Here's what WON'T happen in 2010
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  1-2-2010    3
Obama will stop blaming George W. Bush for his failures. Liberals will stop blaming George W. Bush for him failing to get them a date on eHarmony.com. After admitting that human behavior might not be causing global warming, Al Gore will get a real job. California will become a national model for state budgeting. The New Jersey Nets will waltz their way to an NBA championship. General Motors will become the world's most profitable carmaker. Despite Democrats' massive spending, taxes in America will fall. Huge new taxes to pay for ObamaCare will spur investors to pour billions into new businesses, igniting a wild economic boom overnight. Obama, America's first postpartisan president, will actually include Republican ideas in his agenda. The mainstream media will treat Sarah Palin fairly. and pundits will finally stop making stupid predictions.

Monopoly Capitalism Is the Root of All of America's Problems
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  12-31-2009    4
The indoctrination is that we live in a market economy that determines globalization and everything else. I don’t know why this generation of Americans was more gullible. I can’t understand that. But it’s just a fact and we need to wake up. This systemic risk is a result of monopolists preaching efficiency because they want to take cash out of the system. For example, let’s say they have two machines, and sell one. They get money for the machine they sell, and then the one left over will be more expensive to use so they can charge more for its use. They pocket the money from the machine they sell and get more money off the one machine they have left. The problem, though, is they only have one machine left. If something goes wrong, we can have huge systemic failures. Treasury to dole out USD 3.8 billion more for GMAC

BREAKING: US Intel Had Info Ahead of Airliner Attack
merrie
by merrie  12-30-2009    2
"The warning signs would have triggered red flags, and the suspect would have never been allowed to board that plane for America." Officials said Obama chose to make a second statement in as many days because a morning briefing offered him new information in the government's possession about the suspect's activities and thinking, along with al-Qaida's plans. Obama's statement showed more fire than he had shown previously about the lapses that allowed the bombing attack to take place and came after his homeland security secretary, Janet Napolitano, had to backtrack on an assertion that "the system worked" in the Detroit airliner scare. Some have criticized Obama for not addressing the issue publicly sooner. An angered Obama called the shortcomings "totally unacceptable" and told reporters traveling with him on vacation here that he wanted a preliminary report by Thursday on what went wrong on Christmas Day, when the suspect carried explosives onto a flight from Amsterdam

In both incidents, the failure of the bombings was not due to security measures at the originating European airports. The bombs were not picked up by metal detectors at Charles de Gaulle in Paris in 2001, or at Schiphol, Amsterdam in 2009, and the men carrying them evidently had no difficulty getting onto their flights.

Are We Better Off Without Religion?
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  12-23-2009
More from the article below: "For this reason Paul carries out his analysis both with and without the US included, but either way the same correlations turn up. The 1st world nations with the highest levels of belief in God, and the greatest religious observance are also the ones with all the signs of societal dysfunction. These correlations are truly stunning. They are not barely significant or marginal in any way. Many, such as those between popular religiosity and teenage abortions and STDs have correlation coefficients over 0.9 and the overall correlation with the SSS is 0.7 with the US included and 0.5 without. These are powerful relationships. But why? The critical step from correlation to cause is not easy. Paul analyses all sorts of possibilities. Immigration and diversity do not explain the relationships, nor do a country's frontier past, nor its violent media,..."

Vintage Moonbattery: Copenhagen's A Battle To Humble And "Redefine Humanity"

So this isn't the place for rationality. It's the place to reverse the Industrial Revolution. You do have to read this entire self-caricature, though, because there's just so much I couldn't include. There's an entire section on how the people who disagree with him - the bullies who call him bad names - are angry because he's just too decent. Then there was a part about how we have to reign in "adventurers," which a cynical person might read as a pointed version of banal Blue State nannyism.  "The dominant issues today are the economy and jobs, and the public doesn't see either party making these a real priority. Further, polls show trust in government handling of domestic issues remains at historic lows. What most voters hear from Washington these days is squabbling over health reform involving a government role they don't trust and don't want."

