About the "Al Qaeda" Message to Obama, Too Convenient
blueridge
by blueridge  11-21-2008
It was timely propaganda, but for who? CLG traces the timeline news reports of al-Zawahiri which demonstrates that the new "audio message" (faithfully shown by the MSM in Video format to American audience) should be held in skepticism since the death of "No. 2 Al Qaeda" leader has been reported previously, and the timeliness of these reports fits too well with neocon propaganda purposes, more than the alleged (and invisible) terrorists which billion-dollar military and spy agencies are unable to find. To do this subject justice go to the source of the clip to see the full reports and commentary laid out.

Blackwater Busted, Prince Has "Compliance Challenges"
blueridge
by blueridge  11-14-2008    8
Makes one smile. The arrogant Prince of Blackwater just got nailed with a big fine from the same corrupt Federal government they contracted with. The "war on terrorism" is so profitable. What happened to all the hardware that ended up on the black market in Iraq? (Someone knows). "Compliance challenges", he says. More like rogue operations. This is the same company that shoots whoever is in the area and quickly leaves, whose crimes even U.S. military personnel have reported. Dirty mercenaries are never held accountable for war crimes because they are independent contractors. This is the least the State Dept has on them, just the tip of the proverbial ice berg. Iraq wants to try them there.

Obama's Instant Plans to Overthrow Bush Orders
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  11-10-2008    11
One of Bush's methods of shredding the American Constitution was to abuse the power of what's called: "Executive Orders." Congress would pass some piece of legislation and Bush, in secret, would write a little memo saying he wasn't going to obey that law, or parts of that law. This is not how 'Executive Orders,' were suppose to work. Obama's team has spotted 200 of such abusive Executive Orders that Obama can instantly delete -- since Bush wrote these things all on his own Obama will delete them all on his own. Targeted for instant deletion: 1. Prohibition on stem cell research 2. Limits to foreign aid bases on another nations' contraceptive or abortion policies. 3. Approval of oil drilling in sensitive areas. 4. Approval of torture. 5. Various Bush directives that denied climate change And will close down Guantanamo Bay prison and will end policies of indefinite detention and denial of habitus corpus. & 190 other things. Just the beginning of why he deserved

McCain Transition Chief Aided Saddam in Lobbying Effort
zizzy
by zizzy  10-14-2008    1
His dealings on behalf of the deceased Iraqi leader stand in stark contrast to the views his current employer held at the time. John McCain strongly supported the 1991 military action against Iraq, and as recently as Sunday described Saddam Hussein as a one-time menace to the region who had "stated categorically that he would acquire weapons of mass destruction, and he would use them wherever he could."

Weather Underground: Honoring the Cops They Killed
dl211
by dl211  10-14-2008    6
Ayers, who has long held a position as a college professor in Chicago, has a surprisingly nefarious past. He happens to be the founder of a domestic terrorist group called the Weather Underground, which he has written about extensively in his own memoir, Fugitive Days: A Memoir. The Weather Underground was responsible for bombing several government targets throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, including the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon, and a building used by the New York City Police Department. To finance their domestic terrorism activities the group also conducted “traditional” robberies, which occasionally led to murder. What you don’t usually hear in modern-day news coverage of the group, is that three of those murders were of police officers killed in the line of duty.

"Promising reform to angry legislators, the Maryland police are scrambling not so much to apologize as to notify the 53 that they were falsely deemed terrorists and can inspect their files before the files are purged. The databases were originally intended for anti-drug intelligence, but were misused, officials explained, by zealous, “technologically challenged” commanders. Constitutionally challenged, as well."

Ayers and Obama
oscarrob
by oscarrob  10-6-2008    1
The fact that they are now calling Obama a terrorist because of this is outrageous, even given all the facts. Assume that Obama knew Ayers history, so what? Are you going to resign in protest from a charitable board, or refuse to be recruited because 30 years ago the guy recruiting you was a bomber protesting the Vietnam War, gave himself up to the FBI, who (shock and dismay) blew the intelligence so they had no case. That makes you a terrorist? I must be a hardened criminal because I worked on a loading dock once with a guy who I knew was a loan shark. John McCain consorted with financial criminals who stole money from poor retirees who lost everything in the S&L crisis, he must be a criminal too and a thief and someone who would let retirees pensions disappear on purpose. Actually he's also a racist because he accepted an endorsement from a pastor who was know as a racist. No wait, he's a rampant liberal because he consorted and even sposored legislation with Ted Kennedy.

UK Expands Total Citizen Surveillance
blueridge
by blueridge  9-16-2008    1
The US tends to follow what the UK implements, and under the pretense of a "war on terrorism" the US has been following suit with little lag time. From REAL ID to the security merchandisers total camera surveillance in every state and municipality this fascism is being erected where "free citizens" are tagged, tracked, recorded, and watched like criminal suspects and the "democratic government" separates itself from and above the people. The article details yet even more: Local authorities have since adapted their own CCTV systems to capture licence plates on behalf of police, massively expanding the network of available cameras. Mobile cameras have been installed in patrol cars and unmarked vehicles parked by the side of roads. Police helicopters have been equipped with infrared cameras that can read licence plates from 610 metres (2,000ft).

