Pakistani tribesmen threaten to block US supplies to Afghanistan
tommy2balmy
by tommy2balmy  9-17-2008
Elders have withdrawn demand for Pakistani army to withdraw from region and are ready to co-operate against the US. Another accomplishment for President Bush, uniting Pakistan. Who would have thought it possible? Of course the fact that they have nuclear weapons and are uniting in opposition to our attacks is not good news.

Pakistan Orders Troops to Fire Back Against US Insurgents
blueridge
by blueridge  9-16-2008
Pakistan finally reclaims it sovereignty and orders its troops to fire back if US forces or drones violate their border again and attack on their soil (usually killing more civilians than combatants). This is the only way to change Bush policy and now forces Bush (and even Obama who says he would do same) to reconsider the consequences of such actions. Multi-million dollar attacks using Predator drones is cowardly warfare and a clever way to hit and run while never proving who exactly was being targetted and committing gross negligence in regard to innocent civilians. This is also contrary to the principles of Just War which requires solid ID, direct confrontation where opportunity to surrender is offered, and separating civilians from combatants during any attack, instead of this "just kill them all" policy called "scorched earth". There also is no way to identify (after missiles or bombs strike) who the persons really are, or justification to attack.

Angry Afghan President: Will No Longer Tolerate Cross-Border Attacks.
merrie
by merrie  6-15-2008
Analysts said they doubt military action by Afghanistan is imminent, but Pakistan's prime minister said the threat "will not be taken well." A Taliban spokesman warned that the Afghan army would be defeated by thousands of armed tribesman. Speaking on the grounds of his fortified presidential palace, Karzai told a news conference that Afghanistan has the right to self defense, and because militants cross over from Pakistan "to come and kill Afghan and kill coalition troops, it exactly gives us the right to do the same." Then, Karzai warned Pakistan-based Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud that Afghan forces would target him on his home turf. Mehsud has been accused in last year's assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. "Baitullah Mehsud should know that we will go after him now and hit him in his house," Karzai said. "And the other fellow, (Taliban leader) Mullah Omar of Pakistan, should know the same," Karzai continued.

Karzai Says He'll Send Troops to Pakistan
Yassin_M
by Yassin_M  6-15-2008
Karzai said in recent fighting in the Garmser district of Helmand province - where hundreds of U.S. Marines have been battling insurgents the last two months - that most of the fighters came from Pakistan. Karzai called Pakistan a "brother government" and "friend," but also urged it to "act against those elements that are making Pakistan and Afghanistan insecure." He said it was better for Afghan troops to be killed during offensive operations into Pakistan than in militant attacks in Afghanistan. His comments come as Pakistan is seeking peace deals with militants in its borders, including with Mehsud. The deals have come under criticism from U.S. officials, who warn they will simply give militants time to regroup and intensify attacks inside Afghanistan. But Pakistan insists it's not negotiating with "terrorists," rather militants willing to lay down their arms. Karzai is talkative and good for nothing

Pentagon Propagandist General Calls for US to Sponsor Terrorism Against Iran
ratilfar
by ratilfar  5-15-2008
"The tactic that McInerney advocates of using Iranian opposition terrorist groups to carry out acts of terrorism inside Iran is not new, nor far-fetched. A little digging turned up numerous articles alleging that the pentagon had already been using the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) and other groups in cross-border operations into Iran, at least until shortly after Sec Gates took over (Some news reports of attacks in Iran here, here, here, here, here. Iranian news video here)." Of course is not wrong if "we" do it, now is it?

Kurds promise response to Turkish strike
pokkets
by pokkets  11-3-2007
The PKK, Turkey, Iraq, and the U.S. are all fighting for the same area in the 'relatively peaceful' north. Why? to prevent the other three gain a tactical advantage over the others U.S. officials fear this could 'destabilize' one of the few areas that has not been destabilized by the invasion. They are concerned about the fact that they do not have the capacity to order Turkey and the PKK to act is a manner that is likely to assist the U.S. achieve their objectives. The Iraqi government is now beginning to realize that U.S. interests are not those of the Iraqi people. If they were, more Iraqi civilians would be alive today, as opposed to being co-lateral damage.

U.S. and Israel Supporting Terrorists in Middle East
blueridge
by blueridge  10-30-2007
The article also mentions this: "Like Turkey, **Iran also** has faced cross-border attacks by Kurdish rebels and has shelled targets inside Iraq in response." Gee, I wonder who might be helping those Kurdish rebels in cross-border attacks against Iran? (Answer: Special forces and IDF dressed as Arabs). Now you know why Turkey was told not to do this, because it shows that some of Iran's involvement in Iraq is legitimate for exactly the same reason, i.e. self-defense. No doubt, the U.S. is helping terrorists attacking Iran from inside Iraq, hoping this will provoke Iran into confrontation with U.S., to justify war.

Turkish incursion threatens only part of Iraq still at peace
ratilfar
by ratilfar  10-12-2007
From the article: The impact on the region of a Turkish attack, if it takes place, will depend on the extent of the intervention. If it is confined to the mountains on the frontier, where there are only a few villages, then the KRG would be unlikely to respond. Turkish incursions by 35,000 to 50,000 troops in 1995 and 1997 failed to achieve anything. But if Turkish forces advance into important towns and cities then Kurdish troops would be bound to respond. The KRG will also want to prevent a precedent being established whereby the Turkish army can cross the Turkish-Iraq frontier at will. Turkey has been alarmed to see the development of an effectively independent Kurdish state in northern Iraq and an Iraqi government in Baghdad in which the Kurds play a leading role. It is particularly anxious about the referendum which might lead to the oil province of Kirkuk joining the KRG under a poll which was promised under the constitution for the end of 2007 but may now be delayed."
