POPShowies apprentice 5 review "Howies Apprentice 5 Review - ""The Lost Art Of Apprenticeship..."" Back in the ""olden days"", every art, trade, and profession was handed down and taught through an apprenticeship. Master craftsmen would give out all the secrets of the trade to future generations. They would act not only as a mentor, but also as a partner. Unfortunately, this is a lost art. You can only get so far by watching on the sidelines. Reading a bunch of $47 ebooks will rarely do anything more than just keep you distracted. And the problem for most people is even if you tried to get an apprenticeship to ANY trade or profession, you have to know somebody on the inside."

POPSNessie Gives Creationism a Boost more at source... "Could a fish have developed into a dinosaur? As astonishing as it may seem, many evolutionists theorize that fish evolved into amphibians and amphibians into reptiles. This gradual change from fish to reptiles has no scientific basis. No transitional fossils have been or ever will be discovered because God created each type of fish, amphibian, and reptile as separate, unique animals. Any similarities that exist among them are due to the fact that one Master Craftsmen fashioned them all."..."Teenagers studying for the certificate, which is taught in about 50 private Christian schools in the UK, spend half their time learning from evangelical US textbooks. The curriculum is based on the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) programme, which describes its ideology as "Christian fundamentalist"...

POPSEndangered Site: Chan Chan, Peru Chan Chan's days of glory came to an end around 1470, when the Inca conquered the city, broke up the Chimú Empire and brought many of Chan Chan's craftsmen to their own capital, Cuzco, 600 miles to the southeast. By the time Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro arrived around 1532, the city had been largely abandoned, though reports from the expedition described walls and other architectural features adorned with precious metals. (One of the conqueror's kinsmen, Pedro Pizarro, found a doorway covered in silver that might well have been worth more than $2 million today.) Chan Chan was pillaged as the Spaniards formed mining companies to extract every trace of gold and silver from the city.

"Jamal Elias breaks down the motifs for truck art into the following 5 categories: 1. Idealized elements of personal and communal life. 2. Elements of political and national life. 3. Talismans, trinkets, and clothing. 4. Talismans or religious symbols. 5. Obvious religious symbols and images." "Unlike vanity plates and ‘pimp-my-ride’ style modifications, Pakistani truck art is about cultural history and tradition, storytelling, passion, and sometimes playful one-upsmanship.'

POPSStephen Fry and the Gutenberg Press
Great stuff. The printing press was the world's first mass-production machine. Its invention in the 1450s changed the world as dramatically as splitting the atom or sending men into space, sparking a cultural revolution that shaped the modern age. It is the machine that made us who we are today. Stephen…travels to France and Germany on the trail of Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press…Along the way he discovers the lengths Gutenberg went to keep his project secret, explores the role of avaricious investors and unscrupulous competitors, and discovers why printing mattered so much in medieval Europe. But to really understand the man and his machine, Stephen gets his hands dirty - assembling a team of craftsmen and helping them build a working replica of Gutenberg's original press. He learns how to make paper the 15th-century way and works as an apprentice in a metal foundry in preparation for the experiment to put the replica press through its paces.

POPSCrystal skulls in British, US Museums Are Fakes Indiana Jones would have probably taken as a fool by these as the British Museum Skull was bought 127 years ago and the Smithsonian was bought in 1960. If some of the best scientists, archaeologists, and anthropologists were fooled by the fakes, could have anyone ever have accidentally discovered the deception with only a cursory look? The Legend of the Crystal Skulls and their curse (or blessing - see story) have circulated for decades... nothing like true modern technology and skepticism to ruin a great myth of the paranormal!
