Real Slime: An Open Letter To Bill Maher
billpar
by billpar  10-23-2009    4
But the most pathetic thing is when you expose your lack of education (both formal and informal) with your crackpot “theories.” This was no more evident than in the season finale of Real Time this past friday, where you asserted that it was doctors and patients “colluding together” to “corrupt” the healthcare system. This statement was so absurd and bizarre that your entire guest panel (all liberals) and even your reliably sycophantic studio audience just stared at you in disbelief. After three seconds of uncomfortable silence both the audience and panel (that included Chris Matthews and Alec Baldwin) erupted in laughter—not with you, but AT you. Things unraveled further when you launched into a diatribe defending more stupid comments you’d made the previous week about vaccines being “dangerous medical procedures.” Both Matthews and Baldwin were visibly disgusted by this, which resulted in Matthews aggressively confronting you and making you look like an idiot—again.

And civilians are still allowed to own guns why?
darkeforce
by darkeforce  10-12-2009
A so-called "responsible gun owner" gunned down a man in cold blood — 4 shots, point blank — because the man got grass on him. This is why guns and gun owners need to be strictly controlled; because anyone can have a bad day (Then again, some people are just complete sociopaths). Having easy access to something that is designed only to harm and kill is just not something that the common person should have. People buying guns should be required to have initial and regular psychological assessments, as well as screening for any violent criminal activity; whether committed as an adult, or as a juvenile. It's not worth taking a chance on people's lives just to allow cowards like Harrington to have guns to hide behind.

New CIA Docs Detail Brutal "Extraordinary Rendition" Process
ratilfar

All of these practices are carefully engineered to facilitate the interrogation process. Nudity, sleep deprivation and dietary manipulation are used as standard preparatory steps. It then details the standard "corrective techniques:" these are a series of physical assaults labeled with innocuous titles like insult slap, abdominal slap, facial hold and attention grasp. "Coercive techniques" used include: walling (slamming a prisoner's head against the wall, with some protective measures to avoid severe injuries), water dousing, the use of the stress position (known to the inquisition as the strapado, to the Germans in World War II as Pfahlbinden), wall standing (referred to by the NKVD and KGB as stoika) and cramped confinement. Because of substantial redactions, it seems unlikely that this list is complete. None of this information is surprising. In fact it all tallies perfectly with the description of the renditions program that can be derived from the report prepared by the Intern

Obama's Great Race to Change America By Victor Davis Hanson
merrie
by merrie  8-6-2009    3
But he has earned almost no bipartisan support for his proposed legislation. After six months in office, he still blames George Bush for much of the country's problems. When Attorney General Eric Holder called Americans "cowards" for not discussing race honestly, when Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor claimed Latina judges would make wiser decisions than white male judges in some cases, and when the president himself said police had "stupidly" arrested his friend Henry Louis Gates, the public saw more of the old tired identity politics. And despite promises of a new ethics in Washington, there are still tax avoiders and revolving-door lobbyists in the Obama administration just like in any other past presidency. Third, there is a vague sense of foreboding about the future and the direction the country is going. The amount of money George Bush proposed the government borrow at the end of his presidency now looks small. "Trillion" has replaced "billion" as the common . . .

The Four Reasons the Mainstream Media are Worthless
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  8-3-2009    5
Dan Rather said, regarding American media, "What you have is a miniature version of what you have in totalitarian states". Indeed, former military analyst and famed Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg said that the government has ordered the media not to cover 9/11. An expert on propaganda testified under oath during trial that the CIA employs THOUSANDS of reporters and OWNS its own media organizations. Famed Watergate reporter Carl Bernstein says the CIA has already bought and paid for many successful journalists. I could only clip whole paragraphs for some reason, so the clip isn't as I would have liked it to be, but the whole article is well worth the read. Please go to the source for the full story.

How are the men at Guantanimo — many of whom have actually been found innocent — any more dangerous than American-born Serial Killers and Terrorists? What magical powers to the hostages in Gitmo have that will make them better at escaping from American prisons? What are they (and the Democratic governors, for that matter) afraid of? Nothing. Wisps and shadows. Smoke and mirrors. America has nothing to fear by putting them in American jails, other than <gasp!> giving them fair trials and letting justice be done. If Americans want to be treated with fairness and justice in other countries, then it behoves them to give foreigners the same courtesy. Then there's the fact that these men (and boys!) did not come to America by their own free will. They were kidnapped from the Middle East, and put under American supervision against their will. As for "terrorists released on American Soil", the US law already deals with that. Foreign prisoners are deported to their own countries afterw

Cheap shots from Chickenwings (formerly Eaglewings)

Poor Chickenwings; he can't spread his lies when people keep exposing his hypocrisy. He takes the route of the coward and blocks people who disagree with him. I label him a first-class wimp, along with Wilhelm the Chickenhearted. As for our fundamental differences, we disagree on Faith. But of course, a wimp like you can only take cheap shots at me after disabling my ability to respond to your charges. You do know that Clipmarks specifically states that you are not to use the post disabler to censor people, and if reported for doing so, you can get your account suspended. Unlike cowards like Chickenwings and Wilhelm the Chickenhearted, I don't block anyone because my facts and opinions stand up to scrutiny. I'm not scared of what other people might post on my clips!

The only way to rid our world of sword rattling dinosaur nations like North Korea is to cut off its head. Talk is wasted on this petulant brat who calls himself Kim Jong Il.

Cheney sought waterboarding of prisoner to 'uncover' nonexistent Saddam-Al Qaeda link
ratilfar
by ratilfar  5-15-2009    2
Quoted in the article: Lawrence Wilkerson essentially confirmed this today. Likewise, what I have learned is that as the administration authorized harsh interrogation in April and May of 2002--well before the Justice Department had rendered any legal opinion--its principal priority for intelligence was not aimed at pre-empting another terrorist attack on the U.S. but discovering a smoking gun linking Iraq and al-Qa'ida. So furious was this effort that on one particular detainee, even when the interrogation team had reported to Cheney's office that their detainee "was compliant" (meaning the team recommended no more torture), the VP's office ordered them to continue the enhanced methods. The detainee had not revealed any al-Qa'ida-Baghdad contacts yet. This ceased only after Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi, under waterboarding in Egypt, "revealed" such contacts. Of course later we learned that al-Libi revealed these contacts only to get the torture to stop.

by ratilfar  5-12-2009
Barnes launches on a psycho-babble rant that is nonsensical and outright repulsive. He puts forth evidence of the success of torture when there isn't any, and describes Pelosi's motives like she wrote them in an op-ed. Maybe she talked to him off the record like all the Democratic sources Robert Novak always claimed to have. And let's not forget. Nancy Pelosi was not part of the torture discussion that the Bush Administration had when they decided torturing people was fine for America to be involved with. They implemented it before she was ever supposedly briefed about it. They committed crimes without her knowledge. It's all a smoke screen to take the heat of of them. Shame on Barnes.
