Vedanthangal - oldest bird sanctuary in India
hitchhiker08
by hitchhiker08  5-9-2008
Best of all, villagers close to the sanctuary enjoy a symbiotic relationship with the migratory birds. Some have been quoted as saying they don't want any factories to ever come up in the area, as this will scare away the birds - like the birds go out in search of food, so they too (villagers) will go looking for work elsewhere! Their forefathers also helped identify poachers and had the British issue banning orders!

(continued) in some states, these were not recorded (or whether to count Florida and Michigan:) http://www.redstate.com/stories/elections/2008/obamomentum_revisited Here's the remaining schedule, with a chart showing the most recent poll I could find - I used Rasmussen for West Virginia, Kentucky and Oregon, a mid-April Dakota Wesleyan poll for South Dakota, a mid-April Puerto Rico poll, and, lacking a head-to-head poll, I used Rasmussen's general election numbers for Montana, which show Obama polling much better, but with basically similar numbers to the South Dakota poll (but note that unlike earlier Obama mountain-state victories these are primaries, not caucuses).

Burma Cyclone--Weather Warfare for "Regime Change"?
blueridge
by blueridge  5-7-2008    8
This could be a case of Weather Warfare for "regime change". Follow the comments here. It took five days to count from 1,000 to 100,000? This is similar to the Indonesian Tsunami where the death count was suppressed until days later, and then the move for military and UN posturing and pushing began. Also interesting, similar to Indonesia as well, is that there is foreign criticism of the government in the press during the aftermath, and here we see the UN pushing to force their way in "to help" (i.e. invade) WITHOUT approval of the sovereign country, invoking their hypocritical "responsibility to protect" self-proclaimed law to intervene and interfere as if no country can be responsible for themselves without World Government seeking to intrude. The UN has a "responsibility" to butt out unless they are invited. All this makes this event highly suspicious. See "weather warfare"

Olbermann Catches Hillary/Obama in Neocon Talk for New Middle East
blueridge
by blueridge  4-19-2008    1
They both shilled for neocon propaganda, contrary to the most recent National Intel Estimate which says that Iran has been deterred on nukes, and Hillary proposed a middle east "umbrella" (read NATO-like alliance) for military intervention, very similar to McCain's. There is no real choice, in foreign policy, or big spending, in the 3 candidates. WARS will continue, and here is the evidence. Both shill for Israel blatantly. (Hillary: 'Oh Israeli Lobby--please let me be President, listen to my hawkish war speak on defense of Israel and against Iran, despite the lack of evidence!')

ENVIRONMENTAL INJUSTICE IN CHINA by Deanna “Dee” Taylor
papananook
by papananook  4-19-2008
China’s environment is deteriorating on all fronts: air, land and water and is negatively affecting biodiversity and the health and quality of life for individuals. The statistics on air pollution, loss of farmland, toxic waters, and biodiversity are alarming. The Chinese government’s lack of sustainable water management policies has contributed to water pollution that significantly harms public health, water shortage and contamination, and loss of community livelihood and local income.

WAR IS OVER
sahara
by sahara  4-17-2008
CONTINUED: For American politicians to suppose that without us it would thrive and grow in Iraq is just proof of their ignorance. Our presence in Iraq is the only thing that made al-Qaeda viable. Our occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan are the principal selling points in al-Qaeda propaganda. Whatever someone imagines we gain by staying in Iraq and Afghanistan is far outweighed by what we are losing. We are losing lives in dribs and drabs, and we are losing treasure at an alarming rate. We have severe internal problems that our military presence in the Middle East aggravates. Our military is on the verge of being broken. Some Nobel laureates estimate the war will end up costing us $3 trillion. Well, plain and simple, we can't afford it. If we don't change direction in this country, we're going to end up impoverished and bankrupt, and you know what? Iraq and Afghanistan will still be the messes they are today.

World's New Crisis: Soaring Food Prices
merrie
by merrie  4-15-2008    2
"Frankly speaking, that G8 meeting is in June and we cannot wait," Mr Zoellick said, after meeting the IMF and the World Bank's Development Committee. "We estimate that a doubling of food prices over the last three years could potentially push 100 million people in low-income countries deeper into poverty." The World Bank has warned that food prices will remain elevated this year and will probably stay above 2004 levels until 2015. "We estimate that the effect of this food crisis on poverty reduction worldwide is in the order of seven lost years," Mr Zoellick said. He said that almost half of $500 million that the World Food Program recently requested in additional pledges for food aid had been committed, but the May 1 deadline for raising the money would not be met. The parliamentary secretary for international development assistance, Bob McMullan, said yesterday Australia was one of the largest donors through the World Food Program, giving $61.7 million last year.

Obama leading Hillary by 1 to 2 million votes.
BobbyRutan
by BobbyRutan  4-11-2008    1
Therefore, in Kansas, Barack Obama gained 543,440 votes to Hillary Clinton's 189,240 votes. This is a far wider margin of victory than Clinton supporters would like to admit, but decidedly more accurate. Let's just say, for arguments sake, that we're overestimating how many people a county delegate represents. Let's call it 10 rather than 20. Then the tally becomes 271,720 votes for Obama, and 94,620 for Clinton. A substantial victory. And that is the absolute bottom lowest average estimate 13 caucus states so far in the Primary and Clinton has only won one of them. Obama defeated her in Iowa, Alaska, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Colorado, North Dakota, Nebraska, Washington, Maine, Hawaii and Wyoming. The tally of county delegates for these states, has Obama at 366,764 and Clinton at 156,563. Multiply these numbers by 10, it puts Obama at 3,667,640 and Clinton at 1,565,630, a margin of 2 million votes. Applied to the final tally, it puts Obama ahead of Clinton by 2,300,000 vo
