POPSYellowcake Not 'A Vindication' of Bush's WMD Claims It should be pointed out (as I've been forced to several times around the web) that yellowcake is not WMD. In fact, it's not even refined. The piece goes on: But this particular stock of uranium was not recently discovered — and it was no secret. It had been stored in sealed containers, since before the first Gulf War, according to the AP. Saddam Hussein was forced to allow United Nations inspectors into Iraq in 1991, as part of the cease-fire that ended the first Gulf War. The U.N. Security Council's agreement required Hussein to dismantle Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, in exchange for lifting the 1990 economic sanctions imposed on Iraq. The inspectors monitored Iraq's disarmament, and later guarded this uranium. More recently, U.S. and Iraqi forces have been guarding it, since Iraqis looted the site after Hussein’s fall from power.

POPSI click, therefore I am: Toward outsourcing our identity There are two complementary tendencies on the Net: one which encourages keeping multiple personalities, and the other which tends to gather them in a central personality. For instance, a survey said that most people on Twitter use more than one account and a site lets users create profiles for the different facets of their personality. We can set different email addresses (sometimes called “identities”) in email programs. Other tendencies are toward reunification, as in OpenID, a “way to use a single digital identity across the Internet.” Furthermore, many social sites we could be part of, like BlogCatalog and MyBloglog will show the identity we choose to when we visit blogs, leaving a trace of our path.

POPSCracked Magazine's 25 Historical Events (As Depicted by 5 Year Olds) OK, I am dating myself here but I remember Cracked Magazine as well as Mad, Crazy, Car-toons, and Plop from when I was a kid. Eventually all that was left on the magazine racks were Mad. I never even thought they may have switched to an online E-Zine or that they would be open to subscriber participation! Personally, I always thought Cracked was better than Mad any day!

POPSIs Google Buying Digg? Digg would be a great buy -- but I'm skeptical of Rose & crew accepting a price too far "below $200 million." They've got a huge site with an insanely dedicated audience.

POPSAncient cave found under church Half a dozen sources (including Fox News) used this news story with the headline "First Church In The World". Of course, they also omitted archaeologist Thomas Parker's words: "It's quite possible that there was a cave with earlier occupation which was later converted to Christian use. But to make the jump that this was actually used by Christians fleeing Jerusalem in the 1st century A.D. seems like a stretch to me."