Huckabee Releases Statement, Judge Thomas J. Felnagle Set Bail For Maurice Clemmons

I’ve been monitoring the SPD police scanner throughout the day. There have been many dead ends. Chatter and action is picking up after a call this afternoon from a citizen who reportedly discovered bloody gauze and an abandoned vehicle. Officers are headed to the scene. Scanner chatter reports that someone also spotted a black male on foot and bleeding. More as it comes in. Tacoma News Tribune’s crime blog is monitoring. http://bit.ly/6FHG1H Seattle Times reports that police are also seeking Clemmons’ wife and car. They believe she may be headed to…Arkansas Authorities remained on edge all day. At one point, Troyer, who was carrying an assault rifle, told members of the media, “this is kind of a hot area, so you’re kind of on your own.” Heavily armed police on Sunday surrounded the Tacoma home of Clemmons’ wife, not far from the shooting scene. It didn’t appear anyone was home. Later Sunday night they served a search warrant at the home.

Saudi Columnist: Obama Will Be President of the 'United Collapse of America'
merrie

so much so that it looks to the observer like a car with no brakes going . "If the U.S. sneezes, the entire world catches a cold. Its political collapse in its war on terror, together with its economic collapse, have made the entire world sink into a political and economic quagmire. No one knows how our star will emerge from the maelstrom. "The failures of the U.S. in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Somalia will have an impact on the countries that are fighting terrorism and extremism. These countries must prepare for the stage that follows these collapses and retreats - because there is no critical American/Western victory on the horizon in the fight against . "Obama fought tooth and nail to be the first black president of the U.S., and he was successful at it. But in the future he may also gain the title of 'President of the United Collapse of America.'" http://bit.ly/74hila

Well...there ya' go. While I would not agree that Abbas is an ally of the US I can understand why he would consider his efforts for the Palestinian cause null & void. FTA: "Its political collapse in its war on terror, together with its economic collapse, have made the entire world sink into a political and economic quagmire." There. That's how the rest of the world perceives us and perception is reality. Hello!? Can we 'change' this and is there any 'hope'? This Administration has brought about our complete collapse in a matter of months!!! Those who deny it are willfully blind or partners.

"Drug War" Does More Harm Than Marijuana
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  11-16-2009    2
Another essay from J.H.. More below: " and so are today's leaders (from the White House to nearly all local governments), who are keeping us mired in the longest, most costly, and most futile war in U.S. history: the drug war. As one adamant opponent of this ongoing madness put it, "I cannot help but wonder how many more lives, and how much more money, will be wasted before another Robert McNamara admits what is plain for all to see: the War on Drugs is a failure. Americans are paying too high a price in lives and liberty for a failing War on Drugs, about which our leaders have lost all sense of proportion." That was no ex-hippie stoner expressing himself through a haze of herbal smoke. It was America's "Uncle Walter," the journalistic icon Walter Cronkite, calling earlier this year for a new truthfulness and sanity in American drug policy.

One telling similarity between the the Wehrmacht and the US Military
drummond1999
by drummond1999  11-14-2009
A very interesting insight into the how effective the US military is at doing the wrong thing, as Fabius Maximus says "From a larger perspective this article shows how the 21st century US military is locked into a historically common trap. No matter how good, it remains harnessed to US elites’ geopolitical thinking " poorly reasoned, emotional (ruled by hubris and fear). Our military apparatus consistently provides professional, smooth execution of bad strategy. We do the wrong thing, but brilliantly." Some clips below but follow the links for the full article.

The US House of Presumptive Meddlers
ColoradoRight
by ColoradoRight  11-12-2009
Advocates of government control want you to believe that the serious shortcomings of our medical and insurance system are failures of the free market. But that's impossible because our market is not free. Each state operates a cozy medical and insurance cartel that restricts competition through licensing and keeps prices higher than they would be in a genuine free market. But the planners won't talk about that. After all, if government is the problem in the first place, how can they justify a government takeover?
