Fleetwood MP votes to wallow in the trough
notareargunner
by notareargunner  7-4-2008
Joan Humble, conspicuous by her absence from many crucial debates mainly the Defence Procurement Debate, has put both her feet in the gravy train trough. When a high percentage of Fleetwood's elderly are struggling to make ends meet, Ms Humble will be buying TV's and other such luxuries - at the pensioner's expense. I know Fleetwood has a history of social equity, but the good people of Fleetwood are usually not so stupid as to select a representative who shows little appreciation of the plight of the poor in her constituency. If you did not know your MP before, you certainly know her now.

Potential Article title: The Land-Pain Threshold... At a point in time where individuals are screaming that there is no debt available for land... and their is exesss equity on the sidelines, there has to be a threshold by which we tend to decide to jump back in... We can look at the "Misery" index... and correlate that index with the cost of land... and the index of homebuilders... and get to a number that is overly complicated... bottom line. Find the deals

Obama's "Equal Pay" For Women [Not So Much]
merrie
by merrie  6-30-2008
The average pay for the 33 men on Obama's staff (who earned more than $23,000, the lowest annual salary paid for non-intern employees) was $59,207. The average pay for the 31 women on Obama's staff who earned more than $23,000 per year was $48,729.91. (The average pay for all 36 male employees on Obama's staff was $55,962; and the average pay for all 31 female employees was $48,729. The report indicated that Obama had only one paid intern during the period, who was a male.)

Obscene Military Budget is much biger than Reported Legally
papananook
by papananook  6-29-2008
see the article for the cuts behind the figures here: Now, imagine that, due to a little more Pentagon/Bush administration wizardry, even this black budget estimate is undoubtedly a low-ball figure. One reason is simple enough: The proposed $541 billion Pentagon 2009 budget doesn't even include money for actual wars. George W. Bush's wars are all paid for by "supplemental" bills like the $162 billion one Congress will soon pass -- so the Department of Defense's $34 billion black budget skips "war-related funding." This means that even the overall figure for that budget remains darker than we might imagine (as in "black hole"). The Pentagon not only produces stealth planes, it is, in budgetary terms, a stealth operation. If honestly accounted, the actual Pentagon yearly budget, including all the "military-related" funds salted away elsewhere, is probably now more than $1 trillion a year.

A third of all US aid goes to Israel more than to any other nation.
rustajb
by rustajb  6-23-2008    1
Our tax dollars in action, being shipped over seas to help a foreign country that needs less aid than countries like Africa. 10-15 million dollars a day to Israel! And don't you dare question it citizen or we'll brandish you anti-Semitic. Which begs the question, what other countries/races get their own term for begrudging them? If you talk disparagingly about Jews you are anti-Semitic. What are you if you talk bad about the Danes, or the Australians, or Asians? Ponder how odd it is to cherry-pick which races get terms like this and what power that carries and to whose benefit.

Social networking gone wild?
Maureen Farrell
by Maureen Farrell  6-19-2008    1
Is their irrational exuberance in the social networking world these days? A billion dollar price tag for the less technologically savvy site Linked In could hint at such a bubble. Yes it generates revenues already unlike many companies during the dot come heyday. On the flipside, times are ripe for innovative social networking sites built by entrepreneurs, as long as you can attract a following - which is getting harder and harder in the crowded social networking world.

IVA settlement, which was introduced in 1986, is a legally binding agreement between you and your creditors. It gives you the opportunity to determine a portion of the debt by paying a lump sum amount. The amount can be from the relative or remortgaging your advantage. An equity release scheme is possible for retired people. Creditor also agree to this if it can be shown to them that it is better than to declare bankruptcy.

Oil Trophy, Abu Dhabi To Buy The Chrysler Building
merrie
by merrie  6-12-2008
Boston Properties closed on its purchase of the GM Building on Monday with investment partners Kuwait and Qatar, and will complete the purchase of three other former Macklowe properties over the next few months. Developer Harry Macklowe was forced to sell the assets after taking a personal loan on the GM Building and other family assets to raise nearly $7 billion to buy a city package of former Equity Office buildings. The credit markets tanked right after completing that deal in July and Macklowe was unable to refinance the short-term debt causing him to sell the four buildings to Boston Properties and return the Equity portfolio to lender Deutsche Bank.
