POPSCraving terrorist melodrama As for Armao's "point" about how Janet Napolitano probably took it easy because the "boss was away" -- and her belief that Terrorists will strike more on holidays if Obama isn't affixed to his chair in the Oval Office, as though he's the Supreme Airport Screener: those are so self-evidently dumb it's hard to believe they found their way even into something written by one of Fred Hiatt's editorial writers. What this actually illustrates is that many people are addicted to the excitement and fear of Terrorist melodramas. They crave some of that awesome 9/12 energy, where we overnight became The Greatest Generation and -- unified and resolute -- rose to the challenge of a Towering, Evil Enemy. Armao is angry and upset because the leader didn't oblige her need to re-create that high drama by flamboyantly flying back to Washington to create a tense storyline, pick up a bullhorn, stand on some rubble, and personally make her feel "safe."

POPSIt's Not Socialism, It's Communism ..... We know that he was greatly influenced by Marxists or people who viewed Communism sympathetically, not the least of which were his grandparents who introduced him to a mentor , Frank Marshall Davis, a member of the Communist Party USA. The recent United Nations' Climate Change Conference refused to take notice of the revelations that the data on which the "global warming" theory is based was falsified by a handful of meteorologists and climatologists in an effort to impose a global governing system. The interim first Secretary General of the UN was Alger Hiss, an American and secret Soviet agent. Virtually the entire agenda of American environmental organizations has been focused on an attack on private property rights and denying Americans access to their vast reserves of energy in the form of coal, oil, and natural gas, thus undermining U.S. growth and prosperity.

POPSCheap Natural Gas and Its Enemies
But why would the politically active Sandlers suddenly enter the media world? Perhaps it's because they realize the political and financial benefits that can flow from influencing the news. We may be seeing a sample of this type of handiwork now. Among the first "exposés" Pro Publica undertook was an attack on energy companies for developing the Marcellus Shale, a vast natural gas reservoir stretching across several states. The "exposé" focused on putative environmental effects that might result from tapping these reserves. The technology used to unleash this natural gas from the shale in which it is trapped is called "fracking." Energy companies inject water, sand, and drilling fluids into the rock to "crack" it and release the natural gas. The potential for this technology is huge: America is a vast storehouse of this type of gas. Much of this is located not just in the Marcellus formation, but throughout the Rocky Mountain states. Also, the Barnett Shale region of Texas

POPS HAS ANYONE SEEN PHIL JONES???" Polar Bear Goes Hunting for Climate-Gate Scientist at Copenhagen Summit
It was Jones who, in an e-mail to a colleague, wrote of using a "trick" to "hide the decline" of data indicating global warming from the 1980s and onward. That e-mail and thousands of others were posted online in November, and have since been taken as evidence by skeptics to claim global warming is a scam. One of those skeptics was the man behind the bear suit: Phelim McAleer, a journalist and filmmaker who last year produced "Not Evil Just Wrong," which disputes many of the assertions made in former Vice President Al Gore's documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth." McAleer, a persistent critic of Gore's film, frequently attends public events and venues to question and discuss the Nobel Prize-winner's position on environmental issues. McAleer has now turned his sights on Jones and the Climate-Gate scandal. Jones and others have come under intense fire since the hacked e-mails became public. Other climate researchers were revealed to have blackballed dissenting scientists .....

POPSPrisons Taking Work From Private Sector: Current Employees Laid Off
at an Otisville, N.Y. prison are continuing their jobs: producing solar panels The insanity continues: “green jobs” are turning into “orange jumpsuit” jobs. Unfortunately, most Americans remain unaware of the Federal Prison Industries’ (FPI) exploits. FPI employs cheap prison labor " compensating inmates at wages of between 23 cents and $1.15 an hour " to assemble products purchased by federal agencies under a mandatory source arrangement. Mandatory source status means if a federal agency needs to purchase a product offered by FPI, the agency must buy it from FPI, even if the price is higher, the quality lower or the delivery longer than that of commercial products FPI has used its competitive advantage for years to expand its business into such industries as furniture, vehicular components and textiles. Just recently we learned Traverse Bay Manufacturing Inc. a family-owned textile products business in northern Michigan, also is losing business to federal prisoners

POPSPolice Cars by The Thousands Make Way to Officers' Memorial
The widow of a fallen Federal Way officer wanted everyone to know that the show of support has a profound impact on those inside those passing cars. "To know those people are there for you and to be in the front car is an experience that you just can't describe," said Renee Maher, whose husband Patrick was a Federal Way police officer shot and killed in the line of duty in 2003. "The energy is amazing and, people describe this as being mind-numbing, for me it was just the opposite. It was overwhelming because there was so many people there that were to honor Patrick, and I remember thinking, 'How can I thank them all for being here?' " As many as 20,000 people are expected to pack the Tacoma Dome for the 1 p.m. service. In addition to eulogies from family, friends and public officials, mourners will watch a video tribute to the officers who were killed by a lone gunman as they sat at a coffee shop before the start of their shift.

POPSThe Obama Recovery In Full Effect: Deficits Running 25% Higher Than Highest Estimates If the deficits continue to overshoot prior estimates, which they almost certainly will, the country is headed for total, hyper-inflationary meltdown: China and Japan will simply cease buying debt that can't be repaid. Oh, and recall that these totals don't even include state and local governments -- like the Blue State Utopias of California, Michigan, New York and New Jersey -- that are hemorrhaging revenues and residents as fast as they can pack their belongings, stuff them in U-Hauls and clear out for greener pastures. That deficit represents a 25% overshoot. Congratulations, Mr. President: your strategy is working. Hat tip: Denninger

POPS And Yet It Cools ..... to where the scientific orthodoxy is running Star Chambers, branding rivals as heretics, trying like Urban VIII to put a thumb on publishing scales, and basically sticking its head in the sand. No little irony, BTW, that the other big news in orthodoxy debunkment yesterday was that Galileo’s fingers had been located and will go on display. Unclear whether those digits are the ones he flipped at the pope, though without doubt among those the pope twisted. Yeah, I can believe it. They’re all only human after all. The problem now, which Galileo would entirely get, is how to get not only the establishment scientists but the pols to catch up with the science. Quick, before they re-engineer our economy back into the middle ages with that bizarre scheme of double-reverse robber baronry they’re working on. forward movement ...
