Congressional Democrats Point Finger of Blame at Rahm Emanuel
merrie
by merrie  Yesterday 11:08 PM
Congressional Democrats point finger of blame at Rahm Emanuel on healthcare - TheHill.com Democrats in Congress are holding White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel accountable for his part in the collapse of healthcare reform. The emerging consensus among critics in both chambers is that Emanuel’s lack of Senate experience slowed President Barack Obama’s top domestic priority. The share of the blame comes as cracks are beginning to show in Emanuel’s once-impregnable political armor. Last week he had to apologize after a report surfaced that he called liberal groups “retarded” in a private meeting. While Emanuel has quelled that controversy by meeting with advocates for people with disabilities, on Capitol Hill he’s under fire for poor execution of the president’s healthcare agenda in the Senate... more ... http://bit.ly/boJ1Lp

It’s the Constitution, Stupid: What the Tea-Partiers Really Want
billpar

be prepared, he will give you the right answer, but it will not be the answer you want to hear. I know, I asked him. With that, let me tell you what the Tea Party movement wants. I will make it simple and straightforward and easy for all to understand — I will put it in all CAPS and type slowly: THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT WANTS AMERICA TO RETURN TO CONSTITUTIONAL PRINCIPLES. There it is. I said it, one simple sentence. The Democrats and its activist old media want to find “leaders” for the Tea Party movement. They feel that the only worthwhile political movement must have direction from a man (or woman—but mainly men). They saw the movements led by Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini and feel that there must be a dynamic personality for people to follow in order for it to be significant. That same game plan was followed in the 2008 presidential election: find a dynamic leader who fits with the values of larger, more intrusive government, and follow him.

Obama Fatigue

I am utterly convinced that he is FAR TOO STUPID to understand what he’s really doing, since he and his buddies seem to be making it all up as he and they go along. At least a traitor would have a plan. That Obama is so stupid ONLY makes me wonder what the people who voted for him use for brains. Especially for a guy like Obama whose ONLY personal history screamed STAY AWAY! Someone who REALLY doesn’t like me just sent an email telling me that it’s ONLY because of people like me that Obama has had a tough first year. It blows my mind to know that EVERYONE gets to vote no matter how utterly stupid or uninformed they are. But that’s Democracy for you. Does this letter writer not realize that until a couple of weeks ago with the victory of Scott Brown in Massachusetts, that the Democrats controlled the whole Congressional Enchilada? And that the Democrats didn't need even ONE vote, not one stinking vote from a Republican to pass anything and everything they wanted? I guess

I know bipartisanship when I see it, and its not saying one thing and doing another," House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican, told reporters. The White House repeatedly says it wants to find avenues of cooperation, and Mr. Obama will meet Tuesday with Republican and Democratic congressional leaders at the White House " the first of the regular meetings he proposed in his address to Congress. He has also called for a televised bipartisan summit later this month to try to reignite momentum for his health care bill. Republicans have agreed to meet, but say progress will be impossible unless the president starts new with his bill. Meanwhile, Senate Democrats are seeking bipartisan support for a second stimulus jobs package but say they are prepared to move ahead unilaterally. That posturing leaves energy as one key area where cooperation seemed possible " particularly given the words Mr. Obama used http://bit.ly/dqrQsv

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) Embraces Communist Van Jones
merrie
by merrie  Yesterday 6:10 PM    2
For a time, Jones had been politically radioactive to Democrats but Gillibrand’s decision to work alongside him appears to bring Jones’s political exile to an end. Gillibrand, who had a reputation as a moderate Democrat before entering the U.S. Senate, has been steadily tacking to the left since being appointed to replace Secretary of State Hillary Clinton so it’s no surprise that she is cozying up to her party’s radical left-wing. Gillibrand was one of only seven senators who voted against de-funding the radical leftist group ACORN known for its decades of involvement in election fraud. At the time she defended her vote, telling the New York Post through a spokesperson, “The truth remains that thousands of New York families who are facing foreclosure depend on charitable organizations like ACORN for assistance.” “Van Jones is a globally recognized, award-winning pioneer in the green jobs movement. He also happens to be a super fun speaker so this will be a very ....

Who Appears At The Intersection of Every Legislative and Regulatory Failing of the Mortgage System?
merrie
by merrie  Yesterday 12:18 AM    1
CONTINUED ........ Consider the findings of the auditor: "Over 50% of the sub primes were for cash-out refi’s. Regardless of the loan criteria used to pull random samplings for audits, the majority of the last names were Hispanic. The loans I audited were primarily in CA, NV, AZ, FL, CO, compare those to the states with the highest number of foreclosures & illegal aliens." Now that we -- the taxpayers -- have ownership stakes in most of the large banks, I have three very simple questions for the new stewards of the banks -- our Congress: 1. What's the total percentage of subprime loans that have defaulted? 2. What's the total percentage of subprime loans that used a Matricular Consular card as the primary ID that have defaulted? 3. And how is it that Barney Frank -- who appears to be at the intersection of every legislative and regulatory failing of the mortgage system -- isn't being investigated by every agency in the country?

