Still Afraid Of Russia? Then Support A U.S. Free From Oil Dependency
ericgyoung
by ericgyoung  11-3-2009
I came across this interesting graphic this morning, which visually compares the economies of Russia and the U.S. across 25 categories. In the vast majority of these categories, the U.S., despite economic turmoil, remains a comparative "powerhouse" to Russia. But, take note of a couple of areas in which the U.S. is weakest - oil and natural gas reserves. The "powers that be" know we are weak in these categories vis-a-vis Russia. Ironically, it is often those same "powers that be" that so fervently resist U.S. energy independence. Things that make you go hmmm...

Michelle Obama to get massive liposuction to reduce her ass size!

Others mentioned that the real reason was the cost of retro-fitting 75 toilets in the White House to accommodate her large ass, as it would would cost taxpayers $10 million dollars! Ben Caudwelt, a spokesman for the President's environmental issues committee, re-assured green-minded supporters that all the fat that was to be removed from Obama's ass would be re-cycled into clean burning bio-diesel fuel and would be enough fuel to give the State of Illinois energy independence for almost a year! Al Gore issued his own statement in support of the Obama camp's 'green' effort and promised to talk to his wife Tipper about her helping Tennessee become as energy independent. The United Truckers Union has promised to have all union trucks using the special fuel display the signage....Ass For Gas! Proudly Powered by Michelle Obama!

long-term care and insurance premiums. Men and Women in Uniform We must support the men and women who protect our nation. That means giving them the tools and equipment they need, as well as the benefits and moral support they have earned. I support tax benefits to help ease the financial burdens our citizen-warriors and their families face and updated, improved GI Bill education benefits. And we must also support our first responders, who put their lives on the line to protect us in our homes, businesses, and communities. I was proud to have the MN Police and Peace Officers Association endorse my TRACK Sex Offenders Act, which gives law enforcement and officers the tools they need to keep us safe from sexual predators.

THIS should be among the top 2 issues that Washington is addressing! How many of our economic problems could be solved just by going full-force on this desperate need? Can someone explain to me (other than the environmentalist's drumbeat) why this is so hard to implement?? I hear the talk but see no movement. Crisis indeed!!

OK, so it's a dream that I see the head of DOD standing at Pennsylvania Avenue - Gates - asking people walking by for spare change to fund the wars, buying and building weapons, feathering his nest for retirement. And I say: "Sorry, I only have fare for a bus ride to Kabul and back - maybe later. Say, didn't you used to be famous? Why don't you get a job? I say. He get angry and starts yelling, "I only asked ya for a billion! Everyone has a billion!" It was embarrassing - there was some white spit on his chin.

Still, the world is watching. As we Americans celebrate the Declaration of Independence, let’s stand with Iran by recalling the first democratic revolution in Asia. It began in 1905 in Iran, driven by the quest to secure parliamentary government and a Constitution from the Qajar dynasty. Now, 104 years on, Iranians demand that the Constitution they have be respected through Islamic democracy and a government accountable to the people. They will not be silenced. The regime’s base has narrowed dramatically. Its internal splits are growing with the defection of much of the clerical establishment. One distinguished Iran scholar, Farideh Farhi, wrote this to me: “So I cry and ask why we have to do this to ourselves over and over again. Yet I do have hope, perhaps for purely selfish reasons " because I don’t want to cry all the time, but also because of the energy you keep describing.

She may not succeed but I admire her values, her fortitude and the family and staff that stands behind her. I welcome a new standard bearer because I'm sick of the Washington-as-usual who promotes those who have waited in line for what they believe is their right to speak for conservatives. Those who speak her language and still believe in a free America understand what she is doing. Perhaps....a female Patrick Henry.

Energy Independence A Matter of National Security
Eaglewings

This sounds reasonable enough to me. Would any of your democrats want to explain to me and to the rest of America why you refuse to allow us to tap the energy resources that BELONGS TO WE THE PEOPLE? That us OUR OIL and those are OUR RESOURCES, and the jobs those resources would create could go a long way toward turning this economy around. It is foolish to think that you can go from 1% energy generation to enough wind and solar energy to reduce our use of carbon based fuels in a reasonable enough time frame to totally rule out all carbon based fuels. That is just plain foolhardy. Care to explain dems?

Gas prices: The key to fuel economy
jatfla
by jatfla  5-19-2009    1
There will be a market for these smaller cars, but how many families can fit theirs into one? They are going to be super dangerous on our highways; ie. collisions and in the long run cost people more. This is nothing but pure blackmail. All the while, those in power will continue to sport about in whatever, usually at taxpayers expense, and the really, really good plan for energy independence is going down the drain. Control us by increasing the price of gasoline so that we can't afford the vehicles we want, are appropriate for our households, offer a reasonable amount of physical security, etc... There is not enough space to say everything about why I hate this. We have become serfs to this Administration.

