POPSCrowds Mob White House, Time Square, Chicago, MLK's Church, Streets
When I saw the TV spot of a mob surrounding a car on the street I had the thought/memory of some riot, the mob shaking the car, overturning it, pulling out the driver and beating them (the past). What was going on? -- The woman in the car came upon the cheering crowd, her own joy exploded, she stopped the car, got out, started singing -- the crowd gathered around her and all sang on the street. Thousand spontaneously streamed to the White House, waved flags, pressed against the gates and lustily chanted: "Yes, we can! Yes, we can!" NOBODY alive has every seen anything like this. MLK's church in Georgia - thousands gathered inside and when the news of victory was announced a chanting a roar went up so strong is could have blown off the roof. Sort of like a World Cup Victory Celebration --- except that is was 4828 kilometers long. (or something like that) P.S. This slideshow on this page, 38 pics, is my favorite. Jubilation is what it was, and I've never used that wo

POPSObama Victory - Most Shown Headline Photo
I actually had to hunt for it (for a whole 7 minutes) on the Internet, but one TV news report showed the Headlines from newspapers around the country and this was the photo on most of them. Interesting. Good slide show on this page, including lots of the Main Man surrounded by flags and massive crowds and celebration on all sides. A lot of First Families have been somewhat stiff and scripted or set up for phony poses. But when Michelle led her children out onto the stage is was real: She wanted them to see and get a sense of who their Dad now was ('cause he's just a "Dad," to them) And when she smiled it was a real smile. And when she and Obama hugged it was a real hug and when she looked at him in some amazement and admiration it was real amazement and admiration. And the kids happiness with them and their love of the kids also real. It was wonderful to see. And that dress! -- sort of unusual but certainly not shy Now we'' be watching them for eight years. I hope

POPSObama's Grandmother Dies, on Eve of Election.
He called her a "quiet hero," like a million other quiet heros in our nation: not looking for the spotlight, going to work everyday, raising a family. His grandmother raised him. Without them he was pratically an orphan. He's noted for being a cool, unflappable man, but one or two tears had to fall in his last scheduled campaign event on the eve of the election. Some folks see a "heavy duty karma," here - things serious like in a Shakespeare tragedy: She did her job and now it was time for her to go; she didn't need to see the victory; what she saw was enough for her. Now, all his past is practically wiped away. All that 'stage of life,' over. At the end of today he begins a whole new life, as President of the United States of America. In Roman times when a big hero can home to worshiping crowds there was a servant assigned to stand behind him, whispering: "This will not last." On a day that should have been most joyful, he was his with great emotional loss: Yes...nothin

POPSUSA Early Voting Largest Ever; Waiting Time Long.
More than half of the people in some states have already voted, more than ever, way more Democrats. But: Six hours waiting in line to vote? Is this the same in EU? It's absurd. The USA put a man on the moon 40 years ago; now has a robot or two driving around Mars -- and we have an election process and election machines and election laws from the Dark Ages! Yet...the massive crowds wait in line, 4-5-6 hours (two hours considered good). The election laws vary state by state; some good, some terrible. At least now lots of states realize they have to do better. In my state I was able to early vote by mail -- no line at all; what could be easier; the paper ballot they optically scanned. We can even register to vote on the Internet. In Nevada they put voting centers in supermarkets and shopping malls - pretty cool ideas. Some folks (Republicans, mainly) want to slow down and hinder voting and prevent voting by minorities and poor). Others (Democrats) want to make vo

POPSHow Long to Shed the Illusion? <"A creature of universities and churches and nonprofit institutions, the Illinois senator, with the blessing and acquiescence of his upscale supporters, has glided past these hard distinctions. On the face of it, it must be surmised that his affluent devotees are ready to foot the bill for the new order, or are convinced that after victory the old ways will endure, and that Mr. Obama will govern from the center. It was no accident that the white working class was the last segment of the population to sign up for the Obama journey. Their hesitancy was not about race. They were men and women of practicality; they distrusted oratory, they could see through the falseness of the solidarity offered by this campaign.">

POPSKarl Marx Obama sez Take the Day off Work That's really funny. The reason this communist has such huge crowds, is most of his supporters do not work. And bosses, if any of your employees take the day off, dock them a day's pay. After all - they are going to tax you out of business then redistribute your wealth to the welfare blacks. Better yet, get a jump on them. Fire them now.
