POPSMajor Storms Have Left the SD Reservations in Dire Need of Help These people desperately need our help. “While we have heard much about the earthquake in Haiti and the unusual snow storm that hit Washington, D.C. this winter, little national news has covered the crisis building in reservation territory of the Midwest centered in South Dakota and home of the Lakota Sioux nation.

POPSG7 Pledges to Forgive Haiti's Debt They're also looking for ways to fund recovery (which I hope doesn't just put them right back into unmanageable debt).Anyway, a round of applause for the voice of reason.

POPSMASSIVE Explosion at Connecticut Power Plant Shakes Houses Violently; some dead; many injured
Occurred at 11:00 am local time today. Neighbors of the plant said as many as 100 employees may have been working there when the explosion took place. Confirmed information about damage and injuries from authorities was difficult to obtain. A resident of East Hampton almost directly across the river from the plant said he heard a load booming explosion at about 11 a.m. Immediately afterward his house was hit with a concussion that caused him to believe someone had driven an automobile into his home. The concussion interrupted services at a nearby East Hampton church, causing parishioners to speculate that the area had just experienced an earthquake. Other witnesses said they felt the concussion as far away as North Branford and Durham. A neighbor of the plant said there were quantities of natural gas on the site. A witness looking at the destruction from across the river in Portland said the main plant building seemed to have been substantially leveled.

POPSRescue her - then rape her Society is but a thin veneer in hell holes like Haiti. It is very easy to view this through racisit glasses. Read the book "The Road", and enter a world where our society breaks down completely revealing rape, cannibalism, starvation. Our society is but a thinly veiled fantasy.

POPSFinding Fifty Ways To Tweet There are plenty of hobbies, interests, passions, activities, and chores that help fill our day. Twitter asks ... What are you doing right now? And we answer! A massive wave of consumers have been using Twitter since 2006 to update friends and family about the daily, sometimes mundane, occurances of life. Twitter was helpful to the people of Iran in 2009 when they needed to get messages to the outside world when their own networks were being blocked. Twitter has helped raise money for political campaigns, charities, and most recently with the Haiti Earthquake Relief Effort. It should be no suprise then, that twitter has also helped many large and small business people connect with customers in a very new and engaging way. But how can a business owner really make themost of Twitter? For that matter - how can you really make the most of all social media networks... http://blog.pooririshman.com/marketing/finding-fifty-ways-to-tweet

POPSThe Fateful Geological Prize Called Haiti Notably, in 2005, a year after the Bush-Cheney Administration de facto deposed the democratically elected President of Haiti, Jean-Baptiste Aristide, a team of geologists from the Institute for Geophysics at the University of Texas began an ambitious and thorough two-phase mapping of all geological data of the Caribbean Basins.

POPSThe west owes Haiti a bailout. And it would be a hand-back, not a handout There is no connection between these two events. But in the public imagination maybe there should be. The world cannot yet find $1bn in debt relief for Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere, a country that spent more in 2008 servicing its debt than it did on health, education and the environment combined and that has now been flattened. But, over a weekend, a single country could rustle up $85bn to keep a single company in business. It is an obscene reminder that, in the world of global capital, distressed assets are still more valued than distressed people.

POPSFirst mother to deliver a child in Haiti amid the chaos, named the child "Israel" Haiti's Hero: Israel Amid the devastation in Haiti, one tiny nation has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help: Israel. The day after the crushing earthquake rocked the island, a team of 250 Israeli medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, lab and X-ray technicians and even a psychiatrist, touched down in the Caribbean nation. They created a mobile hospital, including a surgical unit, pharmacy and maternity ward. Also, members of ZAKA, a volunteer ultra-Orthodox rescue organization, dug through the rubble on the Sabbath to save lives, stopping only to pray. The first mother to deliver a baby amid chaos named the child "Israel." I am proud to point out the heroism and selflessness display by the Israelis, while some nations do nothing. Someone must, because Israel will never seek out praise.
