Social media to the rescue in Iraq
egoldstein
by egoldstein  4-20-2009
Here's the basic message....'Look, back in the U.S. we're going through a horrible financial crisis, yet the people are happy as a pig in shit on twitter. You should see them..they're just tweeting and twirping their way through this here banking crisis. You just need to set up some social media sites and your people will be tweeting, watching silly YouTube videos and text messaging their way to happiness like nothing's wrong." Ok, i kid. Hopefully the creative minds that have headed over there can enable the Iraqi people to leverage the internet to connect with all sorts of information, ideas and efficiencies that help them move forward.

Gay holocaust victims to be remembered in Westminster
zasel
by zasel  1-25-2008    1
Homosexuals who were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust will be recognized along with all the other victims. For years the gay victims of this historic tragedy were essentially ignored. But times have changed, and so has society's willingness to see beyond their petty ignorance, and realize that the gay people who were sent to the camps suffered as much as the Jews, gypsies, handicapped and others who were interred by these miserable animals who incarcerated, tortured and murdered millions. Pain and suffering know no prejudice.

The Brazilian Orkut Rule
brazilnut72
by brazilnut72  1-17-2008
This is true to a point...but Brazilians also seem to get into a technological rut. Hence they are still using Orkut and MSN when both of these "services" are pretty much on the junk heap of their respective sectors in the rest of the world. Another example is the continued use of pirated Microsoft Windows OS's, when perfectly good and cheaper (or free) alternatives are quite available.

Metric: DRM/CA market for mobile to near $1B by 2010
anderson32
by anderson32  4-21-2006
Metric: DRM/CA market for mobile to near $1B by 2010 According to a new study from iSuppli, the market for digital rights management (DRM) and conditional access (CA) software and services for mobile is currently valued below $200 million, but the market will grow to approach $1 billion by 2010. What's more, mobile content protected by DRM/CA in 2010 will approach an estimated value of $20 billion. The vast majority of the DRM/CA market is currently targeting the set-top box market and includes a mix of Intellectual Property royalties, client software and server/subscriber software and represents a market with revenue just under $1 billion in 2005. For more on iSuppli's latest study: - see this press release
