocket. “Transformative change” = a media landscape purged of the Right’s most powerful voices.

Is Barack Obama Anti-American?

And with other dreams (for example, the Second Amendment) he’s doing a fancy dance by which he tries to hide his authoritarian impulses. But it doesn’t matter. This post isn’t about what Obama will actually do. It’s about what he wants to do, what his desires are vis a vis the American people " and it’s very clear that his desire is antithetical to the American essence. He wants to limit or destroy individual liberties. Politically, too, Obama’s impulses are all antithetical to liberty. Again, some examples: He has turned against the only democratic nation in the Middle East (that would be Israel), in favor of the bloodied tyrannical theocracies on her borders. By reversing his pledge to keep a missile defense system in place in Poland and the Czech Republic, he has favored Iran’s Muslim tyranny Figuratively and literally, he bows to dictators (Saudis, Venezuelans, Russians, Iranians, Cubans). In Honduras, he sided with the delusional Zelaya against the . . .

The San Francisco Chronicle attempted to reach Savage for comment. It went about as well as you might expect: So we called Michael to ask him what's up. His response: "Why don't you call Mao Zedong? He's your boss." After we stopped laughing, we called back, noted that Mao is still dead and asked for a call back. Until we get one, we'll be reading our favorite little red book. Don't worry about Michael -- for those of you who are. Not only are his ratings strong across the country, he's already called at least one San Francisco station Thursday, presumably in search for a new home.

"This wasn't simply Valerie Jarrett rubberstamping her guy," says a White House source. But Jarrett did view Jones as a critical member of the administration for her outreach efforts, in part, because he was so well known and respected in the radical-left world Playing to those types is another reason Jarrett's office approved the invitation of Jameel Jaffer, who runs the ACLU's "national security project," to the White House Ramadan dinner last week. Jaffer, a Canadian citizen, attended the dinner, which President Obama said was being held for American Muslims. Jaffer is a cause célèbre to the far left for his career of litigating against

New Democrat Town Hall Strategy: Have Constituents Arrested

Now Why Would a “Diversity Czar” Worry Anyone?

Naturally, these strategies all come complete with the usual, harmless-sounding calls for “diversity” and “community.” Seton Motley, of the conservative Media Research Center, said Lloyd “laid out a battle plan” in a 2007 report for the George Soros-funded progressive think tank, Center for American Progress. According to Motley, Lloyd wanted “the FCC to threaten stations’ licenses with whom they do not agree with politically, and now he’s at the FCC waiting to take their calls. This is not about serving the local interest, it’s about political opposition.” Like I said, start worrying! And get ready to fight! Small Banks Fail in Big Numbers

Closures and government takeovers of failing banks have become so routine that they barely gets noticed each Friday when the FDIC makes its announcements. While the banking crisis began with escalating defaults and foreclosures on home mortgages, the increase of bank failures in recent weeks has been driven by rising losses on commercial real estate loans, which are starting to default in large numbers. Community and regional banks hold a disproportionate share of commercial real estate and construction loans. My sister-in-law works at a local bank and says they are only accepting signature loan applications, fixed 5-yr home loans, and no car loans. My brother-in-law sells commercial real estate and every loan he has setup this year has been denied. My wife works for a car dealer who is losing his lines of credit after years of pristine credit. Our home value lost $50,000 and our property taxes went up $500. How the middle class is going to survive this mess is anyone

Of course, the specter of the Fairness Doctrine being passed by Congress is also another card in the deck meant to chill criticism of Barack Obama and his fellow travelers. Now comes a more insidious form of thought control a la 1984 Cass Sunstein, a Harvard Law professor who has been appointed to a shadowy post that will grant him powers that are merely mind-boggling, explicitly supports using the courts to impose a "chilling effect" on speech that might hurt someone's feelings. He thinks that the bloggers have been rampaging out of control and that new laws need to be written to corral them. Advance copies of Sunstein's new book, "On Rumors: How Falsehoods Spread, Why We Believe Them, What Can Be Done," have gone out to reviewers ahead of its September . . .

Healthcare 'Special' ABC Refuses Paid Ads That Oppose Obamacare
merrie
by merrie  6-18-2009
It is unfortunate--and unusual--that ABC is refusing to accept paid advertising that would present an alternative viewpoint for the White House health care event. Health care is an issue that touches every American and all potential pieces of legislation have carried a price tag in excess of $1 trillion of taxpayers' money. The American people deserve a healthy, robust debate on this issue and ABC's decision--as of now--to exclude even paid advertisements that present an alternative view does a disservice to the public. Our organization is more than willing to purchase ad time on ABC to present an alternative viewpoint and our hope is that ABC will reconsider having such viewpoints be part of this crucial debate for the American people. We were surprised to hear that paid advertisements would not be accepted when we inquired and we would certainly be open to purchasing time if ABC would reconsider.

