POPSWill Obama Give Up The Bin Laden Ghost Hunt? . . . . has ended up killing more Muslims than it has Islam's enemies. Al-Qaeda may be picking up adherents in North Africa and Yemen, preparing its return, but it certainly is no longer in a position to destabilize Saudi Arabia or any other Arab country. And, although Hayden didn't say it, there is no good evidence that bin Laden is capable of mounting a large-scale attack. He failed to pull off an October surprise, as many in the FBI and CIA feared he would. Despite all this, whether bin Laden is alive or dead is actually pretty irrelevant. President-elect Barack Obama has no real choice but to revitalize the search for him, if only for political considerations. If al-Qaeda were to attack in the U.S. in the first months of his term, Obama would end up explaining why he wasn't more vigilant for the rest of it.

POPSMy Beautiful Blue Indiana! I am so pleased that the majority of voters in my home state of Indiana chose Obama over McCain! It has been an exciting election for us Hoosiers, who normally get little attention due to the assumption that Indiana is a dyed-in-the-wool red state. Well, not any more! Woo hoo! I was one of the Hoosiers who cast an absentee ballot this year. :)

POPSBarry Goldwater's Granddaughter: Why McCain Has Lost Our Vote
Also from the source: My grandfather (Paka) would never suggest denying a woman's right to choose. My grandmother co-founded Planned Parenthood in Arizona in the 1930's, a cause he supported. I'm not sure about how he would feel about marriage based on same-sex orientation. I think he would feel that love and respect for ones privacy is what matters most, not the intolerance and poor judgment displayed by McCain over the years. Paka respected our civil liberties and passed on the message that that we should conduct our lives standing up for the basic freedoms we hold so dear. Nothing about McCain, except for maybe a uniform, compares to the same ideology of what Goldwater stood for as a politician. The McCain/Palin plan is to appear diverse and inclusive, using women and minorities to push an agenda that makes us all financially vulnerable, fearful, and less safe. Nothing about the Republican ticket offers the hope America needs to regain its standing in the world

POPSStudents Protest FOR flag - Educrats Die of Embarassment
Students on campus started a campaign to wear as much red, white or blue clothing and carry as many flags as possible Thursday in protest of Tuesday's decision, despite the apology. Jake Shelly wore the same shirt he wore Tuesday and was not disciplined. "I am glad so many people are supporting this and wearing red, white and blue," his sister said. She believes the swift change in rules was because of the overwhelming student action. A.J. Galindo is one student who wore a patriotic shirt to school. Galindo's shirt honored Marine Cpl. Joshua Pickard, a family member who died in Iraq in 2006. Pickard's two brothers remain active in the Marines. "I think it is horrible that you can't wear an American flag to school without something like this happening," he said, referring to the flurry of activities during the school's lunch hour. "We have people fighting for our country and dying every day, but we can't wear an American flag at a public school?"

POPSSimple Trick to Stay Motivated When Times Get Tough It’s the everdayness of our lives, the daily minutiae that often gets us through the really hard times—the loss of family, illnesses, joblessness. So let that same principle work for you on a micro level by creating some structured everydayness with your projects.

POPSMcCain's VP Choice a Marginal Creationist To be fair, it doesn't appear that McCain's pick for VP is a dyed-in-the-wool creationist but she still believes in the absurd notion that biblical creationism has a ligitimate place in the science classroom. Her ridiculous "teach the controversy" stance is of course the back door ploy by religious fanatics to gain a toehold in public classrooms. I don't see them siding with Native American's to teach their particular creation myth.

POPSGold nanoparticles go couture They say the difference in price is like comparing a Toyota with a BMW What is a surprise, is the number of colours that result. Other metal compounds can have particular colours, such as the red of lead or iron oxide (rust), the blue of Copper nitrate, and while silver nitrate has been used in photography, This is the first time colours have been drawn from Gold and silver in this way. One of the reasons Gold is so expensive, apart from it's history, and the futures market, is because it has so many applications.

POPSBrooklyn Jihadis Interrogate Tourist for Taking Picture At last, we blurted out that we were admirers of Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) and wanted to obtain information about conversion. We were even knowledgeable enough to blurt out “Salaam” and “Allahu akbar.” The last utterance seemed to be the “Open Sesame” that got us out of the basement and back to Bedford Street, where we managed to take a picture of the mosque before hailing a cab and making a getaway.
