POPSFollow The Money & Why Fannie Mae's Reform Was Thwarted Is it any wonder that the 2005 reforms Senator McCain championed never passed? If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole. POPSBecause We Don't Need It... We don’t need more debts. Palin spent 15 million on a new sports center in the valley, leaving the small town of Wasilla, Alaska in debt to the amount of 22 million. (That’s 22 million more than the debt she took on when taking on this lovely playtime as mayor.) We don’t need family feuds interfering with duties. I know you feel your ex-brother-in-law was a dick… but trying to get him fired...Sarah? We don’t need another vote against gay marriage. This is just standard every day equal rights being overlooked. Sarah Palin disagrees. We don’t need to overlook global warming. Science can now tell us "Yup. That is happening.” Not my words, that is science speak. Sarah Palin disagrees.

POPSPalin sued over private e-mails This behavior shows she thinks it is okay to ignore state law. This is an indication of how she will behave as Vice President. Dick Cheney must be proud.

POPSDownload Good Dick movie Yesterday, I downloaded Good Dick, it's like....... An original, engaging, oddball love story about a video store clerk (Jason Ritter) who falls in love with a very eccentric woman who comes in daily to rent erotica (Marianna Palka). Her ability to accept him into her life seems almost impossible until he’s able to break through to her core and bring out her inner strength.

POPSNo.1 of the Fannie Five - Chris Dodd The Center for Public Integrity criticized Dodd for “being the leading advocate in the Senate on behalf of the accounting industry.” Political consultant and commentator Dick Morris wrote that Dodd had received more from accounting firm Arthur Andersen than any other Democrat and bore responsibility for trying to shield accounting firms from investor fraud liability in cases such as the Enron scandal. Arthur Anderson was forced to surrender its license to conduct CPA business in the US. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Dodd.

POPSDick Cheney, Role Model "Ms. Couric asked Joseph Biden, Ms. Palin’s rival, the same question in a separate interview. He had it exactly right when he told her that Mr. Cheney’s theory of the “unitary executive” held that “Congress and the people have no power in a time of war.” And he had it right in the debate when he called Mr. Cheney “the most dangerous vice president we’ve had in American history.” "

POPSOH, She Understands More Than We Think
"There was not a word about Mr. Cheney’s role in starting the war with Iraq, in misleading Americans about weapons of mass destruction, in leading the charge to create illegal prison camps where detainees are tortured, in illegally wiretapping Americans, in creating an energy policy that favored the oil industry that made him very rich before the administration began. The Constitution does not state or imply any flexibility in the office of vice president. It gives the vice president no legislative responsibilities other than casting a tie-breaking vote in the Senate when needed and no executive powers at all. The vice president’s constitutional role is to be ready to serve if the president dies or becomes incapacitated. Any president deserves a vice president who will be a sound adviser and trustworthy supporter. But the American people also deserve and need a vice president who understands and respects the balance of power — and the limits of his or her own power. That is fundament

POPS"CIA is taking over the churches" ?!
Case in point: Daniel Ellsberg. Once a seminary student, then an officer in Vietnam, and finally working for the nation's highest intelligence organization, he was ordered to compile all the records of our war in Vietnam into a readable history. Ellsberg got them published by The New York Times, instead of keeping them secret. Otherwise known as the Pentagon Papers, these records showed how America deceived its own citizens and fostered a war in that far Southeast Asian country, of which we are still feeling the effects today. President Richard Nixon, to try to discredit Daniel Ellsberg, set up the "plumbers" spies who ransacked Ellsberg's psychiatrist office. Tricky Dick then used these same plumbers to tap the Democratic Headquarters in the Watergate office buildings. Other former CIA agents, like Phillip Agee and John Stockwell, told their stories of intrigue and American meddling in the affairs of other countries. All had a religious background and a penchant for telling the

POPSA White Guy Reflects on White Anti-Intellectualism What else but a deep contempt for education (or book learnin' as we sometimes jokingly refer to it in the South) could explain why Barack Obama's Harvard Law School education can be mocked as elitist and out of touch, while John McCain's bottom-feeder academic record and Sarah Palin's four colleges in six years and degree from the University of Idaho, makes them ready to lead, and more like "normal people?" (And please, don't tell me how it isn't his education that poses the problem, but rather his comments about rural folks clinging to God and guns when times are tight, since a week after he made that comment, Dick Cheney implied that West Virginians were all a bunch of inbreds, and rural whites didn't seem to care, since at least he isn't an uppity black guy).

POPSMean Girl Perhaps this is why Sarah is not allowed to speak with the media, or why reporters are not allowed in the same room with her and heads of state. The article continues: There was a knife-sharp, personal edge to Palin's campaign that many locals found disturbing, particularly because of the warm relationship between Palin and Stein before the race. "I had a hand in creating Sarah, but in the end she blew me out of the water," Stein said, sounding more wearily ironic than bitter. "Sarah's on a mission, she's an opportunist." This woman is from the same mold as Dick Cheney, and that is down right scary.

POPS"America : The Gift Shop"
the PIPELINE: Style on Tap * September 19, 2008 11:32 AM * News National Nightmares for Sale: The Disturbing Mementos of "America: The Gift Shop" By Gabriel Bell philtoledano_america1.jpg After eight years of government that have left a sizable chip on America's shoulder, it's no big surprise that W-era memorabilia isn't exactly flooding the market. Enter photographer Phillip Toledano who previously explored the dirty corners of this country with arresting exposés on offices emptied by the dot-com crash and phone-sex workers. This time, Toledano's "America: The Gift Shop" virtual exhibition takes on the torture, special rendition, and government secrecy with enough cheek to make you gasp, giggle, or groan (depending on your politics). Turning to plastic arts instead of his camera, Toledano has created a conceptual store of Bush administration mementos, including such satirical wonders as a bouncy Gitmo holding cell, an Abu Ghraib bobblehead doll, and a Dick Cheney

POPSThe Eight Year Bailout
Swanson nails it in this excellent article--see link for all of it, but here's some: For at least two years as vice president, Cheney received hundreds of thousands of dollars from Halliburton in "deferred compensation." Of course, that was justifiable in terms of the public good: society might have collapsed had Cheney not piled up more riches. But his riches and Halliburton's were a little crumb off the loaf of large-scale looting that has been the primary focus of our government all these years. While Joseph Stiglitz and Linda Bilmes called their book about Iraq "The Three Trillion Dollar War," they were being very conservative. If you read their book, you find that incredibly conservative calculations place the amount of money wasted at no less than five trillion dollars, and mounting, with no end in sight. And who gets that money? Well, certainly not "the troops" so cynically used to squeeze it out of those gelatinous masses of spineless goo that go by the name "House" and

POPS-REVEALED- DSE Customer Finds Store Employee Porn on Mb Phone "It's sickening to think I've been using this phone near my face when it was used to take all of these photos," said the startled customer, speaking to the Australian Daily Telegraph. "What would've happened if that phone was bought for a child?" The store has asked to see the images, and is investigating the matter. "We take any incidence of this nature very seriously and we will investigate it fully," says a spokesperson. "We've asked the customer to bring us the phone to ascertain the nature of the images."
