POPSDoctors for Obama, Arm of the Obama Campaign That Boasted More Than 10,000 Members
....... sent out an email on September 18, which was received by Beverly B. Nuckols, MD, of Texas, who blogged: The only people who kept bringing up “what physicians can be doing now to ensure that Congress pushes forward to create meaningful health reform” were the same guys who made sure that the rest of us were on “listen-in” mode only.Still no mention about the close connections with Senator Max Baucus, the Obama election and transition teams, the Center for American Progress and John Podesta, or (specifically) Dr. Murthy’s own role on the transition team. Dr. Murthy, an internal medicine physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an instructor at Harvard Medical School, is also the co-founder and president of Doctors for America. Dr. Nuckols did some serious sleuthing and discovered: The leadership at Doctors for America is made up of nearly the same roster of men and women who, in 2008, were the leadership of “Doctors for Obama” in 2008.

POPSSenior Home Care In the cycle of life it can be expected that sooner or later many people will suffer from some form of illness that forces them to become dependent upon someone else. This is usually the case for those who are in their later years. Today, the most common illness that is plaguing our elderly is Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's disease is where seniors begin to lose their memory and have to go through life not remembering their family or friends or even themselves. Not only will they suffer from not remembering their closest acquaintances, but they can also forget how to perform basic functions like eating and writing.

POPSVirtually No U.S. Media Interest In 'Imploding' Canadian Press State-Run Health Care Story
"We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize," Doing (sic) said in an interview with The Canadian Press. Given the current debate in the U.S. over health care and private insurance, and the president's seeming determination to force a state-controlled and ultimately state-run health care regime onto the remaining portion of the system that is still privately run, you would think that the story out of Canada might have attracted the interest of U.S. establishment media outlets. Noel thought that "It's going to be absolutely delicious to see how this gets reported by Obama-loving media in the next 24 hours." Four days later, deliciously proving that "the Obama-loving media" is more than a mere slogan, there has virtually no original source establishment media coverage of what Ms. Doig said, or of anything else relayed in the Graham's CP report.

POPSHey, (Cowering-In-The-)Barracks Forshame Obummer: If You Would Lead, Maybe We Would Follow Does this guy who seems to want, more than anything, for everyone just to be happy and sing along in the same key, still really believe in bipartisanship, at the very moment when the very people with whom he is negotiating are reinforcing the most absurd and inflammatory lies asserting the elder-cide intentions of his health-care bill? Sorry. Did I say "his health-care bill"? Problem number one here is that there's no such thing. As in just about everything else of consequence this administration has been involved in, he seems quite content to simply defer to Congress and allow the sausage-making process on the Hill to generate precisely the policy abomination one might expect, with all the political liabilities we've come to know and love from such a dispiriting collection of 535 (minus two or three) moral midgets.

POPSNew Craze Sweeps Nation: Killing Granny Most Americans hope to die at home; very few do. Our system only rewards continued treatment. If I have a terminal disease, why do I have to spend my last days vomiting from chemotherapy among strangers? Healthcare reformers propose giving us the option of paying for anti-pain (palliative) care at home, allowing us to die a more natural death, and the wingnuts come out of the woodwood insisting Obama wants to kill old people. Shame on those who would spread such manipulative slander!

POPSHow House Bill Runs Over Grandma The author mentions the likes of Stephen Hawkins. Ok..he might be worth saving. But what about those pace-makers, the hip-replacements, the cancer treatments, etc....? Counseling every 5 yrs.? Can you imagine the horror of knowing that your appointment is coming and someone might suggest that you might...for the good of society...want to take a really, really happy pill? Imagine all that will be saved in Social Security. (yuck!) I know my MIL lived 2 yrs. beyond any quality of life...but I'm not pulling the feeding tube!!! My mother is here with me, receiving full-time care from me with the help of some wonderful people at Elder Care. She needs help with walking, bathing, dressing....but she enjoys the home-life, the great-G-children, good food, security and reading. She would be a candidate for those counseling sessions. :~(

POPSUS Health Care Deadly for Uninsured Immigrants That creates a burden. “It’s a killer,” said Brian Conway, spokesman for the Greater New York Hospital Association. But it also establishes the potential for neglectful and unethical if not illegal behavior by hospitals.

POPSAlchemy Laboratories "Thus have I been wishing to reveal to you in this treatise, as far as may be lawful to me, the Stone of the Ancients, that you, too, might possess the knowledge of this highest of earthly treasures for your health and comfort in this valley of sorrow. I write about it, not for my own good, but for that of posterity, and though my words be few and simple, that which they import is of immeasurable magnitude. Ponder them well, that you also may find the Rock which is the foundation Stone of truth, the temporal blessing, and the eternal reward."

POPSCaring for elderly parents makes you poor Study finds that women who take care of their elderly parents are more likely to wind up in poverty. It comes as no surprise to me that unregulated labor markets conflict with our family lives.
