Sick of being raped by AT&T's "Unlimited" Data plan when using IM?
tycity
by tycity  9-23-2009
Palringo uses Data only, so ATT's bullshit way of charging you extra for IM's (disguised as Text messages on your bill) so it's truly included in your Unlimited Data Plan. With everything that's happened with this economy, can you believe corporations are still such bottom-feeding douches?

Thumb novels: Mobile phone fiction
cakebelly
by cakebelly  7-29-2009
more (at source): Astronomically popular, "thumb novels" are much decried as trash for yahori ("slow learners"). But over the past few years this trashy subculture has stormed Japanese commercial book publishing. In 2007 – keitai shosetsu's annus mirabilis – half of the top 10 fiction bestsellers in the shrinking Japanese book market originated on cellphones. Last autumn, a literary grandee joined in. Jakucho Setouchi, the Marguerite Duras of Japan, revealed herself as "Purple", the author of a keitai shosetsu about a teen's search for love entitled Tomorrow's Rainbow. Setouchi is also a celebrated 86-year-old Buddhist nun who wrote a contemporary update of The Tales of Genji, Japan's racy classic.

Amaze your friends with these tricks!
Rashid Malik
by Rashid Malik  12-15-2008    1
Rockstar Games suffered from arguably the most controversial Easter egg in history, even though it was an accident. Instead of removing the Hot Coffee mini-game from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas entirely, Rockstar merely cut it off from the rest of the game – leaving the assets on the disc. It proved a simple matter for hackers to get their hands on the mini-game, and the more explicit sexual content caused Rockstar a lot of problems. Despite showing nothing more than fully clothed bumping and grinding between consenting adults, the whole game had to be withdrawn and reclassified. The end result was millions of dollars of revenue lost and several class action lawsuits. Rockstar cheekily renamed the more moderate romance achievement in GTA IV after the incident; a polite cut-away to a building roof now throws up the message 'Achievement Unlocked: Warm Coffee'. Another classic example is the game SimCopter, which was released in 1996. One of the programmers, Jacques Servin, added an

Are you a digital native or digital immigrant?
spirithiker
by spirithiker  12-4-2008
Does spending too much time using technology alter the way the brain works? Some scientists believe it does while others don't. I don't know about altering the way the brain processes data, but I believe new data, whether learned via technology or not, causes you to alter your outlook somewhat. Learning through the spoken word, a book or a webpage doesn't matter as long as you use the info in a positive way.