The Smiling American Jackboot
merrie
by merrie  4-9-2009    2
He is bringing the entire world system of trade and finance under his guidance. He plans to have his own civilian corps of armed men with the same budget and weaponry as our military. He has stepped right over those hallowed Constitutional checks and balances, the separation of powers and all that fancy talk about federalism and states’ rights. He has plans to control talk radio and the internet. His minions dream of amending the Constitution to allow him as many terms as he likes. All of this was done in 100 days. More than 200 years of traditions, of liberty, of laws, of republican government—erased in 100 days. The greatest threat to American liberty does not come from Moscow, Beijing or Tehran. It does not fall from missiles launched by a North Korean cracker bag with weird hair. It does not arise from yet another fatigue-clad buffoon ranting and raving in the South American tropics. It does not spew forth from mosques and Afghani caves.

Bangladesh, and others, moved to Compressed Natural Gas over Oil.
BobbyRutan
by BobbyRutan  4-2-2009    1
CNG programs work well in countries with abundant natural gas reserves like Bangladesh. Italy started using CNG in the 1930s and was the first country to put a viable program in place. Other countries now using CNG successfully include India, Pakistan, Iran, Argentina, and Brazil. CNG has been around in Bangladesh since 1982. “At that time it wasn’t an issue of environmental concerns,” says Iftikar “Sabu” Hussain, CEO of CNG Distribution Company. Compressed natural gas was initially introduced as a domestic fuel alternative to expensive imports, but did not catch on then because converting to the cheaper fuel involved an expensive engine conversion. The increasing cost of imported petroleum, however, plus a rising concern for the environment made CNG a stronger choice in the early 2000s. CNG began to succeed in Bangladesh at this time because of millions of dollars in loans from international agencies to encourage a long-term program.

US Mileage Standards Up for First Time: By 1 MPG Overall

The increase of 1 mpg overall for the fleet of all passenger cars and sport utilities and pickups doesn't seem like much of a boost. But it is the first time that the standards for the entire fleet has been raised and it will cost the industry $1.4 billion during hard economic times. So perhaps this increment is the best that can be expected under the circumstances.

King Oil: Democrat Congressman Calls For Civil War
merrie
by merrie  3-24-2009    2
Since then, the Bureau of Land Management has allowed bidding on leases for oil exploration. But some Democratic members of congress have indicated they would like to see the ban restored. But Walden, whose state is also on the Pacific coast, told CNSNews.com that offshore oil drilling should contribute an important part of the country’s energy supply while greener technologies are being developed. “We have to have natural gas,” he said. “We have to have U.S. oil production. There may be as much as 75 percent of our proven reserves that are on federal lands or in the ocean combined. It’s a huge opportunity for this country to become energy independent.” Walden added that he thinks the process of offshore oil drilling could also provide an excellent stimulus to the U.S. economy. “This is the timeline, when the economy is down, that we should be doing exploration,” said Walden. “Now is the time we should invest.

Energy Innovation
arifsali
by arifsali  3-2-2009    2
I think when pressed, and when our backs are against the wall, creativity and innovation will occur - this country will produce the successor to the internal combustion engine. It will produce batteries that are (maybe even organic) smaller, have greater capacity and are more safely disposed of. It will design new forms of transportation that fundamentally change the very concept. This is really what's needed. But to get there, our backs need to truly be against the wall - that's when the magic will happen.

Okay let me try to understand our well-spoken President. I may not be as highly educated as he is but I think I can make out what the man is trying to say. Oh yes he is just a man he is not a god. Anyway he says tax cuts alone will not help our crisis. Okay so what do you propose TAX HIKES? I agree tax cuts alone do it all but they sure worked every time they were tried in the past. If we couple tax cuts with SPENDING CUTS VIOLA we may have a winner there. But no that is not Obama's plan either. He wants to SPEND SPEND SPEND and then TAX TAX TAX that should do the trick right? Well it did not work when Jimmy Carter tried it nor did it work when FDR did it. I doubt it will work now but Obama does not listen to WE THE PEOPLE. Over 55% of America does not support this PORK PLAN out of Washington yet OBAMA rejects that advice. I guess we elected a KING he sure does like to pass a lot of edicts.

The President Explained Today "Spending IS Stimulus"
merrie
by merrie  2-5-2009
for the housing market from Washington. George Bush's push for an ownership society and the Democrats push to see FNMA and Freddie Mac extend home ownership to groups normally closed out of that part of the American Dream made it unlikely that any regulator would crack down on the mortgage market. This time the twin towers were "Housing always goes up" and "Washington will bail us out if it doesn't". The rest is history. My history, anyway. Wiliam Kristol advises the Republicans on how to counter-punch - separate the real stimulus from the longer-term investments in America. Republicans should stop trying to improve the unimproveable with small-bore amendments to the current legislative package. Instead, they can point out that Obama is supporting under the guise of emergency legislation a bloated catch-all of stimulus, pork and (often bad) policy. UPDATE: It's officially a "SPENDING" BILL, the President announced that "spending IS stimulus" and his minions "got it"
