POPSLovelock---The Dark Side of Climate Change: It's Already Too Late Please read the article--it might inform you as to the real seriousness of human civilization being destroyed. My instincts and well- informed brain tell meDr. Lovelock is right....he's been watching this from the beginning,,, After reading his book, "Revenge of Gaia", I wondered how people would react--so far, we have foot-draggin-weak-assed legislation, some watered down non-binding crap from the G-8 countries----it's already too late for PEOPLE to save our selves from a huge die off as Gaia shrugs off the human virus. By the end of this century we may lose several billion of the human species and unfortunately many other flora and fauna due to human greed and ignorance. SERIOUSLY-- we are fuckin' doomed, folks. Read all about it.

POPS“Russ Carnahan voted to … close us and other … small business”
David McArthur, vice president of the 52-year-old family operation, a Gateway City institution, is one of a growing number of business owners and taxpayers nationwide who are mobilizing against the so-called cap-and-trade bill . . . "We make (our product) with electricity, we bake it with gas, we refrigerate and freeze it with electricity and we distribute it with gas and oil," said McArthur, who said he worries that high prices could cost his company up to $15,000 a year in an industry with a very tight margin for profit. The legislation requires that the country reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 17 percent by 2020. Big energy plants and producers would have a cap on emissions like carbon dioxide, but could purchase "credits" from other companies that have met their reduction goals. The Obama administration says it will pump hundreds of billions of dollars into the economy. "Russ Carnahan voted to ... close us and other ... small business."

POPSHere's How My Cap-and-Trade Plan Works You know the Cap-and-Trade bill that Democrats narrowly passed late last week? The bill -- the ill-named "American Clean Energy And Security Act of 2009, H.R. 2454") -- consists of well over a thousand pages of government intrusions into every aspect of your life. Among other things, the bill regulates farming; fertilizers; animal husbandry and animal diets; feedstock; soil; light bulbs; home mortgages; banking; power generation and transmission; water and sewer systems; manufacturing; building codes; land use (forested, cleared, wetlands, etc); "manure management"; and creates gigantic new government bureaucracies (unionized, of course) to regulate, control, monitor and audit American citizens. It even reaches into your neighborhood and overrides Home Owners Assocation agreements. Most importantly for companies, it specifies "emission allowances" for carbon dioxide. You know, the stuff that plants breathe and we exhale.

POPSWSJ UPDATE: Air Force One Photo Op Scares The Crap Out of New Yorkers "People started screaming like it was another 9/11 event --Everyone out! Everyone out!" said Carol Pancaldo, 40, who from her 28th floor office had watched the World Trade towers tumble nearly eight years ago. "I looked out and saw the tail of a plane. So I just picked up my bag and left, ran for the stairwell." The walk down the 28 flights of stairs with about 150 of her colleagues seemed to take "forever," Pancaldo said, because nobody knew what was happening outside. "You're thinking," Oh God, don't crash into my building," said Pancaldo, from Elmwood Park, an analyst for Kuehne & Nagel. She was outraged when she learned of the photo shoot. "Really, though, after 9/11? That's not a joke, that's not funny," she said.

POPSThey have our jobs, we owe them money and now this! There have been many reports by the BBC and other notable news sources that China was threatening and waging a new war with us, even while we are borrowing money from them, to buy the crap they put on our shelves at Wal-mart and Target, having taken away our manufacturing jobs to sell the crap to us. They use the money to make nice roads and rail systems for themselves while we bicker about it, and then... and then? And then they spend our billions on spying on us and breaking into our own computer network. This is not scaremongering but fact. Wake up people!

POPS'Jerks' took Africa comments out of context: Palin "those were taken out of context, and that is cruel and mean-spirited, it's immature, it's unprofessional" after the crap and innuendo she cast to the winds. The politician is nought but a hypocrite and not a very bright one. Back to your cave.

POPSSome economic predictions for the coming months
6) China's stock market will collapse next year. China will go into a recession. There will be huge amounts of violence 7) Multiple banks will probably go insolvent. They are holding too much crap paper. There will be an extreme tightening of consumer debt of all kinds, including consumer loans, credit cards and mortgages (this is already beginning, but you ain't seen nothing yet). Even people with good credit will start having difficulty getting loans. 8) Protectionism is going to get stronger. Even if Clinton, a free trader, is put in power, by the time the 2010 Congressional elections are over no "free trade" bill will be able to pass Congress and in fact actual tariffs are likely to be put in place. 9) I wouldn't be surprised, at some point, to see capital controls put in place to stop money-flight from the US. 10) When the full extent of how bad things are hits Joe Public, expect a move for reregulation of Wall Street and to reinstitute something similiar to Glass-Steaga

POPSridiculous "stimulus package," a last-ditch BushCo effort Not having the disposable income of a hip young columnist/yoga instructor but still accumulating crap--ill-fitting clothes given by well-meaning e-wives, odd freaky books, tapes and assorted junk sent by friends who haven't a clue to my spartan eclectic taste--it becomes necessary every once in a while to do "the material plane shuffle" and sell, give away or dispose of the odd small air conditioner used in Alaskan summer, the unused DVD/CD player and the books on foreign policy by Henry Kissinger. With any luck, I can trade for a nice over-sized silk Hawaiian Aloha shirt, the gaudier, the better. But I still don't even know what an iPod is and don't WANT to know. ENOUGH STUFF! How can one evolve with all that crap holding you down?
