POPSJust give us the money... The thugs want the money but don't want to reform. These elites making noise are the ones who take bundles of American aid, eat the funds in corruption, still spout anti-American rhetoric, and support the Taliban while suppressing democracy and human rights of smaller nations like the Sindhis. Let's hope President Obama sticks to his guns and follows through with trying to enforce it. He may have to then finally give up this strategy and face the fact that he will not get honest cooperation out of Pakistan and its brutal, fanatic and dangerous military.

POPSOn ableist language More: If you think you should use a word because no other has the same impact, well, you’re right about the impact. Your usage has such an impact because it draws its power from disability=bad. You are forming a powerful sentence from disablism, our deep-set pain. It’s so much easier and better to just change your words. If you still insist on such usage, that’s lazy and cruel. If you’re not sure if your use of a word is offensive, err on the side of caution. Another message to take away is this. 1. If you are calling yourself progressive 2. and you are harming people with disabilities 3. you are not, in fact, progressive.

POPSWhy inclusionary language matters More: You can believe with all your heart that sexism is terrible and evil, but when you call a woman a bitch, it kind of undermines your point. You can think that people with disabilities are oppressed and marginalized by society, and that this is wrong, but when you call something “lame,” you’re saying that you think it’s ok to continue oppressing people with disabilities. When you say that someone should “step up,” you are unconsciously erasing everyone in the population who cannot step, like wheelchair users and people who are bedbound. When you refer to someone or something as “insane” or “crazy,” you are using mental illness as a slur. So stop it. Stop using exclusionary language. Start including people. And stop trying to defend it. If you’re too lazy to find a better word or phrase to use, that’s your problem, not society’s.

POPSWH Response to More Troop Request
This incomplete and unconfirmed story, aka "leak," hints that the President may not go along with the Pentagon request for more troops in Afghanistan. Although, that's still just a "leak," right now and there has been no official request for more troops. It seems we're once again in a "battle of the leaks," -- people sending out anonymous ideas and checking out the responses. The rabid right-wing will make up lies and jump on everything to smear Obama...and there are some landmine issues that could cripple any president: 1. Backing down to the Russians....a big American no-no...and that's now claimed, plus: 2. Not supporting troops/war -- 3. Not offering special deals and blind, uncritical support for Israel. Yet, the President appears to be keeping his head straight, despite the rabid right -- defeating Al-Qaeda makes sense, at least. Nation building and long term in Afghanistan....where did that idea come from? Or War in Iraq? -- build on lies. War in Iran?

POPSIsrael 'will attack Iran this year' Iran and the major world power are to start talks on the stand off over its nuclear programme, which stands in violation of United Nations resolutions, on Oct 1. Mr Obama's offer to talk to Iran without pre-conditions has made Israel nervous that Tehran will use detente as a cover to complete its drive for an atom bomb. "If Iran gained the bomb it would trigger a regional arms race with Saudi and Egypt quickly obtaining weapons," he said. "We would be living next to three Pakistans."

POPSStunted outlook on neglect of kids " What can the United States do? The State Department each year publishes heavily researched reports on human rights, drug trafficking, religious freedom and human trafficking. All of these are important topics. But is any of them as critical as saving a billion children from life as a mental cripple? Why not a new report, on human nutrition, with appropriate penalties for the nations that neglect their children?"

POPSIsrael Claims UN's IAEA Withholding Info
Israel, which has hundreds of secret illegal nukes and god knows what weapons of mass destruction...and has refused to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty...now accused the UN of withhold info and accused Iran of not abiding by "proper," nuclear policies. And it wants the USA and the West to go to war about this and/or cripple the Iranian economy. What's wrong with this picture? -- It's the opposite of the truth. The truth is Israel's secret and illegal nuclear weapons. But we're suppose to go to war because of empty claims of Iran's alleged "desire," for nuclear weapons. Israel is in no position to make such accusations or demand more wars. It's the one that should open it nuclear weapons programs to UN inspection (like Iran does). Supporting Israel is support collective punishment, apartheid, policies of genocide towards the Palestinians. It's best the worst mistake in USA modern history and in the EU, too. Israel is the active and real threat to world peace

POPSPretenses for ME Peace Peak Again Middle East pretenses for peace are heating up again. The Israeli idea appears to be that they will not change their policy on expanding settlements, declare Jerusalem to be all theirs and it's sole capital, and want to see the USA and EU increase sanctions on Iran to the extent of crippling it's economy. !?