Obama Sets Trap for Republicans

No matter what the Democrats say to the Republicans or anything that they try to put in there, it would only be a lie. They would sneak things in that none of us want. I believe we should wait until all of them are voted out. We get people in there who care about America and believe in the Constitution and then we can listen to them about health care. Hill Leaders Welcome Summit Idea

"Obviously, I am pleased that the White House finally seems interested in a real, bipartisan conversation on health care," he said. "The problem with the Democrats’ health care bills is not that the American people don’t understand them; the American people do understand them, and they don't like them." Congressional Republicans have largely resisted the Democratic effort to write health care legislation. Only one Republican member voted for the House bill when it passed in November. No Republicans voted for the Senate bill during procedural motions or on final passage.

Daily Presidential Tacking Poll

As the federal budget debate heats up, just 35% of voters realize that most federal spending goes to just three areas: National Defense, Social Security, and Medicare. Check out our review of last week’s key polls to see “What They Told Us.” The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates are also available on Twitter and Facebook. Overall, 44% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. That matches the lowest level of overall approval yet measured for this president. Fifty-five percent (55%) now disapprove. The first review of Scott Rasmussen’s new book said “In Search of Self-Governance promises to be the type of provocative and compelling tome for the decade to come that The Third Wave and The Tipping Point were in decades past.” Larry Sabato calls it a “thought-pro

Obama admits Dems "snuck in" health care provisions Posted by Tom Bevan So it's a bit of shock to find out now - from the President himself, no less - that one or both of the bills that passed Congress late last year (the House passed its version in late November, the Senate on Christmas Eve Day) contained language that would have violated this pledge. If we take this statement at face value, President Obama is admitting the the health care bills passed by either the House or Senate (or both) contained provisions which were "snuck in" - presumably by Democratic members and perhaps on behalf of certain lobbyists - that would have in fact prevented people from keeping their current insurance and/or choosing the doctor they want. Obama Has No Choice But to be Pro-Small Business

Well, actually he does have a choice but not if he wants his approval rating to go up. And the ONLY reason he is finally doing SOMETHING for the Americans that pay his salary is because the Democrats no longer have control. He should have never given ANY money to Wall Street and should have put ALL the TARP money into small businesses to begin with. Because you see, instead of creating millions of jobs, he rewarded a few CEO's with fat bonuses (and I don't believe for a second he didn't know they would turn the TARP into bonuses) and he maybe saved a few thousand jobs. But since more Americans have lost their jobs since, or the fact that people are not spending because of this economy, within six months those few thousand, will probably lose their jobs after all. Anyway, here's where Obama is "hoping" to win points with the Independents he pissed off:

Can the Democrats Govern? Or Is Congress Crippled?
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  2-6-2010
Congress may be crippled. In fact, much of the way they work -- besides all taking place in a swamp of corrupting money -- appears more set up to PREVENT things from happening than facilitate any legislation. This latest example is now coming into focus. Somehow one guy, a Republican Senator, is able to single-handedly stop all of President Obama's nominations for important jobs. No wonder so many things get stalled or killed if there are all these ways the will of the majority can be frustrated. The will of the majority may not always be ideal but better than rule by warlords, military dictators or thug mobs. But we better starting using it. President Obama has brains, guts and integrity. Now we want to see results. Things like what this Senator Shelby is doing must be overcome. Changes to improve health care must be made. Other promises lived up to. If the right wing wackos regain control, I fear we'll be in for the worst misrule and poor governance we coul

If this gets any traction – we all need to make sure we get on the horn with our representatives and senators and tell them they better not mess with our most fundamental of all rights – those contained in the First Amendment. You appeal the First Amendment and it opens the doors for the government to take over EVERY aspect of our lives. For those of you who may have forgotten – here is EVERYTHING that is in The First Amendment Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. These idiots are treading in some very dangerous waters here.

Obama admits health care overhaul may die on Hill

Now the health legislation hangs in limbo. Lawmakers are looking to Obama for guidance, but he has not publicly offered specifics. His signals have been mixed. At the DNC event he said Republicans should be part of the process - something they've shown little interest in and that would doubtlessly drag out a legislative effort that many rank-and-file Democrats want to end quickly.

Popcorn Time! Al Franken vs. David Axlerod Over Healthcare

Sen. Al Franken ripped into White House senior adviser David Axelrod this week during a tense, closed-door session with Senate Democrats. Five sources who were in the room tell POLITICO that Franken criticized Axelrod for the administration’s failure to provide clarity or direction on health care and the other big bills it wants Congress to enact. The sources said Franken was the most outspoken senator in the meeting, which followed President Barack Obama’s question-and-answer session with Senate Democrats at the Newseum on Wednesday. But they also said the Minnesotan wasn’t the only angry Democrat in the room. “There was a lot of frustration in there,” said a Democratic senator who declined to be identified. “People were hot,” another Democratic senator said.

why did the Democratic Governor and the Democratic leaders of the Senate allow Senator Brown his wish? After all, there are some votes coming up where that 60th vote will be needed. One has to wonder: what gives? I think Clifton, over at Another Black Conservative, has come up with an interesting theory: If I had to guess, I would say Reid is desperate for another excuse as to why he cannot pass healthcare reform. Despite all the chatter and tough talk, healthcare reform is dead, dead, dead. It died a least a week before the Scott Brown victory. When the House Democrats, who all face re-election this year, saw what was happening in Massachusetts they dropped support for healthcare reform. All this stuff you hear now about working on healthcare is just noise designed to let their base down softly, because the truth would set their base on fire. Can you imagine what would happen on the left if it were known that the Democrats got ...
