POPSA long, melancholy roar Of our ancient enemies, microbes are now the most fearsome.HIV/AIDS chalked up 2 million deaths across the planet in 2007 alone; tuberculosis was close behind, with more than 1,700,000.The year before, malaria escorted almost a million people to their graves. We should be far more scared of mosquitoes than we are of bears; but we’re not. More recently, however, it’s been the case that the mammal most likely to kill a human is: a human. Murder and war have long been more important causes of death for us than predatory wild animals. But here’s the thing. Today, in many parts of the world, the human being most likely to cause your violent death is: you. Yes. You are the person most likely to kill yourself violently and on purpose. Suicide rates have risen dramatically over the past 50 years.

POPSOpen-door morgue leaves bodies up for grabs more: ''It's been going on for years and it's appalling, but the health department told us not to complain to the hospital because they could make things worse for us,'' Mr Stewart said. At other hospitals, undertakers were required to submit detailed paperwork at the medical records office before being escorted to the mortuary by a porter and monitored by a morgue attendant while they removed the body.

POPSWould the U.S. Government lie to U.S. Citizens? 1967 attack on U.S.S. Liberty by Israel
The attack began on the fourth day of the war. The Liberty was about 17 miles from the coast. Almost without warning, Israeli fighter jets tore into the ship with rockets, cannons and napalm. Shells smashed portholes, ripped gashes in sealed metal doors For those too young to remember, the Liberty was collecting intelligence off the Gaza Strip during the Six-Day War in June 1967. after reading this comprehensive and compelling account, it is hard to avoid the conclusion that Israel's actions were, at a minimum, criminally negligent -- and harder still to understand why no one in Israel was punished. McCain understood that a "report critical of Israel would trigger diplomatic ramifications and create domestic political trouble for the beleaguered White House, which now wanted to deemphasize the attack." As a consequence, McCain barred his staff from traveling to Israel and allowed only a week to complete the probe, "less time than it took to bury some of the dead."

POPSThe Obama Show The use of planted questioners is a no-no at presidential news conferences, because it sends a message to the world -- Iran included -- that the American press isn't as free as advertised. He already has every press person in DC kissing his butt and he still has to stage questions.

POPSA 'Classified' Photo Op Turns Into a Soaring Blunder.... How dumb. Can you have a "secret", "classified" maneuver of F-16s & a 747 flying at app. 1000 ft. around the Statue of Liberty in broad daylight? So now that everyone knows about it, why is the one over D.C. cancelled for May? And how much did this operation cost just to update their photo files?

POPSCruise Ship Fends Off Pirate Attack With Gunfire Six men in a small, white Zodiac-type boat approached the Msc Melody at about 1730 GMT Saturday and opened fire with automatic weapons, Msc Cruises director Domenico Pellegrino said. They retreated after the security officers returned fire and sprayed them with water hoses. The ship continued its journey with its windows darkened. But Saturday's exchange of fire between the Melody and pirates was one of the first reported between pirates and a nonmilitary ship. Civilian shipping and passenger ships have generally avoided arming crewmen or hiring armed security for reasons of safety, liability and compliance with the rules of the different countries where they dock. Pellegrino said the pistols on board the Melody were available to the commander and security agents. He said they were used as a deterrent, "in an emergency operation."
