POPSOBAMA DEFENDS 'CREATIONIST PSYCHO BITCH' REMARK "Now that doesn't mean I'm comparing Governor Palin to a pig. What I am saying is that if it's a straight choice between Governor Palin and a pig, I'm fucking the pig. "If I then went on to say that I'd rather fuck a dead pig than Governor Palin, that should not be construed in any way as a personal attack." Senator Obama refused to apologise to the Governor, insisting it would take too long to translate the words into her 'retarded hillbilly language'.

POPSCreationist Instruction The religious wackos never stop trying. And they come from all strata of society from snake handling loonies to Governors of Alaska.

POPSWe're all going to be rich! Afterwards, they can accept the check from Mr Oktar, run down to the local bank and cash it, and use one trillion dollars to resolve the current financial crisis, seven trillion can be sunk immediately into the American educational system, and they can send the change left over to me as a reward for coming up with this brilliant plan.

POPSWhere Sara Ruled Edwards said she believes, as does Palin, that creationism ought to be taught in schools along with evolution, and that Barack Obama must be stopped. And Edwards assured me that humans have nothing to do with climate change, a position her pal Sarah used to share but has backed away from in recent weeks, saying that "some of man's activities" are "potentially causing some of the changes in the climate right now." Munger, who writes the Progressive Alaska blog, told me Palin is not just a creationist, but a "young Earth" creationist who believes that man and dinosaurs once shared the planet, and that the world will end in her lifetime. Palin-tology, you might call it. Can anyone feel good about supporting a vice presidential candidate who ruled a town with worse municipal planning than we have in Los Angeles?"

POPSWag the Pit Bull Avoid the hard questions, confuse and confound the enemy, and always change the discussion and the topic. The Rovian leaders within the McCain camp know how bad the future is, and this bowing to the ultra-religious-dominionist Cabal is a brilliant, timely, calculated move. On one hand, it throws those insane nuts a handful of crumbs. When she is replaced, (and rest assured, she will be), they will have been pacified. On the other hand, if she somehow manages to survive what is looking more and more like a serious vetting by serious investigators, she pretty much locks up the fundie vote for McCain. Despite being a Creationist nutcase herself. Place your bets: http://www.intrade.net/ I personally place the odds are against her being replaced, maybe she will, i have my doubts, however I do think there are stronger odds that Biden will be, by Hillary. I may be wrong, just my personal bet.

POPSCreationist Lashes Out Against Spore More interesting than the blog itself, which is pretty much what you'd expect from a creationist writing about a game based on evolution, are the hundreds of comments, most of which are defending Spore. Apparently this guy touched a nerve.

POPSMark Morford on the GOP, Palin More of this great column: To be sure, it's moments like these that make it difficult not to take some delight, not to sit back and feel the ironic righteousness melt over us like hot Cheez-Whiz over an Alaskan mooseburger. After all, Sarah Palin is anti-choice, pro-abstinence, anti sex-ed, religiously fundamentalist, a creationist, about as friendly to feminism and women's reproductive rights as John McCain is to his beloved "gooks." But here's the saddest part of all: Governor Palin knew. She absolutely had to realize that her daughter's unfortunate condition would come to light when McCain offered her this bizarre gig. To which we can only say: Way to shove your own daughter under the wheels of the GOP Machine, Governor Palin. Ultimate sacrifice indeed.

POPSHail Mary! By her social agenda alone she should scare the pants off any thinking voter. By her own words, an avowed Creationist, anti-science fundamentalist, and she denies global warming is man-made. I didn't know that GWB had a sister!

POPSReason #1 Why McCain Chose Palin #2 is the PUMAs, #1 is that she's Mike Huckabee in drag. Creationist, an extremist on abortion, she's exactly what the nuts wish McCain was. Exhibit A; James Dobson, head nut and a man who said he wouldn't vote for McCain " under any circumstances ," is now voting McCain:

POPSMcCain's VP Choice a Marginal Creationist To be fair, it doesn't appear that McCain's pick for VP is a dyed-in-the-wool creationist but she still believes in the absurd notion that biblical creationism has a ligitimate place in the science classroom. Her ridiculous "teach the controversy" stance is of course the back door ploy by religious fanatics to gain a toehold in public classrooms. I don't see them siding with Native American's to teach their particular creation myth.

