POPSREAL ID, A Real Threat to Gun Rights Gunowners of America has stated the same, but this article shows how. Like the Social Security card, now used as a national identifier for non-related purposes, REAL ID would morf beyond its stated purpose (because the SSN is one of its central components).

POPSHomeland Security Blocks Voter Registration Drive While it's tempting to see political interference here (Obama enjoys a big lead over McCain among Hispanics), the fact that this is California would make that stupid as all -- there's no way John McCain's taking that state. More likely, this is just another example of how idiotic, clumsy, and disrespectful of citizens' rights DHS is.

POPSGOV NOT PREPARED FOR TRANSITION OF POWER "For a first-ever presidential transition in an era of terrorism,..." "the first presidential transition for U.S. counterterrorism agencies formed after the 2001 terrorist attacks,..." HUH? WAS TRANSITION OF POWER NOT AN OPTION IN 2004? EVIDENTLY NOT...

POPSVirtualization - Sun's many flavors I think Sun has something interesting here. A huge x86 server (I think the biggest they have is an 8 socket, 4cores AMD box = 32 cores) running Solaris (of OpenSolaris) apps at full speed, running on Solaris containers for different users, and running other OSs on each container with virtualbox, on a CIA/DHS/DOD level secure environment.

POPSJudge Rejects "State Secrets" Claim, Orders Watch Lists Open ...so that "free Americans" are not abused by Homeland Tyranny, arbitrary search and seizures when crossing borders. American citizens cannot be treated like criminals and terrorists without a "warrant, issued upon probable cause", and Dept. of HS must disclose Watch List status to those it treats otherwise. This could be a huge legal precedent to restore the norm of Constitutional restraints on government, with further applications than this.

POPS Cyber-Security::Ignore At Your Peril
The security software industry has taken particular notice of the rapid development of innovative ways to evade security protection. In January 2008, more than 40 security software technologists and anti-malware testers from throughout the world met in Spain to formalize the charter of the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization. This group's goal is to improve the quality and objectivity of anti-malware technology testing to consequently develop more effective products to prevent infectious cyber attacks. In 2008, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the first "mandatory and enforceable" reliability standards addressing cyber security on the United States bulk power system. "The Mandatory Reliability Standards for Critical Infrastructure Protection" are industry-wide reporting standards that require certain users, owners and operators of bulk power systems to establish policies to safeguard physical and electronic access to control systems, train personnel......

POPSI don't know how I missed this..... .....BUT YOU MUST READ THIS VERY DISTURBING ANNOUNCEMENT!!! The part about carriyng out detention and "housing" ANYBODY. We're on the doorstep of mass incarcerations and be damned with local, state regulations and other plans. Folks, if this kind of disasterous government interference continues we are all doomed, no matter who you are. These broad and all-encompassing actions are not even mentioned by MSM. More evidence of complicity if you ask me.

POPSHomeland Security Expanding Big Brother Homeland Tyranny, where everyone is suspect. End of freedom, unless people resist, making use of nothing less than the Constitution and Bill of Rights, through law. This is all contrary to the 4th amendment and presumption of innocence, to electronically "search and seize" every person without a warrant.

POPS"Real ID" rejected by states Schweitzer wants Congress to step up and pass alternative legislation that would stop Real ID and re-instate a commission that was working on driver's license rules before the REAL ID Act was slipped into must-pass defense legislation in 2005. That legislation assigned DHS the task of setting the rules single-handedly. Our "leaders" are worse than children - if their rules are rejected, they will apply them to more & more things, like cough medicine & unemployment eligibility. The stirrings of another civil war?
