POPS28 Ounces Of Marijuana Was Reported Found In 2,700 Yr Old Tomb He was a Caucasian man and researchers believe he was probably a shaman of the Gushi culture, which hails from Turpan in northwestern China. The team of scientists say the alkaline soil acted as a preservative, and the herb was still green, though it retained none of its typical odor. "To our knowledge, these investigations provide the oldest documentation of cannabis as a pharmacologically active agent," Russo told The Toronto Sun. This ancient batch of marijuana was reported to have a fairly high content of THC, the main ingredient in cannabis. They said however that the sample was too old to determine a precise percentage. This is not the first time historic marijuana has been discovered; other locations in the world include Egypt and other sites, but the pot stashed in this Chinese tomb is the oldest so far that could be thoroughly tested for its properties.

POPSThe Cost of an Organic Thanksgiving There's no conclusive evidence to support the idea that organic food is healthier for you than non-organic alternatives. But if you were thinking of choosing organic for this Thanksgiving, take a look at the breakdown of costs, courtesy of SmartMoney.com (and the Well blog at NYT.com).

POPSLevitation in the Lab continues: Several years ago, acoustic levitation was introduced to keep a droplet separate from its surroundings but the equipment required for this is complex, big and expensive. Alternatively, the technique of bouncing droplets was introduced in 2005 but until now it could only be used on a specific range of droplets with high viscosity. The new technique which the physicists began work on three years ago, when one of the researchers noticed that certain bass notes emanating from his iPod speaker could make droplets 'roll' and appear to dance, works for a much larger range of viscosity fluids than previous techniques and also for a larger range of droplet size – making it much more useful for chemists, biologists and food scientists.

POPSBack-to-School Season for Your Immune Cells In fact, "backpack" is a near-perfect analogy for this technology. The synthetic patch application consists of three layers of polyelectrolytes (certain types of polymers). Inside, the middle layer is whatever the scientists want the cell to be carrying: examples include a vaccine, a protein marker, or magnetic nanoparticles for controlled direction. The bottom layer of the patch is a polymer that attaches to the surface of the immune cell, and the top layer binds to other cells.

POPSWriters really spoof it up. but wouldn't it cool if this was true? Hundreds of independent writers, artists, and activists are claiming credit for an elaborate project, 6 months in the making, in which 1.2 million copies of a "special edition" of the New York Times were distributed in cities across the U.S. by thousands of volunteers. The papers, dated July 4th of next year, were headlined with long-awaited news: "IRAQ WAR ENDS". The edition, which bears the same look and feel as the real deal, includes stories describing what the future could hold: national health care, the abolition of corporate lobbying, a maximum wage for CEOs, etc. There was also a spoof site, at http://www.nytimes-se.com/.

POPSNov 11 1918: INGLORIUS Date in US Army records (hidden) In the few short hours before 11am of 11/11/1918, United States army casualties were in EXCESS of 3,000 . This was hugely in excess of ALL loses of ALL the other armies!!! Did US men have a death-wish? No, but US generals were quite willing to expend their men's lives on whims! In one instance there were 300 casualties to capture a bath house. So that officers could bath in luxury, 300 died. They was a subsequent inquiry. Its findings were judged so damaging to the US army image that it was never published. Data courtesy of BBC

POPSWall Street Fat Cats Are Trying to Pocket Billions in Bailout Cash "We're making homeowners take a big hit, and if there's any justification for any of these bonuses -- which is dubious -- sharing that burden is important." But that's not quite the sharing that Wall Street wanted from the bailout package. Yet, if "change has come to America," as per Obama's promise, then it's high time for Wall Street to shoulder its part -- starting with this bonus season. A decisive move by Obama on this topic would go a long way toward solidifying the central promise of his campaign.

POPSOne Man's "Dream-Team" Is Another Man's "Cuckoo's Nest" One Flew Over The Cuckoo Nest Redux video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJrBhtnQ42U Don’t forget Al Gore as Secretary of the Navy. He’s already plying the high (and ever higher) seas aboard the BS (Bio-Solar) 1. Why not send him to face down the Somalis pirates? (“You lied! You played upon our fears!!”) Chris Matthews as Press Secretary is also a no-brainer. He’ll need the podium to hide how far up his leg that thrill has gone. The Clintons will make for entertaining bookends on the Supreme Court after Stevens and Ginsberg retire, knowing their seats will be safely handed on to like-minded lefties. (Just remember to serve the coffee in styrofoam—no china.) Also remember, everyone, not to show up the star. You are merely players. It’s Barack’s world, you just live there.
