POPSMass UFO Sighting Predicted - Oct 14, 2008 I believe they feel they have no choice but to show themselves as we verge on self-annihilation, genocide and toxic poisoning. The truth of our inter-galactic lineage will become common knowledge. If I am to believe the vision, the truth of our intergalactic lineage will cause humanity to take one wild ride. They're coming! I'd love a wild ride. Heh heh... :D Clip Song

POPSTaking a loss on a trade This long post is well worth the read to help in coping with a loss on a trade or more specifically when and how to take a loss.

POPSWhy Would Warren Buffett Stoop So Low?
The market still works! With all due respect to Buffett, nobody has yet made a compelling case to me that there is, in fact, a crisis that extends much beyond overleveraged banks with bad business practices. There's a simple fact lost among all of this fearmongering and jawboning about how bad things could get if the government doesn't throw $700 billion (or more) at failing financial institutions. The stock and vulture-capital markets are still generally working, in spite of the cries from politicians and failing speculators to the contrary. The market also has a really good mechanism to help struggling financial companies get money. It's called "price," and it's still functioning. You can see it in action by looking at the one-year CD rates that various banks are offering to entice people to deposit money with them. When the people lobbying the hardest for a bailout are those who stand to benefit from it, you have to ask whether their motives are altruistic or self-serving.

POPSBanks love bailout, hate credit card curbs "A Credit Cardholders' Bill of Rights would level the playing field by protecting consumers from questionable late feesand sudden rate hikes, and requiring clear disclosure of terms and conditions. That doesn't seem too much to ask of an industry that has no problem asking taxpayers to cover its bad bets. Enjoy the bailout, boys. This isn't over yet.

POPSMcCain campaign chief got $15k/Mo from FreddieMac Until just last month , Rick Davis's lobbying firm was on the Freddie Mac payroll, doing little but staying cozy with McCain. McCain "has previously denied Davis's links to Freddie Mac." Davis was also paid nearly $2Million to advocate for Fannie and Freddie. Wait a minute - the head of a presidential campaign owns a company on the payroll of a business taken over by the government during the campaign? Have they no ethical standards at all?

POPSLiberals Fueled Wall Street Woes Prudent best practices in lending fell by the wayside under pressure from liberal activists and "community organizers" who advocated "Change" to loosen lending restrictions to minorities. If you liked this "Change", you'll just love the "Change" the Trojan Horse has in mind for us.

POPSFlashback: Cheney Bet On Economic Collapse If your running the country have access to inside information on where the economy is going, and invest accordingly ( betting on it tanking ) isn't that inside informaiton? Weres the SEC. Should the president or Vice even be able to invest?

POPSChurch Gives Sanctuary to Gay Man and His Family Even down south.......waaaay down south, one can find bastions of welcome and support in Christian congregations. It both warmed my heart, and angered me, to read of the struggles this family had to endure, and yet showed the motivation, love, fortified and determination, to bring their children up in the religion they both cherished along with teaching them about understanding, compassion and the sanctity of true love.

POPSPols Taking Stock Hits Note: Let's hope Mrs. Kerry still has a nice chunk of H.J. Heinz. That stock is up 7% year to date, versus a 15 point drop for the S&P 500.

POPSJohn McCain Co-Sponsored 2006 Bill To Clean Up Fannie / Freddie ......for senior executives. In the case of Franklin Raines, Fannie Mae's former chief executive officer, OFHEO's report shows that over half of Mr. Raines' compensation for the 6 years through 2003 was directly tied to meeting earnings targets. The report of financial misconduct at Fannie Mae echoes the deeply troubling $5 billion profit restatement at Freddie Mac. The OFHEO report also states that Fannie Mae used its political power to lobby Congress in an effort to interfere with the regulator's examination of the company's accounting problems. This report comes some weeks after Freddie Mac paid a record $3.8 million fine in a settlement with the Federal Election Commission and restated lobbying disclosure reports from 2004 to 2005. These are entities that have demonstrated over and over again that they are deeply in need of reform.

POPSBlossom Goodchild predicts mass UFO on 14 oct 2008 or thereabout This is one sensational piece of news or event or non-event to take place. The fact that a well known writer and actress (Australian) is putting this out - with a very short window time , with little to gain and much to lose (if did not turn out true) makes it more intriguing. For me it is better to read about it more in detail than to be caught unprepared - if it turned out true . If it turned out tru (time will tell) it is the BIGGEST event of our life for sure. If it didn't happen - just laugh about it. But the messenger appears serious and if it was a hoax it is very well thought out. Please read and pass it to others.

