POPS Saving The World from Copenhagen Crackup opening chapter concludes with a poem he wrote - 21 lines of verse that are equal parts beautiful, evocative and disturbing." Sample: One thin September soon A floating continent disappears In midnight sun. Vapors rise as Fever settles on an acid sea. The moral here is that roses are red, violets are blue/If Al can write poetry, so can you. Meanwhile, back on Capitol Hill, Sen. Reid, the leader of the Democratic majority in the Senate, finds Little Eva - or at least his Republican colleagues - floating off on melting ice floes on a feverish acid sea. (Don't blame me for all these clashing, clunky metaphors; once you get caught up in Al's poesy and Senate oratory, it's easy to lose control.) The senator got wound up in his Harriet Beecher Stowe mode in an oration about bedpans and health care, which seems to be on life-support in a Senate where Mr. Reid and his Democrats are down to a mere 20-seat majority and can't get much done.

POPSGerontion War, after war after bloody war, cold war and now its bastard, terrorism, and the War on terrorism. We do not learn from history...we repeat it. In new ways, past repeats itself, history, future locked in a crystal ball. Lusty bedfellows both.

POPSAshley Dupre is performing a new job; she is Carrie Bradshaw, sorta Meet the new inspiration for homewreckers, mistresses, and hookers everywhere. I am sure her wealth of knowledge is not to be overlooked. There is a lovely video of Ashley, explaining her new job that she is performing, but it kind of makes me want to throw up. Reminds me of Democrats who want to feel your pain, drop their trousers, grope your daughters and drive their dates off of bridges. But you can view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMqvaCbqXqU

POPSA very special lecture on Ethics rest: But when it comes to violating fundamental ethical principles, Spitzer has left prostitution behind in favor of mass theft and economic slavery: lecture is about the basis for government intervention in the private economy. The title of the lecture is: "From Ayn Rand to Ken Feinberg — How Quickly the Paradigm Shifts. What Should Be the Rationale for Government Participation in the Market?" The answer: the only rationale for Demonrats like Spitzer to seize control of the economy is that they think they can get away with it.

POPSSo it's EXTORTION..no word about ADULTEROUS BEHAVIOR! Hmmm Hmmm Hmmm Well, it certainly could happen to a nicer guy. The increasingly irascible and decreasingly funny late night talk show host announced to his audience Tuesday night that he has been the victim of an extortion plot. It seems the sarcastic leftist has been a serial adulterer with members of his staff, reportedly all female ones. Looks like the caustic native Hoosier has been caught without his Worldwide Pants.

POPSA Precious Gift for Lovers of Literature
The Paris Review Interview Archive "Since 1953, when the first issue of the magazine appeared with an interview of E. M. Forster, our Q&A encounters with the great writers of our times have come to be recognized as a sort of literary genre unto themselves: the Paris Review interview. More than fifty years—and more than three hundred interviews—later, the archive continues to grow with each new issue of the magazine. In November 2006, the first volume of a four-book set of The Paris Review Interviews was celebrated by reviewers across the English-speaking world. In tandem with this publishing project, we offer here online a complete index of every interview ever published, searchable by author and by date—as well as a substantial sampling of the archive’s finest interviews, posted in their entirety. Taken together, these conversations with novelists, poets, playwrights, essayists, biographers, journalists, and critics constitute what Salman Rushdie calls “the finest available inqui

POPS9 Questions for Ben Bernanke This is very sharp. A lot of commentary on the Fed quickly devolves into conspiracy theory and pumping gold portfolios, and so it's refreshing to see some substantive ideas.

POPSDear David Letterman.... “At the end of the day, David Letterman’s show is David Letterman’s show, but as Jay Leno recently pointed out, by being overtly political either way, you alienate half of the country. As someone who has always been a fan of David Letterman, I have become more and more disappointed and yes, dare I say disgusted about his attitude toward Sarah Palin and her daughters. Is it too much to ask to leave a 14-year-old girl out of a late-night joke? Apparently in today’s media, yes it is, especially when it is the daughter of a Republican politician.” *** “Firing Mr. Letterman would send a clear message that CBS will not tolerate any of its employees — even an established media figure like Mr. Letterman — making demeaning and degrading comments about women.”

POPSWhy I Now Support Gay Marriage "But most important, gays and lesbians have suffered too long from legal discrimination, social marginalization and even violence. They are entitled to clear recognition of their equal status as citizens of a country that is founded on the principle that we are all inherently worthy. We will all be better for that. Equal civil marriage should, and likely will, pass because of the public’s growing unwillingness to sustain inequality. Society will also be strengthened as more people take responsibility for one another in marriage. I now encourage others who oppose gay marriage to re-examine the reasons they do so, and to consider changing their minds too."
