POPSSuit filed over mass arrest during DNC protest. "Denver police have said they were trying to control the crowd moving from Civic Center. The officers testified in court that they had intelligence that anarchists planned to gather in the park, then move toward the 16th Street Mall to wreak havoc at delegate hotels and other businesses. The activists had posted that plan on a publicly available website."

POPSNewt Gingrich Offers To Chair RNC
Gingrich has operated best as a philosopher for the conservative movement, someone who can both capture the essence of conservatism and put it into action. Gingrich has the skill to communicate to a national audience and an emeritus status that will have people paying attention when he speaks. As RNC chair, his political baggage becomes irrelevant, allowing him to focus on party- and agenda-building instead of running for office. Most importantly, Gingrich understands the technological tools that escaped the GOP in 2008. American Solutions has established a very impressive grassroots structure for policy, which could easily be adopted and adapted to the RNC. As Patrick Ruffini has been arguing at Rebuild the Party, the RNC needs to close the technology gap with the DNC in a hurry. Gingrich could get the GOP to a terrific start in doing just that. Please let this happen. If so, we will be repopulating Congress with boatloads of true conservatives by 2010.

POPSJohn McCain and Sarah Palin's Guerrilla Campaigning in Colorado Springs This morning, Republicans tell me that a worker at Invesco Field in Denver saved thousands of unused flags from the Democratic National Convention that were headed for the garbage. Guerrilla campaigning. They will use these flags at their own event today in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin. UPDATE I: I just spoke with the person at Invesco who found the flags and he thinks both sides are exaggerating a bit. The person claims the majority of the bags with flags in them were near the trash, on a dock, and would have been thrown away. The person thinks it was probably an “oversight” by the Democrats rather than any nefarious plot against the flag. But the person doesn’t believe anyone was coming to get them: “The flags were there for a week and a day and no one came looking for them.” http://blogs.denverpost.com/opinion/2008/09/06/republican-recycling/

POPSSummary of the Democratic National Convention 08 With the DNC news the last ten days and all the clipmarkers I follow, I've been Popping and Commening till my fingers wore out. This has probably been the most incredible convention in USA America since the radical days and riot at the Democratic convention of 1968 -- when the Vietnam War and recent killings of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King had shattered the nation. This time the excitement is for a lot more better reasons and the thousands of protesters are at the Republican National Convention, where they belong. With all the clipping and popping and comments swirling around this I thought that perhaps my web page summary of the DNC might be of some value. It has video links to all major speeches, all live music performances, a few video tributes, a quick clip of kicking out Fox News, etc. -- all the good stuff. Note: The permanent bookmark for this page is at: http://www.americancitizenstogether.org/ACT/ACT_080831.html

POPSRepublicans Spread Message of Democrats’ Disunity
Because of the Republican offensive, senior advisers to Obama and Clinton were furiously trying to extinguish constant reports of party unrest Monday morning before the convention had even officially begun. The RNC and the McCain campaign have already launched an ad entitled "Debra" that features one such disaffected Clinton supporter who says she is supporting McCain. In the ad, Wisconsin delegate Debra Bartosevich says that the New York senator has "the experience and the judgment to be president." "Now, in a first for me, I'm supporting a Republican, John McCain," Bartosevich says. “I respect his maverick and independent streak, and now he's the one with the experience and judgment. A lot of Democrats will vote McCain. It's OK, really." Monday night, the GOP was hosting a "Happy Hour for Hillary" in downtown Denver, and earlier in the day, the Republicans released their first of the week's daily "Not Ready '08" memos — this one titled "A Party Divided."

