Drugging Our Kids to Enrich MDs and Big Pharma
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  12-14-2009    1
We Americans will do anything for money; outsource our jobs, imprison the poor, rip off our Grannys, militarize our sons, pimp our daughters, drug our kids. We call it capitalism and praise it to the skies. We denigrate, scapegoat and cast out anyone who dares to criticize. More from the article below: ""All these drugs may curb a target symptom slightly more effectively than a placebo does for a short period of time, say six weeks," Whitaker said. However, what "you find with every class of these psychiatric drugs is a worsening of the target symptom of depression or psychosis or anxiety, over the long term, compared to placebo-treated patients." "So even on the target symptoms, there's greater chronicity and greater severity of symptoms," he reports, "And you see a fairly significant percentage of patients where new and more severe psychiatric symptoms are triggered by the drug itself."

Senators cheer touchdowns during healthcare negotiations
jatfla
by jatfla  12-6-2009    2
Aren't we all encouraged by the serious, dedicated, bi-partisan, transparent work being done by our *representatives* in Washington?? However, I believe they were surely watching the wrong sport. I guess it's not basketball season when their thoughts would be more in tuned to a 'slam-dunk' against the American peoples' wishes regarding their HealthCare bill. I watched Durbin today hammer against the American Insurance companies saying that the Government could offer the citizens a much more fair and balanced option for their health care. His main concern seemed to be the private insurances and drug company's profits. So this really is about a full-frontal attack on the free-market system, capitalism, and our choice as to who we want to entrust our insurance/health care coverage to. While they party and watch a football game during their 'negotiating session', you & I get to worry about what they are going to do to us through the ramifications of this horrible bill that they in

Drug Makers Raise Prices in Face of Health Care Reform
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  11-22-2009    2
The drug companies “can charge what they want — it’s not fair,” Eric White, the 42-year-old owner of a small jewelry store in Queens, said as he left a pharmacy recently. He shook his head. “What can I do?” he said. “I need my medicines.” Catherine J. Arnold, a drug industry analyst at Credit Suisse, said her latest study of the nation’s eight biggest pharmaceutical companies showed markedly similar results: list prices rising an average of 8.7 percent in the 12 months ending Sept. 30 — the highest rate of growth since at least 2004. Unscrupulous vultures! I would be outraged if I were an American. Heck, I'm outraged anyway. What a sad and sorry state of affairs. :(

Female Sexual Dysfunction: Myth or Malady?
aklimento

Don't you know that no artificial love can exist? That this is nonsense as it is. Can some magic pill (that is in fact sneak oil, pure and simple) replace whole history of relationship from very beginning, from that first excited glance, first rose, first sign of attraction to the real collisions in rough stormy life with forgive and forget and swearing to the very end... Real love is beautiful openwork construction has to be built every day non stop one step after another, and cherished, and guarded, and nurtured, and can be stomped and demolished with one cruel step... As in fact whole life itself...

Medical Insurance Fat Cats Working to Fleece Regular Citizens
foxyarse
by foxyarse  10-29-2009
In the election Obama promised comprehensive and affordable health care to every citizen including the 47 million people without medical insurance. But when he came into office after seven months his concessions to medical insurance companies and drug companies are so glaring that the White House has to conceal the details of what is health care plans are really about from supporters because he doesn’t dare tell those who are organizing for his healthcare reform the details of his exceptions and bailouts for Insurance agencies. No longer is there talk of a public option, now the administration just mumbles about a purposed health co-op. If you think about it health care should be a basic responsibility of society. In a system where profit is at the heart of what rulers and regulators are trying to do then people don’t have a right to get their medicals needs met. There are 45,000 unnecessary deaths in America because people don’t have health insurance. And the for profit system of h

A vaccine for anxiety? The real reason why drug companies are pushing more vaccines

"If the current health regime is allowed to continue in America, I can easily imagine a day when anyone who disagrees with vaccinations is immediately "diagnosed" with Oppositional Defiant Disorder and injected with a psychiatric vaccine designed to "cure" the "disorder." Effectively, it will be a chemical lobotomy."

Tell me again how the "free market" is the best way to manage health-care delivery, part II: health insurance and rape victims
enbar
by enbar  10-25-2009
Of course, the truth that very few people want to say out loud is that for-profit insurance companies are actually doing the smart thing by denying coverage to sexual-assault victims. If you've been raped, you're probably going to require expensive one-on-one therapy and who knows what other sorts of treatment. You're a bad risk. Why not deny coverage? At least, that's how it looks to me. Someone can explain to me if I'm getting it wrong somehow.

AHIP Declares War On the U.S.
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  10-20-2009
Read the article and then DO SOMETHING! Following are a couple more paragraphs to whet your curiosity. "For many years America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) have been fighting an undeclared war on US citizens. According to the Harvard Study cited recently by Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), lack of health insurance and denials of legitimate claims kill more Americans each month than died in the attacks on the World Trade Center. When Al-Qaeda or Nazi Germany declared war on the United States, their intent was to kill US citizens and to cause economic collapse in the United States. That’s how a modern war works. The study released by PWC and commissioned by AHIP reveals the arsenal the Health Insurance companies plan to use in the coming war. They are going to kill Americans by putting the price of health care out of reach. They are planning to kill their paying customers by finding new ways to deny care."

Top Researcher On Cervical Cancer Vaccine Warns About Its Dangers
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  10-8-2009    1
So why do cervical cancer vaccines continue to be pushed by doctors and health authorities across the US, UK and other first-world nations? Because Big Pharma is the great corporate puppeteer that's pulling the strings of legislators. With enough money and lobbyists, you can always overcome scientific thinking with fear-based marketing and under-the-table deal-making. Science-based medicine has no place in a world where disease is big business. There's a ridiculous amount of money to be made by pushing vaccines onto people who don't need them. If I had ten bucks for every teenage girl that's been injected with a cervical cancer vaccine, I'd be... well... GlaxoSmithKline.
