POPSMedicare and Gag Orders "Meanwhile, we have the case of the Association for the Advancement of Retired Persons (AARP), and its fanciful Medicare claims. The self-styled seniors lobby is using all its money and influence to cheer on ObamaCare, even though polls show that most retired persons oppose it. AARP has spent millions of dollars on its TV ad campaign and bulletins and newsletters to its members, including eight million direct-mail letters over Labor Day. The AARP Web site claims that it is a "myth" that "health care reform will hurt Medicare," while it is a "fact" that "none of the health care reform proposals being considered by Congress will cut Medicare benefits or increase your out-of-pocket costs."

POPSA Masterpiece Of Charlatanry For The Naive By Thomas Sowell
should ask themselves where he is going to conjure up the additional doctors, nurses and hospitals needed to take care of millions more patients. If he can't pull off that miracle, then government-run medical care in the United States can be expected to produce what government-run medical care in Canada, Britain and other countries has produced " delays of weeks or months to get many treatments, not to mention arbitrary rationing decisions by bureaucrats. Obama can deny it in words, but what matter are deeds " and no one's words have been more repeatedly the direct opposite of his deeds " whether talking about how his election campaign would be financed, how he would not rush legislation through Congress, or how his administration was not going to go after CIA agents for their past efforts to extract information from captured terrorists. President Obama has also declared emphatically that he will not interfere in the internal affairs of other nations "

POPSAmerican Seniors Association Is Making It Possible For Those Seniors With Dissenting Voices To Now Be Heard
"The American Seniors Association (ASA) invites any American Association of Retired Persons member to mail us your torn AARP card and receive a 2 year- for- 1 year membership with ASA." Over the past few weeks, AARP's position on current health care reform proposals have been conflicted, in the very least. On August 11th, President Obama, in a nationally televised town hall meeting on health care claimed the support of AARP for his health care plan, only to be followed by an immediate press release from AARP stating they had no official position of support for current health care reform. Tom Nelson, AARP's chief operating officer, said, "Indications that we have endorsed any of the major health care reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate.'" However, as Miami City Buzz Examiner demonstrated in a recent post entitled, Health Care Reform Bill: Is AARP sending a confusing message to seniors?, the information presented on AARP's website

POPSTea Party movement smells like racism I went to a meeting of these folks. They were being led by a failed Republican congressional candidate from the Deep South, who was also a loser in Chico's elections last year. Everything I saw and heard at the meeting sounded like Fox News/Republican Party non-ideas. Sensing partisanship on their Web site I sought information. Choosing the direct route, I asked via e-mail. Are you Republicans? I asked. They would not deny it. Are you racists? I asked. They would not deny that either. Wow. You'd think they would. Their position is more understandable now. They are not completely stupid, just afflicted with one of the oldest diseases known to mankind. Narrow minds. > Talk about a narrow minded moron - Quentin - no one can top you on that <

POPSMixed Data Leads to Mixed Markets The Federal Reserve Board staff expects the Central Bank's balance sheet to peak later this year and decline gradually from then on. Yesterday China revealed perhaps another part of the reason for strong asset markets. The country's M2 surged to a new record since data avail in 1999 of 28.5%, well above expected 26.7%, compared to an average in past years around 18% and their GDP this morning was also stronger than had been anticipated. China's economy gathered momentum in the 2nd Quarter of the year thanks to a continuation of the massive fiscal and monetary stimulus. Yesterday's UK jobs figures were, as reported during the rest of the day, horrendous. UK unemployment data rose to hit a 12 year high of 2.38 million in the three months to May, equivalent to 7.6% of the workforce. This bigger than expected jump is the largest rise we have seen since records began in 1971 and 2.4% higher than it was this time last year.