POPSItaly Cracks Down On Raiders Of Lost Art The 2,500-year-old Euphronios vase, which depicts a battle scene from the Trojan War, was dug up and illegally taken out of Italy in the 1970s. POPSRead Why Death Penalty Cases Can Be So Difficult Justice for the accused (family and friends of the accused) and for the victim's family and friends is never easy. Read about one such case and why Ohio should probably just end the death sentance or at least order a moratorium and spend the time it needs to figure out how to make the system more just for all concerned.

POPSPut a Lid On Cap-and-Tax This bill does not address the international nature of climate change. For example, even if the United States completely eliminated carbon emissions, global levels would still rise because developing countries' emissions are rapidly growing. Increasing our domestic energy prices would put U.S. businesses at a disadvantage. In fact, many American jobs would likely be shipped overseas where energy is cheaper and environmental restrictions are more lax. Does anyone think this would be a good idea in the midst of the worst recession since the Great Depression? Additionally, ACES would impose tariffs on products produced by other countries that don't impose similar curbs on greenhouse gas emissions. This would violate our international trade obligations and could incite a devastating trade war that would cripple American exporters.

POPSOPEN LETTER TO CONGRESS: YOU ARE BEING DECEIVED ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING
The facts are: The sky is not falling; the Earth has been cooling for ten years, without help. The present cooling was NOT predicted by the alarmists' computer models, and has come as an embarrassment to them. The finest meteorologists in the world cannot predict the weather two weeks in advance, let alone the climate for the rest of the century. Can Al Gore? Can John Holdren? We are flooded with claims that the evidence is clear, that the debate is closed, that we must act immediately, etc, but in fact THERE IS NO SUCH EVIDENCE; IT DOESN'T EXIST. The proposed legislation would cripple the US economy, putting us at a disadvantage compared to our competitors. For such drastic action, it is only prudent to demand genuine proof that it is needed, not guesswork, and not false claims about the state of the science. DEMAND PROOF, NOT CONSENSUS Many alarmists are profiting from their activism. There are billions of dollars floating around for the taking, and being taken.

POPSHow To Save The Newspaper, Vol. XII: Outlaw Linking Dumb idea. Most people put copyrighted material on the web so that others WILL link to it. It's the only way for others to know it is out there. Newspapers need to give us something interesting to read - then it will be worth buying them.

POPS1964: Malcolm X on Zionism
"The ever-scheming European imperialists wisely placed Israel where she could geographically divide the Arab world, infiltrate and sow the seed of dissension among African leaders and also divide the Africans against the Asians. Zionist Israel's occupation of Arab Palestine has forced the Arab world to waste billions of precious dollars on armaments, making it impossible for these newly independent Arab nations to concentrate on strengthening the economies of their countries and elevate the living standard of their people. And the continued low standard of living in the Arab world has been skilfully used by the Zionist propagandists to make it appear to the Africans that the Arab leaders are not intellectually or technically qualified to lift the living standard of their people ... thus, indirectly "educing" Africans to turn away from the Arabs and towards the Israelis for teachers and technical assistance. "They cripple the bird's wing, and then condemn it for not flying as f

POPSSwine Flu and Martial Law Prior to this, in May of 2007, the U.S. military had the foresight to “plan for a possible avian flu pandemic that could kill as many as three million people in the United States in as little as six weeks,” according to Yahoo News. Guidelines and “planning assumptions for US military services and combatant commands” were published in a document entitled “Implementation Plan for Pandemic Influenza.”
