POPSAlternative energy needs help from Congress It's crazy to me to see the Bush administration and many members of Congress focusing on drilling for oil with such passion, yet you hear next to nothing from them about investing whatever resources are necessary to jump start a brand new industry that could significantly lessen our dependence on oil. Seeing what Russia is doing in Georgia should make the U.S. government's desire to aid the development of alternative sources such as solar and wind even that much greater.

POPSIs Hillary now suggesting Ass-ass-ination to win? I just heard this on MSNBC... What? This is so bad, it's way beyond the pale. It's an action that is so outside the limits of acceptable behavior, quite UNACCEPTABLE AND IMPROPER! Borrowing a line from The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens, dated 1837: “I look upon you, MADAM, as a WOMAN who has placed HERSELF beyond the pale of society, by YOUR most audacious, disgraceful, and abominable public conduct”. Hillary if you don't quit the race now, you will forever be seen as a soiled and besmirched politician within your beloved career of politics!

POPSpawn shops-a measure of distress "The upper middle class is feeling the crunch like never before," he said. "They're bringing in diamonds and gold to pay for margin calls on stocks. There's a feeling of despair. "These people are used to paying their bills, no problem. Now it's a whole new world. They're struggling. So maybe they won't go on vacation this summer, and they'll pawn jewelry to fix the roof."

POPSBacteria and Us when Fleming finally introduced penicillin in 1945, we went crazy with joy and began to slather everything with antibiotics, especially ourselves. Now we are paying our dues for that overreaction." Callahan points out that there are more bacteria by far in this world than any other living thing. "We are a minority on this planet, and we must learn how to work with the majority," he said.

POPSBio-fuels are a disaster We are wrecking our rainforests and depleting our agricultural land while fueling astronomic fuel increases to keep gas guzzling vehicles on the road - it's crazy!

POPSWho is Antonio Gramsci? - You Better Learn "His methods became in fact, the "field manual" for the many that followed. If you understand Gramsci, you will understand the "peculiar" and "weird" theories that are in vogue today. And you will understand that they are not the work of "weird crazy people" but rather of calculating and quite intelligent operatives." I IMPLORE all Right-thinking people to educate themselves on the ideas of Materialists. They are more prevalent now than they ever have been. You need to know what is behind the trends in HIgher Education, Political Correctness, Environmentalism, The thousand or so political action, interest groups that tear the fabric of America (ACLU, NEA, Think Progress, Moveon.org) and a thousand others. They are founded in Progressive/Marxist/Materialist views.

POPSDepressed? Blame consumerism. Really excellent argument linking consumerism in an advanced society to the rise in depression. Excerpted from "Surviving America's Depression Epidemic: How to Find Morale, Energy, and Community in a World Gone Crazy" (Chelsea Green, 2007) by Bruce E. Levine (via Mark Silver, Heart of Business)

POPSRealy? How much will it take to get you to CONSIDER it as a possibility Yes, I know...I'm crazy, a moon bat, a wing nut, a paranoid delusional, hell maybe I'm even psychotic...but if I am, why are they passing the laws? Why has habeas Corpus been done away with? Why can the Government now surveil American Citizens without a court order? Why has the 4th Amendment been (for all practical purposes) been suspended? You remember it? Amendment IV (the Fourth Amendment) to the United States Constitution is one of the provisions included in the Bill of Rights. The Amendment guards against unreasonable searches and seizures, and was originally designed as a response to the controversial writs of assistance (a type of general search warrant), which were a significant factor behind the American Revolution.

POPSFatal massacre at Finnish highschool I read the killer's manifest from the internet yesterday. I gotta say in some level I agree with him about some issues of this world and society but his ways to "solve" those things were totally wrong. I'm deeply sorry for those people who died and their families. It is said "noone could imagine this to happen" . That is bullshit! This guy had shouted these things everywhere and anyone could see he's out of his mind. If "normal" teenager acts in this way he did MAYBY PEOPLE SHOULD NOTICE IT! For God sake everyone is so ignorant these days. Do you have to kill people before anyone gives a s*it about what you say. That's so crazy.

POPSThe Exciting World of South Korean Protests While the majority of protests are probably pretty standard affairs involving marching, shouting, and possibly some violent clashes between protesters and police, there are also some far more interesting protests going on.

POPSReality Lord of the Flies Drop a bunch of kids in an abandoned town and see if they get crazy enough to make some must-see TV. Yes, it's exploitative and a frightening snapshot of our voyeuristic society, but how can you not watch this?

POPSSurrounded by Jerks? Deal with It! Certain mortals have the power to sink hearts and sour moods with lightning speed. The hysterical colleague. The meddlesome neighbor. The crazy in-law. The explosive boss. A mélange of cantankerous individuals...

POPSTop 10 Parent Hacks of 2006 I really liked No. 2. Sharpie your cell phone number on your kid's belly "When we go to crazy places like amusement parks and fairs, we just use a Sharpie and write on the kids' stomachs "My mom's cell # is...." The kids are all drilled on what to do if they get lost, and we have photos of them at Disneyland and everywhere else, flashing their bellies with the emergency plan. "
