POPSThe church was hijacked by Christianist Cultist. My personal orientation in such matters is that the original teacher of what became Christianity would laugh derisively at expressions of Temple worship and personalization that pass for expressions of piety. My evangelical friends who had previously scoffed at my views have now come into congruency with my non-theistic beatitude oriented view.

POPSThe Nut Does not Fall Far From the Tree I do not know about you but I certainly can see a pattern emerging here. It would appear that the Rev Wright and his radical anti-white capitalist rantings was not at all out of the ordinary for Obama after all. I may not be the smartest bird in the forest but I can surely discern the obvious. Obama attends a church that preaches against WHITE American, sits on a board with a man who is unabologetic about bombing American buildings, and now we find him associated with a bunch of nuts (acorns are nuts). We are rapidly heading into a time when the inmates are going to be running the asylum. We need to get the NUTS out of politics not vote them in.

POPSThrough Which Avenues is Contemplative Entering the Church? Contemplative Spirituality: A belief system that uses ancient mystical practices to induce altered states of consciousness (the silence) and is rooted in mysticism and the occult but often wrapped in Christian terminology. The premise of contemplative spirituality is pantheistic (God is all) and panentheistic (God is in all).

POPSDonald Miller Here is an article about Donald Miller on cnn.com Supporters say Miller's authentic, graceful approach to God has finally given a voice to their brand of Christianity. The book also debuted at a time when the emerging church movement -- which emphasizes the individual's faith experience and varied worship styles -- is flourishing, signaling a fertile audience for such religious musings among more socially liberal evangelicals. POPSSynthetic life - a step nearer Moreover, Dr. Venter’s team, led by a Nobel laureate, Hamilton O. Smith, has yet to accomplish the next — and biggest — step. That would be to insert the synthetic chromosome into a living microbe and have it “boot up” and take control of the organism’s functions. If that happened, it would be considered by some to be the creation of the first synthetic organism. The failure to achieve that tempered the reaction of some outside scientists to the announced achievement. “Right now, all they’ve done is shown they can buy a bunch of DNA and put it together,” said George M. Church, a professor of genetics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Venter’s team last year reported successfully doing such a chromosome transplant, but it was with the natural genome of one type of Mycoplasma transplanted into another species of that bacterium. POPSYou want to see a butterfly? A poke on tract evangelism I used to own tracts, but I never liked them. Even as a kid, I though they were cheesy. As I grew older, and several complete strangers gave me a tract on the street, I got a very sour taste when I encountered them, because it felt so impersonal and cold. Most people that gave me a tract didn't even ask me my name- it was as if they were filling a quota over actually connecting with me. Here's a little humor on the the topic from The Core Blog...

POPSOrthopraxy over Orthodoxy Beliefs lead to behaviors, behaviors create habits, and habits shape character. Drudging around endlessly through chapters and verses of the Bible (or the Koran), has never been one my most favourite thing to do. (Sorry! I find it long-winded and boring! *LOL*) I don't think getting lost in the details or analysing and interpreting holy writings to death, will get me any nearer the "truth". To me, it's the overall message that matters and that should be the same, no matter what religion (or not) one chooses to follow. Love thy neighbour, do unto others, love don't hate and do the right thing. That's pretty much my *religion* and the long and short of it all I reckon and it works whether you are an atheist or a believer. One size fits all. .:)

POPSAlexander Robertson School This is a good perspective to talk about with the headmistress. Red Rabbit can offer a very important aspect of children "emerging from the fog and joining the world" Nutrition is such an important aspect of growing up, and with kids at an age of understanding, should nutrition and proper eating habits be apart of that introduction?

POPSArguments against same-sex marriage, part 2 An editorial by the president of the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy, recounting opinions by a number of legal scholars on the potential implications of legalized same-sex marriage for religious liberty. Again, I don't agree, but this is generally an intelligent and balanced assessment.