The scatterbrained thought processes that led to this embarrassing abomination are illuminating because they provide proof to the assertion, which I have made myself, that there will be attacks against conservative talk radio, despite President Obama's statement that he does not support a return to the so-called Fairness Doctrine. (Remember his promise, err, lie, about campaign funding?) Actually, the president is disingenuous because he knows the attack will be subtle, and my point is proven by the dim-witted Toledo Bladeless Blunder editorial board brain trust that has been sipping the liberal mainstream tonic a bit too much. The editorial's first three graphs prove my point. What star-crossed geniuses they have at The Toledo Bladeless Blunder, which lacks intellectual honesty and clarity concerning talk-radio's his

Only a dictatorial wanna-be could propose something like this, but the problem is that Washington is filled with such power-hungry simpletons. I have a few questions for our Hugo Chavez: Who will determine what is "in the public interest" and what "community needs and opinions" are? How will the FCC prevent "community advisory boards" from becoming de facto station managers since their reports, and the FCC summaries that will follow, could result in losing a license? I'll give you a specific example: On a national Christian radio station several years ago, I was taken to task by a Christian host, even though my newspaper and name were not mentioned; however, if memory serves me correctly, this host said something like "a newspaper in Eureka in Northern California" was allowing a Muslim (horror of horrors) to publish a column. Welcome To The 'Censorship Doctrine' And Advisory Boards, My Fellow Comrade
GlennFrancoSimmons
by GlennFrancoSimmons  2-18-2009
Censorship proponents proudly pontificate their "tolerance" and pledge they “only” want “both” sides heard, yet they cannot hide their Goebbelesque subterfuge from me. In convincing tones, they mock our innate B.S. detectors by telling us they only want balance, but their true objective is to get as many conservative talk-show hosts off the air as possible. Want proof? If radio stations are forced by the government to halve their conservative offerings, then that means some conservative commentators will lose affiliates carrying their radio shows, thereby causing a reshuffling in which some hosts will be dropped. This would result in the diluted message of what censorship proponents call "opposition media." So much for tolerance. Censorship storm troopers show their views are more akin to Karl Marx's than to the Founding Fathers' because most self-described liberal talk-show hosts and stations have failed because they are not economically viable. Democrats Sneak Net Neutrality Rules Into 'Stimulus' Bill

last year that they could "inefficiently skew investment, delay innovation, and diminish consumer welfare, and there is reason to believe that the kinds of broad marketplace restrictions proposed in the name of 'neutrality' would do just that, with respect to the Internet." A report from the Federal Trade Commission reached the same conclusion in 2007. As recently as one day ago, a Democratic Senate aide was saying the topic would be addressed in the Judiciary Committee in the near future; there seems little reason to rush to lard up this particular legislation. But it always seems to happen. Last fall's TARP bailout bill included IRS snooping. A port security bill included Internet gambling restrictions; the Real ID Act was glued onto a military spending and tsunami relief bill; a library filtering law was attached to a destined-to-be-enacted bill funding Congress itself. It's enough to make you want to force our elected representatives to actually read the bills they pass.

Obama's so-called "stimulus" plan hand out billions to reward liberals, including community organizers like ACORN (the equivalent of Venezuela's neighborhood enforcers). That was matched with calls for the Fairness Doctrine to shut down political opposition and moves for greater state control of the banking and automotive sectors. Last, but not least, are Dem efforts to corrupt the census and make Republicans a permanent minority. Reward for Socialist "Democracy?" Food Shortages! And just what has been the reward to the Venezuelan people for all that "democracy" Obama's State Dept. praised? Shortages of everyday staples like milk, eggs, sugar and cooking oil. Shortages we may add, brought about by socialist policies whose stated goal was to protect the poor from price gouging. Much better to starve than pay another bolivar so the kids can have milk.

Fairness doctrine on the internet?

Seems liberals in congress aren't happy with just silencing conservatives on the radio. They want to spread it to the internet as well. Seems to me they were speaking specifically of Drudge, but I'm sure he wouldn't be alone. There is also some concern among religious radio programs on how the 'fairness' would be spread to them. The scariest part is that it doesn't look like they will even give this a chance to be debated at all. They look to be bypassing congress altogether and just installing their new doctrine through the FCC. I'm sure the far left clippers here will applaud this new move as they don't believe free conservative speech is something to be tolerated.