POPS'Obama Sued in Philadelphia Federal Court' "If", and that's a BIG IF, this isn't all some kind of hoax or a simple case of the Obama campaign not having provided the correct information or certificate, or there's some other legitimate explanation, all hell is about to break out in the Obama campaign and Hillary Clinton will have pulled off a hell of a coup! Update; Factcheck.org (owned by The Annenberg Foundation) has a new birth certificate story. As Texasdarlin suggests in her post, this is interesting timing since Obama has just returned from Hawaii. Indeed, what a coincidence that it's today! Update on Federal Lawsuit (Things may be getting more interesting) (As TD suggests, are there links worth investigating between the Barack Obama campaign, William Ayres, the Annenbergs, and ACORN.) Federal Lawsuit http://texasdarlin.wordpress.com/2008/08/21/update-on-federal-lawsuit/

POPSCops To Enforce Pot Laws At Convention City Council member Doug Linkhart, who sits on the marijuana enforcement panel, said he believes police have made pot possession a low priority and doesn’t think there will be any problem during the convention. "Check out the "pot plant" “The ordinance says lowest priority, it doesn’t say stop prosecuting. I’m not concerned police will get carried away. I want police to focus on what’s important, and I expect they will,” Linkhart said.

POPSDNC Launches TheNextCheney.com Republican National Committee spokesman Alex Conant said that instead of debating the energy crisis, Democrats are "obsessing over hypothetical political match-ups." "The DNC is having fun with Washington parlor games, but the rest of the nation is debating the merits of McCain's 'all-of-the-above' energy plan versus Obama's 'inflate-your-tires' approach," Conant said.

POPSCongressman Alcee Hastings Pays Big Money to Republican Brain Donor WOW ! January to March 2008 (that's 3 months folks) and Republican Art Kennedy gets a cool $40K for working with (or more aptly stated, being the "Brains" behind) DEM Congressman Hastings mouth? Fiscal Year 2007 subtotal dollars for Art Kennedy is an astounding $160,000.00 (man-oh-man), that's almost the salary of a Congressman! Not bad Art Kennedy ! Not bad for a Re-thug-lican like you who is in all likelyhood doing his darndest best to undermine the Democratic Party through Hastings' Office. Let's all remember Hastings' recent attack against the DNC...his own Party, and then wonder who might have master-minded it ! Anyone care to guess?

POPSThe FEC is Ready for Action (hopefully McCain action!)
The new commissioners joining sitting commissioner Ellen Weintraub, a Democrat, are: * Democrat Cynthia L. Bauerly of Minnesota * Republican Caroline C. Hunter of Florida * Republican Donald F. McGahn of D.C. * Republican Matthew S. Petersen of Utah Also, recess appointee Steven T. Walther, a Democrat, was confirmed to a full term, completing the six-member panel. These appointments come after six months during which the FEC could not take official action because it did not have the required minimum of four commissioners, making it impossible to issue advisory opinions or dole out public funding. As we've written about several times, the impasse began when President Bush sent a controversial nominee to the Senate for confirmation. As for the McCain debacle, "Knowingly violating the spending limit is a criminal offense that could put McCain at risk of stiff fines and up to five years in prison." http://www.democrats.org/a/2008/02/democratic_part_8.php

POPSPRESS RELEASE After months of the MSM and the DNC trying to brainwash us into falling in line, this is what we have to say - isn't going to happen!!

POPSWho Are Super-Delegates The tabulation of votes for a presidential candidate should be based on the popular vote; nobody wanted to mess with the standard setup as instigated by the founding fathers of this country. However it seems that it is already messed with.

POPS Mitt Romney Endorses McCain Called Him A True American Hero Romney today was gracious, lavishing praise in prepared remarks on the man who defeated him. "This is a man who tied his political fortunes to the fortunes of his country in a time of war," Romney said. "Such courage is not always rewarded in politics, but it was this time – and that is a credit to both the man and to the party he will lead in the election of 2008." The difference was especially stark compared to the last GOP nomination battle in 2000. As opposed to the week Romney took before endorsing, it took two months for McCain to get behind George W. Bush after that bitter contest. And when he did so in May of that year he initially declined to use the word "endorse." Only after being asked by a reporter why he wouldn't formally offer his blessing did McCain say "I endorse Gov. Bush" -- and then he said it over and over again as if to show his annoyance.
