For a short duration, SA took first spot but that was nothing to do with their own performance but due to Australia's defeat in recent tri-series against England. Australia is way ahead of other teams in the world. SA's charge to number 1 spot was because of some number games that ICC has. The same thing applies to Ricky ponting as a batsman. How can Kevin Peterson beat Ponting to become number 1. Ricky is the greatest match winner I have seen for many years now. He is the best.

POPSPonting furious on Gavaskar's remarks Ponting reminded India of its performance in recent past and more than that Gavaskar's game and his one off incident of "mis-behavior" on the field. Not only this but much more. Well Ricky is one of my favorite players but here I would disagree with him and probably take a strong exception of what he said for Team India and Gavaskar.
