POPSPot Paradise "Jacqueline Patterson, 31, uses marijuana to treat her cerebral palsy and a severe stutter. She fears she would be booted from the program if she tried to grow dope at home or buy it from street dealers. The upshot, critics say, is that a law crafted to help sick people has morphed into a lucrative trade, one in which rural farms are supplying urban dispensaries that cater to mostly recreational users armed with doctors' recommendation"

POPSDefense dept. opposed to franken's anti-rape amendment The amendment, sponsored by Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.), is intended to address the type of Kafka-esque treatment Jamie Leigh Jones received from the U.S. justice system after she was gang-raped by fellow KBR workers. The defense contractor argued that her employment contract required that her claim be heard in private arbitration rather than in open court. POPSWhere in the world can you find HAPPINESS?
This headline caught my eye because I must honestly say; I did not believe the good ole USA would be on that list. I was wrong. Although no US cities ranked among the top 5, we did make it to 7. Guess what? It's San Francisco! Hey, when I think Frisco I think fun. That's what this survey was about, Perception not Reality. We all want happiness but it’s mainly out of reach for most... I'm talking about the average bloke, not the rich buggers who look down their noses at the rest of us. Our only purpose to these guys is to wait on them hand and foot. But I digress... Happiness is elusive to us in the states because… We are too busy scrapping with one another! And if that’s not bad enough... We’re encouraged to do so by those we select as leaders. How sad is this? As Rodney King (A Black Amer. who, on 3/3/91, was victim to police brutality) had asked so long ago, WHY CAN'T WE JUST GET ALONG? Sorry to say, we can’t! Americans rather Brawl not Party. Too bleak for me; See You in Rio!

POPSWashington All Wee-Weed Up!
Exactly. Not only that but the Great Antagonistic Hoard wanted to know why the President would insult the office by the use of such slang. The President saying "wee-weed," has now been added to the list of his alleged great Hitler Communist Afro-American sins. Although, gasp!, it seems, this clip reports, being "wee-weed," in in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, William Shakespeare, the King James Bible, not to mention Boswell's Life of Samuel Johnson. If that ain't English, --or, at least -- roots of the English language, what is? But, no dope, everybody's wee-weeded up and getting ginned. Lots of folks think what's on our corrossive and toxic news is what is but often, way 4sure, it ain't. Obama hasn't even stepped up to the plate on this (and some other issues). I mean, he's doing yeoman work to the max and calling some shots but when It's Time to Step Up to the Batter's Box it's gonna be a Home Run, 4sure...and he's point out the spot, like Big Babe & blast it like H

POPSCriminal investigation into CIA treatment of detainees expected This is BS - period! Holder should appoint a special prosecutor to investigate him, for not prosecuting the Black Panthers who intimidated voters. This is plain BS - meant to ONCE again try and take some heat off his boy Obama! Whenever PR is bad Obama opens up Bush again....what a freckin dope!

POPSBaptist college dope ban un-Christian: father IF, and a big IF, this had happened - interrogation for up to three hours - surely the parents would be withdrawing their children and contacting police, not complaining. No one is disputing the smoking, so the kids have been honest, most probably.

POPSOne Small County In Michigan Ilsadago1 wrote: "coffeesnob wrote:" "In the year 2000: 85,000 people died (alcohol related) 17,000 people died (ALL illicit drugs usage combined) What is not "realistic" about that? Numbers are numbers, dead people are dead people." It's not always about how many deaths there are. It's the crimes committed to get, make, distribute and buy the drugs. It's the children permanently made ill by inhaling the fumes produced by a meth lab. It's the cost of medical, dental, substance abuse and mental health care. It's about the loss of employment, inability to care for children financially, hunger, homelessness and lack of basic needs. It's the lengths people will go to to feed the habit - it's not about getting 'high', it's about not getting dope sick. They will do ANYTHING to not get 'sick'. Death is the least of the problems.

POPS"Godless nations look pretty good" In the categories of lowest infant mortality, gross domestic product per capita, economic equality, environmental protection, aid to poor nations, establishment of social justice and quality of life, it is again the most irreligious nations which make up most of the top 20. Not surprisingly, Zuckerman cherry-picked liberally biased categories and conveniently left out vital categories which America dominates like rich bankers per capita and rate of weekly church attendance. Stand your ground against tofu-eating, progressive evidence-based thinkers like Zuckerman. Let the invisible hand of the free-market work. Other than less violence, less poverty, health care for everyone, better public schools, better wages, better benefits, better government and a cleaner environment, you never know what America would look like without religion and unfettered capitalism.

POPSPolice bust nan and pop 'dope shop' We can all sleep a little easier tonight, despite the fact that these criminals are back in their lounge room. Their elderly customers have nothing for their aches and pains.

POPSPersonally, I blame the parents. There are always exceptions but I agree with the teacher. I have 4 very dear friends who are public school teachers and they all can attest to being confronted (even attacked) by angry children. A girl in my G-daughters 2nd grade class threw a chair at the teacher. I also blame the "system" that allows this behavior to go unpunished and a culture that breeds undisciplined children. This 'tolerance' goes too far. On an entirely unrelated issue, my G-son was doing his science homework and asked for my help. I told him that I never liked science in school so I probably wouldn't know the answer. He asked me what I liked and I told him History, English, Geography and PE. He said that they didn't have History (4th grade) and he wished they did because he wanted to be an archeologist. I asked him: "But you know all about global warming and recycling, right?"

POPSDrug Rehab Program California drug rehab is generally more successful than regular drug rehab. But that doesn’t mean that every California drug rehab program is effective. It’s true that California drug rehabs are inherently advantaged by the uniqueness of their environment.