(cont.)Four Democratic senators - with the lamentable absence of their leader, Harry Reid - also have reminded the attorney general of his oath to protect the Constitution. Russ Feingold, Richard Durbin, Edward Kennedy and Sheldon Whitehouse warn not only Mukasey but also the rest of us that the new rules "might permit an innocent American to be subjected to such intrusive surveillance based in part on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, or on protected First Amendment activities." As Lara Jakes Jordan of The Associated Press (Aug. 18) pointed out: "The new policy, law enforcement officials said, would let agents open preliminary terrorism investigations after mining public records and intelligence (including tips from informants) to build a profile of traits that, taken together, were deemed suspicious." There would be no evidence of criminal activity.

The Shadow of Ryazan: Putin’s Government
merrie
by merrie  8-11-2008    1
In explaining his support for the American-led antiterrorist coalition after Sept. 11, 2001, Putin said that Russia had also been a victim of terrorism. This experience, however, looks rather different if the bombings in September, 1999 were carried out by the Russian government as part of an effort to preserve the power and wealth of a criminal oligarchy. The strongest indication that elements of the Russian government were responsible for the bombings, however, was the history of the supposed training exercise in Ryazan. In that incident, the FSB was forced to admit that they had put a bomb in the basement of a civilian apartment building because they were caught in the act. The incident began on the night of September 22, six days after the bombing of Volgodonsk, when police answering a call reporting suspicious activity discovered a bomb in the basement of a building. Experts arriving at the scene found that the bomb tested positive for hexogen. Read full article

Apparent Suicide In Anthrax Case
merrie
by merrie  8-1-2008
Bruce E. Ivins, a scientist who helped the FBI investigate the 2001 mail attacks, was about to face charges. The death -- without any mention of suicide -- was announced to Ivins' colleagues at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, or USAMRIID, through a staffwide e-mail. The anthrax mailings killed five people, crippled national mail service, shut down a Senate office building and spread fear of further terrorism after the Sept. 11 attacks. The extraordinary turn of events followed the government's payment in June of a settlement valued at $5.82 million to a former government scientist, Steven J. Hatfill, who was long targeted as the FBI's chief suspect despite a lack of any evidence that he had ever possessed anthrax. Ivins, employed as a civilian at Ft. Detrick, earlier had attracted the attention of Army officials because of anthrax contaminations that Ivins failed to report for five months.

U.S. Terrorism Watch Tops 1 Million

This over-the-top dragnet has included people like Sen. Kennedy, Kat Stevens, and recently a former federal prosecutor! 50,000 individuals are included on the Transportation Security Administration "no-fly" or "selectee" lists that subject them to travel bans, arrest or additional screening. The Justice Department's former top criminal prosecutor says the government's terror watch list likely has caused thousands of innocent Americans to be questioned, searched or otherwise hassled. Former Assistant Attorney General Jim Robinson would know: he's one of them. More than 30,000 airline passengers had asked the Homeland Security Department to clear their names from the list as of October 2006.

Michael Savage Wants to "Hang" JAG Officers
cptenaud
by cptenaud  6-22-2008    4
This utter bullshit because it's officers like Lt. Cmdr. William C. Kuebler, "a self-described born-again Christian and conservative who has 'never voted for a Democrat'" who have the courage to challenge these kangaroo courts "designed to get criminal convictions" with "no real evidence," or the the fact that military prosecutors "launder evidence derived from torture." I suppose Savage also wants Lt. Cmdr. Charles D. Swift hanged. As the NYT reports, Swift helped "take the case of Salim Hamdan, a former driver for Osama bin Laden, to the Supreme Court. The ruling in 2006 invalidated the Bush administration's first military commission system." Lt. Col. Yvonne Bradley needs execution too, I suppose, for defending a "British resident accused of plotting with al-Qaida to bomb apartment buildings in the United States." Marine Corps Maj. Michael D. Mori defended Australian David Hicks an accused al-Qaeda trainee.

Obama : "Bin Laden must not be a martyr"
Yassin_M
by Yassin_M  6-18-2008    1
"What would be important would be for us to do it in a way that allows the entire world to understand the murderous acts that he's engaged in and not to make him into a martyr, and to assure that the United States government is abiding by basic conventions that would strengthen our hand in the broader battle against terrorism," Obama said. Obama was questioned about bin Laden after he met with a new team of national security advisers. The meeting came after rival John McCain's campaign said Obama had a pre-9/11 mind-set for promoting criminal trials for terrorists. "I refuse to be lectured on national security by people who are responsible for the most disastrous set of foreign policy decisions in the recent history of the United States," Obama said in opening remarks that in part referred to the Iraq war.
