POPSAnother Kokichi Kurosaki quote (isn't he a kick...) Again, from a century ago and a far away land, Kokichi Kurosaki hits the nail on the head... Where we typically try to create a local fellowship based on common beliefs or shared doctrines, he shows why that approach has never brought the Body of Christ into unity -- and can't. "Fellowship" with brothers and sisters in the Lord can only truly come from our fellowship with Him being expressed in our fellowship with one another. In a sense: the only way to be united, is to manifest the Reality that we are already united (in Christ) -- but now is the time to honor it.

POPSEvidence vs Dogma This clip pretty well sums up the point. Fundamentalists simply don't realize how abjectly stupid they sound when they constantly parrot the religious right mantra that evolution is "only a theory". No matter how often they hear that they are wrong in their use of the word theory they keep on trying to use the same old tired argument. They truly are ignorant in the manner in which they ignore what is being said. As the article clipped say, they literally stick their fingers in their ears and go la, la, la. How pathetic.

POPSWhatever happened to the principle that doctors must always save lives? Here doctors refused to take any action to save her life because they said she had drawn up a so called living will in which she had expressed the wish to die and claimed to be '100 per cent aware of the consequences.' It has been reported that, having taken legal advice, the consultant renal physician Dr Alexander Heaton took the view that she was mentally capable of reaching this decision and therefore he had to respect her wishes. He even told an inquest into Miss Wooltorton's death that he feared he might be charged with assault if he tried to intervene. The central principle of the Hippocratic Oath is 'do no harm'. I would argue that, by allowing a patient to commit suicide and taking no steps to prevent her death, a doctor has contravened that oath.

POPSSteele denounces 'race card' Glad that he is stepping forward...as are several black bloggers. But no matter what the GOP or conservatives do many will continue to believe the Liberal dogma because it keeps them in victim-mode and provides the division that the Dems need to retain their influence.

POPSThin green line is bad science "On Tuesday, Inhofe issued a statement from Capitol Hill that noted how scientists with independent views don't get on too well with the IPCC. Witness Chris Landsea of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, who resigned from the IPCC this year because He believed an IPCC top hurricane scientist wrongly linked severe hurricanes to global warming; as a result, He wrote, "the IPCC process has been subverted and compromised, its neutrality lost." POPSCulture of Terror: the Collapse of America ~ I
This great betrayal has taken our “progressive” culture, with “the giant” of applied science lurking over everyone’s sense of the possible and turned it to fatalism. These betrayals have led to “multiculturalism” and the balkanization both of nations, and families, the better to centralize power and to scramble all states into a World “Commonwealth” where power, control and resources are monopolized by an oligarchy; those closer to the labyrinth’s center having greater amounts of all material and social perks and greater immunity from “law.” The dogma of “relativism,” gussied up as “situational ethics” means in effect that the law is the will of those with most power and that reason is an instrument of will and thus of appetites; that the rationales of this new State are thus insane, acts of wanton atrocity, to quote Melville in the epigraph. This deification of the will is a radical subversion of the principles of law, justice and righteousness, as well as charity rooted in Scri

POPSThe 11 Keys of Spiritual Activism 4. Apply Synergy and Teamwork to Accomplish Goals. 5. Spiritual Activism is the Pursuit of Service for the Good of All, Not for the Advancement or Benefit of Individuals or Selected Communities. 6. Pursue Integrity, Honesty and Dignity in the Conduct of Your Actions. “Integrity is doing the right thing even if no one is watching.” 7. Do not Defame Your Detractors or Those Who Doubt You. 8. Raising Another Up Raises You Up As Well. 9. Learn to Listen to Your Heart and Not Your Mind. 10. Search Out Viable and Sustainable Solutions. “Give a man a fish and he eats for a day.Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.” 11. Spiritual Activism is about process. The process by which you arrive at the goal is as important as reaching the goal itself. If we live the change we want to see in the world, we cannot lose. We have already won.

POPSAmerica's Hidden Nightmare for its Sick Poor It is part of the paradox that while, for instance, the USA is light years ahead of Europe in research into and treatment of cancers, its basic services lag far behind. The interest in universal healthcare is motivated surely by a response to what is available for the most vulnerable. Whatever, the 'interest' is surely worthwhile, and should be inflected by morality rather thanm rigid political dogma.

POPSLeft in Dark Times, Bernard-Henri Lévy Maybe the most important book of our time! I think I will move this to the top of my list MORE: The neoprogressives believe "liberalism is the source all the planet's evils," Lévy writes (p. 90), so they must declare innocent those Third World despots who "meddle with their citizens and treat them like cattle," because in the neoprogressive dogma "the System, and the System alone, bears full responsibility." They reject that the great revolutions, including the British and the American, were explicitly liberal, and used liberal thought in their struggle against absolutism (p. 92). The liberal market-based republics can more easily be portrayed as Evil, when liberty, which might be thought their finest aspect, disappears from view.

POPSThe Fomenting Of Hate (Legally)!
(Continued From thinkingblue.blogspot.com) But that is not what is happening; the O'Reillys and Limbaughs are fomenting and stirring up hatred towards anyone who does not think or believe like they supposedly do. And if you don't believe like they do, then you will be punished. I enjoy freedom of speech but there really is something wrong with our laws when one single nut, who has unlimited access to the airwaves can promote "lynchings" of sort. (They know what they are doing and are joyful when their hate mongering produces murder.) I am deeply saddened to think there is no way we can put a stop to this. Because of this madness, I believe, there will be more killings. Maybe there's a magic number that when reached, a voice of reason will step forward and say “ENOUGH!”. I ponder that number, is it 10, 15, 200 or a 1000. A thousand doctors, lawyers or anyone who respects the law, murdered before “we the people” who live in this society can and will say ENOUGH!

POPSRadical Right Spokesman Shows His Stripes Using inflammatory, emotion laden language gauged to stir anger among the Religious Right, Randall Terry spews forth his usual brand of god-inspired, holier than thou bile, to justify the killing of another human being. Granted, he's on the fringe. The sad fact is that I hear justifications that Terry makes aped by his less vitriolic as well. By and large, they all hinge on religious dogma. Not on fact, not on science, but on arbitrary rules set forth by religious authorities.

POPSLegalized Prejudice I would suggest that legislating bigotry is not the way to go here.I understand that this is not a clear cut issue with some who wish to hold on to their religious dogma that discriminates against gays. Too bad! Find another line of "work". Perhaps consider snake oil salesman.

POPSA THINKING MIND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW!
WHY ARE RELIGIONS SO HELL BENT ON FORCING OTHERS TO OBEY THEIR MYTHICAL LAWS AND DOGMA? Especially, on the right to choose to have a legal (or illegal if some religions were to have their way) abortion? I don't even want to think about the RELIGIOUS STANCE against medical or any other scientific research that would better educate us on understanding our existence. Why do religions want to keep the intelligent and inquisitive human brain in the dark? Are they afraid that enlightenment would cause their numbers to shrink? If that's the case then they are fighting a losing battle. Because no matter how hard, this one track mindset, will try to keep knowledge under wraps; it WILL escape and wrap its beautiful arms around all. Then, all mankind will be awarded the magnificent beauty to “THINK” to Infinity and Beyond! ATTENTION ALL RELIGIONS: THIS IS ONE THINKING MIND WHO WOULD LIKE TO KNOW! Sorry for all the clichés and the buoyant language. :-D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MQnjebDlZk