POPSPressure On Charles Rangel To Step Down "Not Even On The Table" The congressman and his aides have taken pains to be transparent as they discover more and more errors on his tax and financial disclosure forms. Mr. Rangel will hire a leading forensic accountant to investigate his finances for the last 20 years and issue a report to the House ethics committee, Mr. Davis said, emphasizing that neither Mr. Rangel nor his representatives will see the report before it is delivered.

POPSVideo Calls for McCain to Release Medical Records There's an open letter at the site and, when I visited, it had been signed by 13,742 people -- including 473 doctors. Given people's skepticism about his VP choice, McCain owes it to the American people to let them know exactly how healthy he is.

POPSIn Search Of Gov Palin "The best way to do that would be exactly what the campaign of John McCain is avoiding — an honest news conference."

POPSRobert J. Grande for St. Lucie County Sheriff ? NO WAY ! Since Robert Grande seems to be pointing his Campaign Website toward convincing the public his opinion on "Today we must have leaders that are not afraid to tell the truth" is a valiant endeavor, perhaps Mr. Grande will explain to the public why he RESIGNED from Pahokee's Police Department rather than face TERMINATION for his disclosure that he would not arrest anyone for narcotics possession or sale, because he felt these were modern times when everyone did drugs. It is time for you to fess up Mr. Grande and walk the walk you proclaim by telling the truth, so everyone in St. Lucie County will agree with my opinion that you in all likelihood would do absolutely nothing to protect children from illegal drug dealers and the proliferation of marijuana grow houses. YOU? Combating" Marijuana Grow Houses"? You must have been laughing at all good St. Lucie County residents when you typed such an absurdity within your campaign website.

POPSBrave New World of Digital Intimacy
It is easy to become unsettled by privacy-eroding aspects of awareness tools. But there is another — quite different — result of all this incessant updating: a culture of people who know much more about themselves. Many of the avid Twitterers, Flickrers and Facebook users I interviewed described an unexpected side-effect of constant self-disclosure. The act of stopping several times a day to observe what you’re feeling or thinking can become, after weeks and weeks, a sort of philosophical act. It’s like the Greek dictum to “know thyself,” or the therapeutic concept of mindfulness. (Indeed, the question that floats eternally at the top of Twitter’s Web site — “What are you doing?” — can come to seem existentially freighted. What are you doing?) Having an audience can make the self-reflection even more acute, since, as my interviewees noted, they’re trying to describe their activities in a way that is not only accurate but also interesting to others: the status update as a literary form.

POPS Kremlin: South Ossetia Will Join 'One United Russian State' Georgia announced that it was recalling all diplomatic staff from its embassy in Moscow in protest at the continued Russian occupation of its land in defiance of a ceasefire agreement brokered by President Sarkozy of France. “The regimes of Abkhazia and South Ossetia should think about the fact that if they become part of Russia, they will be assimilated, and in this way they will disappear.” Lado Gurgenidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, scrapped agreements that had permitted Russian peacekeepers to operate in the two regions after wars in the early 1990s. Russia attacked the G7 after the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan condemned its “excessive use of military force in Georgia”. Having been rebuffed on Thursday by China and four Central Asian states, Russia will seek support next week from the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) for its recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

POPSTwo wrongs don't make a right Let me see if I get this straight: A politician tries to get his own charges of corruption reduced because another politician committed corruption as well. If this works out for Stevens then all politicians may as well be given immunity. How does that saying go about glass houses...?

POPSWarning on voting machines reveals oversight failure As a result, charged Susan Greenhalgh, a spokeswoman for watchdog group Voter Action, the systems on which Americans will decide the race between Barack Obama and John McCain in November are "scandalously flawed"' and "the integrity of this election is in question."

POPSObama's VP Pick Friday? This might lend credence to the possibility that he'll pick Friday, and use the momentum to carry him into the Democratic convention next week.

POPSAmazon.com: "Know Your Failure" * "A total waste of time and money. If you are thinking about buying this book, you'd get more enjoyment in tossing the money out the window of a car at 60 mph and watching it flutter in the wind rather than be tortured by the vacuous content of this work. Worst of the worst books I have ever read." * "Actually full disclosure my (very liberal) sister bought it as a gag birthday gift. ..One of the most damning things I can say about any book is that I found myself day dreaming while I was reading it; I was that bored. I found it difficult be read because Speaker Pelosi has perfected the art of using a bunch of words but not actually saying anything." * "I guess the real message to America's daughters is "Don't grow up to be an angry, bitter, botoxed anti-American liberal." * "I just finished reading this book. It was very hard to get through. I found it poorly written as well. With respect to what she wrote, I find none of it believable."
