More Ghost Malls The Morning News has a remarkable photo gallery of deserted malls and big-box stores. Most of the pictures are from 2008 and 2009. In the accompanying interview the photographer, Brian Ulrich, explains how he finds these locations and what he thinks should be done with them: I personally would like to see many of the spaces simply be turned back into fields, woods, and natural landscape, rather than trying to discover some profound solution. Of course, there are lots of other ideas for what to do with deserted malls. http://www.good.is/post/More-Ghost-Malls/

Implicit: Discovering Your Unconscious Bias
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  12-11-2009
This site presents some amazing tests that help you explore your hidden beliefs. More from the site below: "Project Implicit blends basic research and educational outreach in a virtual laboratory at which visitors can examine their own hidden biases. Project Implicit is the product of research by three scientists whose work produced a new approach to understanding of attitudes, biases, and stereotypes. The Project Implicit site (implicit.harvard.edu) has been functioning as a hands-on science museum exhibit, allowing web visitors to experience the manner in which human minds display the effects of stereotypic and prejudicial associations acquired from their socio-cultural environment."

Expo-3 International also believes that it's not enough to design a dynamic exhibit. More importantly, it is our charge to create an environment for a product or service with the sole purpose of producing end results. A showcase exhibit, comprehensively designed and skillfully crafted by Expo-3 International, can be an extremely wise and profitable investment.

PETA is encouraging the zoo to keep developing the animatronic animals, but listen PETA, hear me out. Sure, you’re trying to keep animals out of captivity. You’re also promoting the creation of an advanced, highly mobile robot bear army. I encourage you to rethink your position.

How To End Cat Behavioral Problems
MeliMF68
by MeliMF68  11-25-2009
http://catbehaviorproblems.info - Sometimes cats exhibit cat behavior problems because they are having some kind of physical problem. You can use cat behavior problems as a barometer for your cat's health; if it begins to act in an odd way there's a good chance that something might be wrong.

In defense of jaywalking
Lexica
by Lexica  11-6-2009    1
More: today the word jaywalking is often used as a sort of blanket justification for the dominating presence of cars on city streets. It also reflects a social bias against those people not in cars. (Note this comment in a Federal Highway Administration report: "Still, almost no one can avoid occasional pedestrian status," as if they were discussing exposure to a venereal disease.) …the Netherlands, which has essentially legalized jaywalking, has an enviable pedestrian safety record. …Finally, read newspapers very carefully. A number of studies have documented that media coverage of traffic crashes is selective, framed in certain predictable ways, and often misrepresents the true frequency or nature of actual risk. Jaywalking makes better copy for columnists than actually probing the complex nature of traffic safety.
