Beck: Black Obama fans were 'taught to be slaves,' while progressives like Stern are 'taking you to
ratilfar
by ratilfar  11-4-2009
This goes beyond mere coded words and "coincidental" targeting -- this is just naked ol' racial stereotyping of the lowest kind. It came, incidentally, at the end of an equally incendiary attack on the SEIU's Andy Stern -- the day before, Beck told his audience that Stern was "really running our country" -- which he wrapped up with a truly vicious attack on both the Obama White House and on progressives in general: Most likely, it'll happen sometime after Christmas. You're gonna see this economy come up -- we're already seeing it, and now it's gonna start coming back down again. And when you see the effects of what they're doing to the economy, remember these words: We will survive. No -- we'll do better than survive, we will thrive. As long as these people are not in control. They are taking you to a place to be slaughtered! The fearmongering doesn't get much more naked than that. Combined with the race-baiting, that's quite a show Fox News has there.

Get Ready for Detroit-Style Labor Relations in our Hospitals
merrie
by merrie  9-10-2009    1
The current House version of ObamaCare (H.R. 3200) goes much further. Section 225(A) grants Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius tremendous discretionary authority to regulate health-care workers "under the public health insurance option." Monopoly bargaining and compulsory union dues may quickly become a required standard resulting in potentially hundreds of thousands of doctors and nurses across the country being forced into unions. Ms. Sebelius will be taking her marching orders from the numerous union officials who are guaranteed seats on the various federal panels (such as the personal care panel mentioned above) charged with recommending health-care policies. Big Labor will play a central role in directing federal health-care policy affecting hundreds of thousands of doctors, surgeons and nurses. Consider Kaiser Permanente, the giant, managed-care organization that has since 1997 proudly touted its labor-management "partnership"

Obamanomics: How Stupid Do They Think We Are?
merrie
by merrie  6-8-2009    4
Pretty stupid. If that weren't enough to make your head spin, Goolsbee also blamed Obama's handling (i.e., nationalizing) of the auto industry on ... President Bush. Obama, you see, was saddled with this mess because Bush — over the objections of his own party — decided back in December to raid billions in public money intended for bailing out the financial sector in order to bail out the automakers. Again, how stupid does he think we are? Bush's move came after then President-elect Obama implored him to take action to stave off the collapse of the auto-industry. This was one of the major topics of their meeting in the White House on November 11, covered here by the Wall Street Journal. Back then, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Harry Reid were already urging Bush to study whether — regardless of how Democrat sponsored auto bail-out legislation fared — the president already had the authority to divert financial sector bail-out funds for Detroit.

Detroit: It's Time For The Post Automotive Era
obvious
by obvious  4-22-2009
Part of NPR's new series on Detroit. Florida's new book is titled "Who's Your City?" I'm thrilled to hear someone supporting regionalism on national radio. The only way to fix our urban cores is with a regional approach, so that they can share in the benefits of the efficient society that they create. Also, the print article consistently misspells "Pittsburgh" by dropping the "h." Grrr!

All is interconnected. Al Gore says: "If, instead, we allow other nations to take the lead in developing the technologies of the future, we would put our entire economy at risk for the next generation. Repowering America is not only about solving the climate crisis; it’s about leading the world. If we don’t, others are sure to take our place.

Communities Print Their Own Currency to Keep Cash Flowing
merrie
by merrie  4-8-2009    1
Under the BerkShares system, a buyer goes to one of 12 banks and pays $95 for $100 worth of BerkShares, which can be spent in 370 local businesses. Since its start in 2006, the system, the largest of its kind in the country, has circulated $2.3 million worth of BerkShares. In Detroit, three business owners are printing $4,500 worth of Detroit Cheers, which they are handing out to customers to spend in one of 12 shops. By law, local money may not resemble federal bills or be promoted as legal tender of the United States, says Claudia Dickens of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. The IRS gets its share. When someone pays for goods or services with local money, the income to the business is taxable, says Tom Ochsenschlager of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Michigan-8 year "recession"
gemfemfox
by gemfemfox  4-2-2009
This is what happens when your reward non-production, ignore your current workers & taxpayers and favor unions, bigger government and liberal feel good legislation. And it is coming soon to the rest of the country, the national plan seems to be at least partially based on Michigan's failed course. As the confiscation of the wealthy's assets and businesses continue, those that have anything left, will LEAVE. Many other countries would be HAPPY to take a much smaller share of the pie. Which is what is happening in Michigan. 100% of nothing is nothing, and that is what we get when we tax jobs out of existence.

Obama Rescue Buys New GM Car For Each New Bureaucrat
merrie
by merrie  3-6-2009
"The president's plan creates new jobs in government and that trickles down to the private sector," said Mr. Geithner. "This is a great example of the kind of public-private partnership that will lead America into a swirling vortex of ever-intensifying prosperity. GM will be hard pressed to keep up with the demand." The president will pay for the plan through a 50 percent "luxury tax" on privately-purchased cars that have more than two doors or four cylinders, or that emit carbon monoxide. "As the old saying goes, what's good for the UAW is good for UAW leaders," Mr. Geithner said. "The only way America can sustain its vibrant capitalist economy is by making the stark choice between risk and reward. Speaking for the president and the Treasury department, we choose reward." Examiner columnist Scott Ott is editor-in-chief of ScrappleFace.com, the family-friendly news satire site, and anchor of ScrappleFace Network News (SNN), seen on YouTube.

Auto Bailout's Death Seen as a Republican Blow at Unions
tabsey
by tabsey  12-16-2008    3
A bit far fetched to say that a political party would stoop so low as to sacrifice a potentially fine industry (alternative vehicles leading the way) just to take a swipe at the Unions. It is saying that Republicans and their supporters are willing to cause ruination on the nation. Crazy! Especially in times they should realize require cooperation.

$73 an Hour: Adding It Up

Detroit’s defenders, from top executives on down, insist that they have finally learned their lesson. They say a comeback is just around the corner. But they said the same thing at the start of this decade — and the start of the last one and the one before that. All the while, their market share has kept on falling.