POPSCreationist Shows His Stuff Here's a pretty typical tirade by a fundamentalist Creationist that pretty much touches on all the points that Creationists get wrong all the time. About the only point he makes is that he's pretty ignorant about science and adheres to the talking points of the conservative right. My question is how many of these proselytizers will have to be proven wrong before they're eventually shamed into admitting that they've been lied to. The sad part is that many certainly have children who are also subjected to these ignorant views thus the ignorance is allowed to be passed along generational lines.

POPSGathering of the Loonies And remember, you're promised a "dazzling array of world class speakers"!!! Such as Ken Ham, the creator of the Creationist Museum in Kentucky. I suggest anyone within a 100 mile radius of this event stock up on flashlights and candles as you witness the advent of the Dark Ages.

POPSLunatic Logic Ken Ham is one crazy dude. This intellectually stunted founder of the Creationist Museum in Kentucky evidently is regarded as a person of value by the deciders at the Pentagon who choose who is to officiate at these prayer meetings. The implications are disturbing.

POPSScientific Framing - Do We Need It? Recently there's been a controversy in the scientific community concerning scientific framing. That's framing in the sense of presenting views and facts in such a way that they appeal to a larger percentage of the population. We hear this mostly in the political realm but it applies equally in the scientific realm particularly where science and politics intersect. Is it the right thing to do? Is it too Orwellian?

POPSTexas Education is Doomed I really can't wait to escape this state. I went to school in a small, small town in SE Texas. The sheep-god was often brought up in pep-rallies and by the student christian council. Fortunately even these hicks kept god out of the classroom and I was grateful. Seems the current generation won't be so lucky. I doubt the next batch of great scientist will hail from Texas, that's for sure. And Who needs science when you can fairy-tale everything away with your magic sheep-god. Abracadabra Amen.

POPSCreationist Science Teachers Would administrators sanction teaching alchemy in place of chemistry? How about palmistry in lieu of statistics. How about replacing basic meteorology with the Thor hypothesis? These people have no business in a science class teaching science. Either move them so they do no harm or fire them.

POPSReligious Fantasy Contrary to what you might hear, the Ben Stein movie Expelled is not based on science. It is a propaganda film promoting the fake controversy over evolution. Admittedly, the majority of people in the US actually believe this nonsense. It seems that they are also willing to contribute to this BS so they can justify their creationist dogma. I'm beginning to hear the banjo track from "Deliverance" being hummed by the masses. Looks like the importation of scientists is going to be the new growth industry in the US soon.

POPSEvolution:24 myths and misconceptions It doesn't matter if people do not understand evolution "Survival of the fittest" justifies "everyone for themselves" Evolution is limitlessly creative Evolution cannot explain traits such as homosexuality Creationism provides a coherent alternative to evolution Creationist myths: Evolution must be wrong because the Bible is inerrant Accepting evolution undermines morality Evolutionary theory leads to racism and genocide Religion and evolution are incompatible Half a wing is no use to anyone Evolutionary science is not predictive Evolution cannot be disproved so is not science Evolution is just so unlikely to produce complex life forms Evolution is an entirely random process Mutations can only destroy information, not create it Darwin is the ultimate authority on evolution The bacterial flagellum is irreducibly complex Yet more creationist misconceptions Evolution violates the second law of thermodynamics

POPSLand of the FREE??? Intelligence Disallowed! Casting stupidity in stone? Now the POLICE are the thought police implementers too! Freedom of speech? Gone! Freedom of expression? Gone! Freedom of thought? Going soon, at a place near you. Maybe you did get the president that you truly deserve!!! Samson and the Temple revere in my brain. If there was a god, maybe justice would justify a world collapse with this refutation of the intelligence of mankind !!!

POPSFlorida, No Champion Of Education!
The good news is, Fla. is now allowed to use the word EVOLUTION to describe an educational study in science. The bad news is, the people, the ones with their heads forever stuck in a book of ancient writings, got their clueless compromise. They made the somewhat backwards educational system of Fla. (which they themselves are mostly responsible for) a bit more regressive by not allowing Evolution to stand alone. They, (Neanderthal school board members) said ... the "E" word is OK, as long as it's called "A THEORY" but these poor stymied script people, haven't a glimmer of what Scientific Theory means. They mindlessly believe it means speculation or inconclusive evidence. When in fact it means, an explanation based on observation, experimentation, and reasoning. Scientific theory is based on careful, rational examination of facts. A fact is something that is supported by unmistakable evidence. And who are the losers, WHY OUR CHILDREN OF COURSE. http://www.fsteiger.com/theory.html
